To your knowledge, did one/both of your parent(s) want you aborted?

I'm 99.999999 % sure my dad did... not that his opinion really matters to me. I am not really sure about my mom, she's all religious and stuff she might have thought about it (she was 19 and having kids at that age wasn't really in her plans). But then, she might have thought that she might burn in hell for all eternity and changed her mind... not sure if I should be thankful about her desicion though.

My mum is Religious so didn't want me aborted but she never really wanted me either, my dad was great and I was really close to him but unfortunatly he passed away:(, I don't consider myself to have either parent anymore as I literally never talk to my mum, she's a total bitch, made me very unhappy for most of my childhood and if she died tomorrow I wouldn't care.

This is a very sad thread. I feel like adopting you all now.

I was planned, but my dad hates kids as well - funny that my sister and I were born then. I guess because my mum wanted kids.

He was always really strict, and we didn't get along. Although I never had it as bad as you guys, he kicked me out of home when I was 15 1/2.

I fell pregnant at 19 (I'd been with my ex for 3 1/2 years), and even though I was in shock when I found out - and the Dr asked me if I was going to keep the baby - it never crossed my mind to have an abortion. Btw, I'm not religious.

Actually, when I was pregnant a friend of my sister's who was 17 fell pregnant - and they were religious! They had a shotgun wedding soon after finding out. :P

I think if you get yourself in the situation of having an unwanted pregnancy, and you decide to keep the child, then you need to love your child and raise them the best that you possibly can. If you don't think you can do that then give the child up for adoption. It's not fair to the child otherwise. They didn't ask to be conceived, now you need to do what is best for them.

hotdensestate: How old is your dad? Is it possible that he is becoming senile? (AKA grumpy old bugger syndrome)

I find it incredibly disgusting that he could say those things to you.

Also, do you have any contact with your mother?

I was planned

This thread makes me feel so sad :(

My parents waited for about a decade before having me. I'm their first child, and I was perfectly planned. :nice:

I do have a friend, however, that was not so fortunate. She told me that she was a birth control baby (meaning that whatever birth control her parents were using was defective), and the doctor has actually told her parents to consider aborting her because she would supposedly end up being a retarded, deformed child. Her parents ignored her, and my friend is perfectly fine.

So yeah.

Abortion is such a sensitive subject so I naturally feel for many people on here and also makes me quite angry especially those mothers and fathers who can dare say to their own child that they never wish they had been born. Shocking.

I'm in a pretty unique situation in that my mother was prepared to take care of me, my dad was talked into it (and he was pretty happy with me until I was about ten...) but then my mother went insane and my dad was left with the task of taking care of me afterwards; like I said I guess he got tired of me when I was ten or so, I don't know.

He probably is.

And like I said, she's nuts...

more than shocking- full stop ABUSE , this man never needed to be allowed to breed. i sit here looking at my sons little precious face and pray in later years , if i get angry with him, i will never forget how he looks right this moment. He will always be my baby.

If you guys get this upset over verbal abuse I cant imagine how you would take news of it to its fullest extent.

Where the hell were people like this when I was growing up?

I think it's just the thought that your parents could be so disrespectful/say hateful things is what gets me angry w/ this thread.

I can only imagine the kinds of things that may have been said

wow.... and this is just over verbal stuff

its weird to see you and Kels and others on here ...taking such... i dk.... concern

Especially since all while growing up... it was always ...

well people cared way... WAY less

about things much worse than this....

You shouldve seen what it was like at my schools

absolute scandal

someone couldve sued their asses of for the shit that went down

It was more than just verbal abuse?... that's fucked up.

I think we have concern because I think we believe that parents should love their children to the fullest. I think she (kels) has a lot of concern for the topic because she is a new mother, and I'm sure could never picture herself acting to her child as people on this thread have described themselves treated. Of course I can't speak for her, but I'd imagine that's why.

I think why it angers me so much is because it's unfair to you to have to go through such abuse, when in fact there was nothing that you did wrong.

I'm sure that most people would agree that regardless of the situation it isn't right to treat your children like that especially at such an important developmental age.

.

knowing that you did nothing wrong makes it worse

at least when your a kid and you blame yourself you think ... if your just good enough... it will get better

when you know its the parent

when you become more angry than afraid

it builds in you and your sort of boxed into it and its horrible ...its got to be one of the worst feelings ever

Typically any sort of abuse is a thankless thing to overcome

either someone will expect you to "let it go" and not talk about it cuz it was in your childhood or whatever

or.... if it is appauling enough....

they just dont believe you at all, because its easier then believeing certain things can accutually go on as they do, and that said person is so close to it as to be told it from someone who experianced it.

And dont even get me started on the grey area between "discapline" and "abuse"

the whole thing just sucks.

my parents swear at me all the time, I guess that's why I am so concerned about this, I don't want anyone else feeling what I am feeling.

:dozey:Ok , i post some measly little comment AGAIN and its like the third thread in days where my post gets juggled over back and forth , i quit !!:embarrassed::freak:

But- ,Viva- yes I may be sensitive right now because of having Liam, but not really. verbal abuse is JUST as damaging as any other- I was close to it and still see the daily effects it reeks upon loved ones. The abuse ended ages ago, but the torment it caused still leaves one i love hurting, and trying to kill them self even now from it all. Bruises and broken bones are the end result of many years of verbal abuse. It does not get better. Knowing this- hearing of any of the treatment like I hear about in this thread, just scares the piss out of me- knowing what is down the road. So OF COURSE I BLOODY GET WOUND UP WHEN I HEAR OF VERBAL "STUFF".

But, I'll pray for you both and all- and if you need an ear to listen/pm me. If you need help, I'm your advocate. Anytime.

Good luck and God be with you.

:stunned: .....are you referring to ME judging your post?

I dont want you to think I was being critical of your concern or anything, I think its a good thing, its how people SHOULD react imo...

its how I at first thought people would react to something like that .... sadly that is most often not the case.... the fact that I found it unusuall really says a lot about our society ... or maybe just everyone surrounding me as I grew up doesnt it?

I was just trying to say its new to me to see people caring like that.

ps.

"I'll pray for you both" <-- who exactly are you referring to? Hotdensestate right...no..yes... idk ?

:) no- im not saying anyone was judging ! Not at all. !

It IS how people should react- any thing less to me makes them just as guilty as an abuser !

And yes- I was referring to both you and Hotdensestate. And anyone else here who is hurting from abuse !

But, my offer stands.

I was planned, my brother wasnt. But I am sure there we're no thoughts about abortion.

And if there were such thoughts, they would never tell that to us.

I'm pretty sure my mum wanted to have children. Not sure about my dad. It isn't something you normally discuss with your kids.

I'm not sure... I've always been told that I was planned.

However I have my doubts due to the massive age gap between me and my sisters

I can relate pretty well to what you're saying actually, like I said earlier in the thread my mother never wanted me and never showed me much affection at all and would physically discapline me from a young age for virtually no reason, if something similar or I hope not worse happened to you then

.................................... :uhoh: :disappointed:

....all I will say is....

I have loved coldplay for 10 years ......for a very good reason.....

My dream in life is for them to one day know how much they've helped.

I think it would definitely let them know that what their doing is good and important and appreciated and that theyre making a difference on a personal level.

and ...your virtual hugs are  :awesome: :nice:
