Ok, here is my (extremely belated) review!

Track 01: This is a great opening track. The sirens and guitar build up at the start, which gives it a sort of car chase feel. I recognize his voice… can’t pick it though. This sort of sounds like one of those 80’s Beach Boys type bands. I know it probably isn’t, but y’know. Similar style. The song altogether it really feel good; it’s got a good beat, reminds me off summer! The bit at the end sounds like Apparatjik, with the phone calls an’ all. Awesome.

Track 02: It starts off a lot more gentler than the first song. It fits in well to take it down a notch. I really love this one. It sounds like Headless Heroes with the guitar. It’s incredible, just crazy, that guitar. I like how they’re really only using that one instrument apart from voice. It’s a great track. I’m really into this kind of music, so I’d like to hear more of this group!

Track 03: For a moment I thought this was Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis, but no. This is better than that. Another feel good track! The drums are pretty cool… the lyrics are quite cute. The only issue is that I thought it should have gone for a lot longer than it did. Don’t why, but oh well. Impressed so far!

Track 04: This song sounds hill-billy-ish! :awesome: That’s pretty funny. The style is really like Bob Dylan, but you probably already knew that. In fact, all the songs you’ve chosen so far have fit together really well. They all have the same kind of thing going, but all different.

Track 05: What’s this? No guitar? Piano? No… The lyrics are hilarious. A really very amusing song. I enjoyed it! The piano and big beats remind of Queen’s style. I don’t really know what else to say about it, but I did like it very much. Actually, it’s more like Fairytale of New York, by the Pogues. Yes. That’s a better comparison. That’s not a bad thing, incidentally.

Track 06: Oooo, I loved this one. The drums, oh the drums…. I like…. It’s one of those songs you absolutely have to turn up so loud you can’t hear anything else. Yeeeeah… *melts* …. wow….. wish I was somewhere in London. Cough cough *Guy’s bed* cough cough. What? I didn’t say anything. Anyways, the song. Yes, it’s excellent. Simply fantastic. Bfewuohfewpj.

Track 07: Hmmm… suggestive. Now this is very Apparatjik, the heavy breathing and all. It’s really funky (he he - it’s funky!). Space. That’s what it reminds me of! Space! It sounds really retro and sort of out of this world. Do you know what I mean?

Track 08: The singer’s voice in this song sounds so familiar… his name’s on the tip of my tongue. Sort of a slow song, really. The guitar I find similar to Maroon 5. The sound of it gets sort of soaring with strings at the end of the song. There’s something really creepy about it. Do you know what I mean? Especially with the lyrics. Definitely worth another listen.

Track 09: I like the start of this song. In fact, I like all of this song. I just know it, I’m gonna have it my head for the rest of the day  But anyway, the beat is really catchy, the little xylophone things in the background are cute. It’s like The Pierces! Love it.

Track 10: Starts with a strong beat. The laughter, I admit, is pretty creepy. Not sure if I like the ending of this song. It would have been better if they actually finished the end, rather than just fading it out. The rest of it’s ok, but not really my cup of tea

Track 11: Hmmm… not sure if I know who this is. That voice… so familiar… Lovers In Japan (Osaka Sun Mix), our lovely Coldplay. :wacky: I love this song.

Track 12: Randy Newman. Gotta be. I must say I’ve never heard the song though. I love his music. Was it off a soundtrack? That’s usually where hear it. I always see him as having innocent music. Probably because the first time I heard him was in Toy Story! It’s a very nice song. Not sure how well it fits in with Lovers, but maybe I should just listen to it again…

Gosh this is a long mixtape!

Track 13: Liberian Girl, Michael Jackson. This song reminds me of a forest. I really love it, absolute classic. It’s so mysterious, I think it has to be one of my favourite MJ songs. Beautiful. Love live the King.

Track 14: Haunting piano! Ooooo, creeeeeepy! And the voice that joins it is incredible. So mysterious and wonderfully wonderful. I don’t know what else to say! It’s just beautiful. Ok, so far I’m quite impressed with this mix. But this one has to be my favourite (apart from track 11! :awesome:). The end is really soaring, sort of Apparatjik –y. The silence at the end adds to the song. I love it. SILENCE IS MAGIC

Track 15: NOORRWAAAAAAAAY!! I love this song. And I wish I could go to Norway, despite what @The Final Track says  I love that it’s really odd how it goes up and down in key every now and then. But this is a very, very catchy song, and I will definitely look further into the artist. They sort of sound like the Fleet Foxes. I loved it. Definitely a highlight for me so far!

Track 16: Now this sounds like The Pierces. At least it did at the start. So many of these tracks are male singers. Not that it’s a bad thing, most of my music in male dominated. This song makes me want to go out and ride a horse somewhere. So we’ve had a song about Norway and a song about Paraguay. Do I see a pattern emerging…?

Track 17: Ha! I knew it! From Russia With Love! Great movie, great movie… Great soundtrack, great everything. I knew there was a theme going on here. Now we’ve had Norway, Paraguay, Russia. What’s next? Oh, I love the ending of it. So up lifting. Love it!

Track 18: SPAIN! Spain. I haven’t heard this one before, but it’s lovely and quiet. I think it would go very well in a soundtrack (is it in a soundtrack already?). The lyrics are quite depressing really. “So it’s to the gallows at the long lost kingdom of life”. Oh yes… makes me feel all melancholy. This will be very good for inspirational writing. Can’t wait to look further into this artist.

Track 19: Well that quite a jump. From lovely peaceful to almost ACDC style. Actually, this song is pretty good. Strong bass lines, crazy guitar riffs. Yeah, it’s alright. I don’t like it as much as some of the other songs, but it fits in quite well in the mixtape.

Track 20: I think this is a good song to turn up really loud and dance around in your underpants to. Not that I did. No really, I didn’t :shifty: Ahem, anyways… It’s really catchy, it’s quite 90’s. I like it. I mean, I don’t love it, but it’s alright. It’s catchiness is too catchy. Now THIS is what I will have in my head for the rest of the day.   That’s what I’m doing right now. But not in my underpants. The lyrics are pretty funny. I don’t know if they’re supposed to be funny, but I find them funny.

Track 21: Yay! We made it! And what a starter to a song!! Woo!! That guitar is probably some of the best air guitar music I’ve ever heard. Fantastic! I think you chose the final song very well. It has quite a different genre to everything else, and even though it was quite long it was good to finish it off with a beat –y track like this. I actually went back and listened to the start of the song a couple of times, it’s just fantastic!

Highlights: 2, 14, 18.

I like the bits you threw in about the different countries  That was funny.

Overall, I really liked the mixtape. It had a big mixture of different genres, but all the songs worked really well together. And I liked the little bit of Coldplay in the middle there

The only criticism I have is that is was perhaps a little bit too long. I think maybe next time try to make it shorter – maybe even somewhere between 50 and 70 minutes. That said, I still really enjoyed it.

Thank you for putting so much time and effort into making it for me. It’s clear you put in a lot of thought into it. And I do sincerely apologize for it being so dreadfully late! :whip: Shame on me.

Thanks again!

I'm so late with this review, but here it is anyway:

First off, the mixtape is awesome, really, really awesome. I love your musical taste:wacky:

Anywho, REVIEW!

Track 1: Kind of strange, a lot of noises and voices. But it's pretty cool. Only problem I have with it is that it doesn't really have an ending.

Track 2: French? Sounds slightly like Joanna Newsom to be honest.(I know it's not her, just sounds alike)

Track 3: This is a great cover, much better than the original imo :wacky:

Track 4: Such a lovely voice, and a beautiful song as well. Brilliant choice :)

Track 5: Hmmm piano song aye, sounds good, very mellow.

Track 6: I've heard this song before! But I can't remember where :( It's pretty cool though. Actually this song is pretty much awesome.

Track 7: Oh my, this song is perfect

Track 8: This is a bit different and I think I know I've heard this before, that makes no sense, but whateverrrr. It's a lovely song, the chorus is lovely, all the little noises are cute and the singers(back-up singers too) are really talented :)

Track 9: This is catchy, though the lyrics are a bit dark and depressing, is he American?

Track 10: I've heard this before :O But god only knows where. It's certainly something special, but it's definitely not bad, the intro is a bit eh. But she's speaking Norwegian(!) :awesome: Love it

I feel like everything I write is turning out a bit confusing.

Track 11: Mumford & Sons – Winter Winds, saw it streaming from Coachella, Wonderful choice.

Track 12: This is a good song, but I think you should have placed it differently, because Winter Winds has so much energy, and well this song doesn't :undecided: Still a good song though.

Track 13: Bon Iver – The Wolves (Act I & II) I probably would have misse it, but I listened to a bunch of Bon Iver songs while I was making my own mixtape :P

Track 14: My sister always plays this piece on the piano, it's just stunningly beautiful. Great choice.

Track 15: Now we're taking a whole different route, this is interesting, the bongo drums and all. This is from a movie isn't it? I know I've heard it in a movie somewhere, an animated one I believe. It's really cool.

Track 16: Strings  The song is lovely, I'll probably listen to it next time I'm feeling down :) Normally I don't like songs being long, but this one could go on forever and I wouldn't mind.

Track 17: I don't know what to say to be honest, it's a nice song, but it just doesn't connect with me beyond that :blank:

Track 18: Synth :snobby: Not something I generally listen to, but dammit I like that chorus.

Track 19: I didn't like the opening, but I love the rest of it. Heard it before though, my sister likes this song I think. The guitar is cool and the singer, though not the greatest of singers, fits the song perfectly.

Track 20: Different, very different. Also really freaking great, until that singer started singing, sorry but that killed the entire song. Can't stand that voice.

Track 21: Okay song, but not the right one to end the mixtape imo.

In conclusion, GREAT JOB! I love the mixtape :wacky: Except for a couple of little things, I loved every single song, the 'tape is perfect. 10/10

I can't wait to find out the artists and songs :)

I like the bits you threw in about the different countries  That was funny.

Dave, I guess this is yours. :p

And I wish I could go to Norway, despite what @The Final Track says

Nonono, it's a lovely country, I just don't like Moods of Norway!

My partner didn't review my mixtape and hasn't visited this site in almost a week :(

there there, I'm still waiting for my review too :\

there there, I'm still waiting for my review too :\

Same here. :(

I'll be glad to review any tapes that are left unreviewed.

After this mixtape exchange "ends" there should be a "second round" between those who didn't get a mixtape and those whose mixtape wasn't reviewed.

Sorry this has been way over due! Sorry Mixtape person!

Track 1: The National- Little Faith, There was actually a lot of the National on this tape, not a bad thing, because I do enjoy them tremendously! So this track was a little sad, not too up beat or anything.

Track 2: Well here is the up beat song instead, a female singer, she has a rich voice and she is apparently in a cold war. The song is all right it doesn’t really do it for me, but it is a track that I wont immediately skip over if that makes sense ;)

Track 3: Eh Devendra Banhart right? Meh, it’s a bit too slow for me, the piano was nice, but then it switches mid song with guitar and a totally different feel. If you were to cut out the beginning it would be okay. But holy cow it switches a lot, geez. :P

Track 4: Intro has this almost Mumford and sons’y’ guitar and then you get the singer who almost reminds me of Thom York with his grasping for high notes voice. Another mellow track, until you get towards the end where it picks up a little bit, and then slows back down

Track 5: OH! Fleet Foxes! I love them, kind of odd since a couple of the artists on this mixtape are slightly similar, but this is a great song! (The Shrine / An Argument) Long, but great!

Track 6: Well an upbeat song again, heavy guitar and drums, interesting singer, he has a peculiar voice, I think I will keep this.

Track 7: Bahahah! YES! Oh Kanye West! Can you go wrong with him? No one man should have all that power!

Track 8:The National- Sorrow, love them and I seriously need to see them live!

Track 9: Blur- Coffee & TV another good song!

Track 10: Orchestra music, pretty calm, almost like a fantasia song, it was nice, but I think I would put it on my fall asleep playlist ;)

Track 11: The National- Daughters of Soho Riots, again love them ☺

Track 12: Kings of Leon- Pyro, great song, love the guitar in the beginning.

Track 13: Ugh, sorry did not like this song at all! Way too repetitive! She has got her a and b machines for sure!

Track 14: Band of Horses- The Funeral Love this song! A good choice for the end song on the tape, has a great slow beginning a then it builds into this cascade of loud banging drums and guitars!

Overall I think I liked the second half of the mixtape more then the first half, but nice job, you win some and you lost some with me, but eh I’m picky. :P

Everyone got a mixtape this time, but I think during every exchange there are a few people who never come back to review for some reason. Usually people will offer to review extra mixtapes though so I think anyone who hasn't gotten one reviewed will be covered by that, you'd just have to post a link to your mixtape.

My review is on it's way. I thought I't do it this weekend but due to renovations the internet didn't work at home so I couldn't upload

Nonono, it's a lovely country, I just don't like Moods of Norway!

oooohhh, Janelle Monae... yum yum

To my partner: I am SO sorry I haven't reviewed your tape yet! :bigcry:

I've just had a ton of homework and didn't have time today. I will definitely do it Wednesday or Thursday though; I want to make sure I listen to it a few times (it's an excellent tape!)

I just listened to Sucker Punch soundtrack, now I'm really tempted to just post it as mine for the next mixtape exchange. It's just so awesome :laugh1: <=== gosh I love this icon.
