The Escapist
I know about all of those bands but what you have listed there is only 5 releases. How many Australian albums do you know of that have been reviewed this year?

deaths_friend
I know about all of those bands but what you have listed there is only 5 releases. How many Australian albums do you know of that have been reviewed this year? i dont have the time to browse through hundreds of P4K reviews to find all the australian ones. but you can add to that architecture in helsinki, sia, midnight juggernauts and temper trap (just in 2010). that is already much much more than any other publication out there. love em or hate em P4K is the most comprehensive music website out there. music nerd love criticising them but i bet you if they look at one end of year list it will be P4K's. MrMagpie
Alot of Canadian albums don't get reviewed on pitchfork either which is rather disappointing. For example Hey Rosetta! is one of Canada's hottest indie bands at the moment yet I know they'll never get a fair crack on P4K. In Canada you basically have to be a Canadian band signed on Arts&Crafts or another major American label to ever get a review. That actually would have to be one of my biggest gripes with the site is they basically review labels instead of albums...does that make sense? No matter how shit you are, if you're on Sub Pop you're getting a review on P4K.

Violet
Probably not number one but it definitely one of of the best release in that genre this year. If you listened to that folky kind of music, you would definitely consider putting it number one. It's not the music. It's her voice. I can't stand it. :bigcry: Think of all those groups who don't sing in English = no review in all those magazines Very true. :\

Janelle Monáe: The ArchAndroid [The Wondaland Arts Society/Bad Boy] 1. LCD Soundsystem: This Is Happening [EMI/DFA] i'm surprised (but real chuffed) that Frightened Rabbit ranked above The National's album! tho i do love both albums, Winter of Mixed Drinks was more of a grower for me overall unlike High Violet which i liked pretty much on first listen. or even compared to their own Midnight Organ Fight album. but it's great to see Frightened Rabbit on a list! 2010's been a good year for the lads from Selkirk... :)
