actually dates back to Aquinas and arguably before that. But Paley and people like William Lane Craig like to champion it along with the kalam cosmological argument you mentioned.

Oh. I thought Aquinas came out with the cosmological argument and Paley proposed the design argument. I'm actually quite interested with Paley's 'divine watchmaker' idea, kind of interesting. :thinking:
