imo Superfast Jellyfish has the most insightful lyrics. on the surface they seem silly and nonsensical but you read them a few times and it's a great piece of social commentary.

 

The best lyrics really are like that, when it takes a few reads/listens and then you are 'aha!' :D

i still wouldve voted Kanye but it wouldve been a closer call.

 

i still think it's a miracle that kanye got 13 votes on a coldplay forum. hold the same poll on a jay-z fan forum and im pretty sure you'll get a very different result.

Still I don't see many Coldplay fans listening to Gorillaz either. I mean yes, there is a lil group of us on here that like them a lot, but I didn't expect them to get 32 votes either.

 

I wonder though in 6 months how you guys who voted Kanye will feel though. PB has been out for a while now and I can see if ppl are a bit sick of it and are more exited about the new Kanye album.

^Well a forum full of British music lovers are more likely to listen to white music from Britain like Gorillaz than black American music.

I think that's a sad argument though, because Gorillaz isn't the typical British kind of music you would expect as it's a bunch of different things. Not your typical 4 or 5 piece British rock band. Plus, they have people in the band from America, the Middle East and all over the world.

How much talk about Jay-Z, Janelle Monae, Big Boi, Shad, Kid Cudi, Raekwon, the Roots, etc. do you see on this forum.

Errm Gorillaz isn't that white either, seeing them on stage it's about 50/50. And that's usually how their albums are split up too it's not "white" or "black" music, it's a fusion of the two.

 

Anyway, all I'm saying is people shouldn't be saying that the only reason Gorillaz got more votes in this is because they are British, and oh poor Kanye the black guy from America didn't get enough. That's just how some comments in here came off to me :shrug:

i think it has a lot more to do with the Damon factor and his connection to Blur, one of the most famous british bands in history. it doesn't matter what brand of music he makes or who he makes it with, the fact he has put his name to it and his voice makes all the difference. and you cant deny that a lot of coldplay fans love blur.

 

i cant speak for the other kanye voters but i'm a big fan of both albums and both acts. so i dont want to degrade the quality of Plastic Beach or create the impression that im anti-damon or anything. it would not have received so many vote had it not been such a great album.

 

hate to state the obvious. but lets not forget music is subjective and just because one album is more popular than the other doesnt mean it is better.

No of course not, it's just opinions. :)

 

BUT in all honesty there are only a handful of Coldplay AND Blur fans I know of. I've never seen many Coldplay fans on here talk about Blur, as well as many other places online. And also, the majority of Blur fans, usually DON'T like Gorillaz. It's usually 50/ 50 in the Blur camp on whether they like Gorillaz or not. Either they love it or they hate it and think it's one of the factors that broke Blur up. So anyway...

im seeing linkin park, muse, u2+jay-z in that same week which is costing me a small fortune already. if tickets had been this cheap initially i wouldve bought cheaper tickets to the other shows and got gorillaz tickets. on top of that i get my exam results on that same night so i will be feeling a little tense haha.
