I only just put that in.

Okay, I will see if it will fit.

 Ya got taste bro

to the person who got Ruby's mixtape, you're lucky :cheesy:

hi! I made your tape. I took a lot of chances cuz I know a lot of what I put on there was not necessarily to the taste of everyone. I hope it was an interesting experience either way though!

So here is my review, I'm sorry that it took so long... I hadn't much time this weekend, but here it is! I found it really annoying that on some tracks the artwork, or song details were not deleted correctly... But I tried not to look at it![/b]

Track 1

So, a classical music piece from the soundtrack of the Amadeus movie. It's OK to listen to one time, it's great background music, but it's not music I could "listen" to, if you know what I mean... 6,5/10

Interesting that you recognized it, I actually listened to this song before seeing Amadeus but I really like the version from the soundtrack better than any others I've come across, so I put that in. Mozart's Symphony no. 25 in G Minor, mvt 1, performed by the St. Martin in the Fields orchestra way back in the eighties. I'm a little sad that it wasn't active listening music for you, but I totally understand where you're coming from, because it's like, CLASSICAL classical, which is hard for a lot of people to get into, as opposed to like, ROMANTIC classical, which tends to be easier.

Track 2

Weird choice after the first song... This is from Portishead right? I don't know the title of the song... It reminds me of the old James Bond films, was it used in one of those? Again OK, but not something I want to listen to more then once... 7/10

Yeah, it's from Portishead. It's called Sour Times. And yeah, I was trying to throw the tape for a loop a little bit. I'm not sure if it's from any films.

Track 3

Lotus Plaza - Red Oak Way says my music player. never heard of... Lovely intro with nice guitar sounds... But then some weird ticking noise, and a boring voice comes in, and other weird vocals... Not my type of music... 5,5/10

I guess I couldn't get the title to clear itself, sorry :/ It's by Lotus Plaza, which is the solo project of the guitarist for Deerhunter. (Deerhunter sounds quite a bit different from Lotus Plaza so I still heavily recommend checking them out.) Deerhunter's a weird band to get into, it took me a while, but if you do, it's absolutely worth it, imo anyway. :)

Track 4

Yeah Piano! But then also violin again, meh... Absolutly better then the first song, I especially liked the piano in it... 7/10

tee hee, it's a cello. and it's also supposed (I think) to be the focus of the composition. But it's k if you don't like it as much as the piano, because the piano is certainly very beautiful. Le Cygne, composed by Camille Saint-Saëns. (I dunno who performs it, sorry.) He's a Romantic composer, and super super cool and you should listen to him. :D

Track 5

Again Piano, with a nice voice! Lovely when the guitar and drums kick in... And then suddenly the song really starts... Great sound! The piano and guitar are really great in this song! Also the Bass melodies are really good! And lovely piano that ends the song, a bit jazzy sounding... Lovely song, absolutly the best of the mixtape! Never heard this before actually, so I really want to know who this band is! 8/10

this song/this band are so pro. This is Handshake the Gangster, by Hey Rosetta! It was the first song I liked by them. You need to listen to their stuff. I'm really thrilled you like it, like a lot, because HR! needs way more love. class act, them rosettas. It's off the album Into Your Lungs which is just an amazing album, get it now. I was pretty sure this and the next song would be two that almost anyone who got the tape would like, and damned if I wasn't right! :D

Track 6

I've heard this song before! But don't know who this is... I really like this song! Great lyrics, and vocals! And the funny piano melodies, I started playing along with it on piano... Great song, really makes you happy! 7,5/10

I'm really glad you liked this one! :DDD This was one of the tracks I put in that was less risky (again, I'm sorry because I didn't really tailor it with songs I was pretty sure you'd like in mind, which I guess was kind of selfish of me D:) Come on Feel the Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens. Really beautiful song, I love it so much, and the whole album is just terrific and you have to get it so bad (also, Into Your Lungs, too. a lot).

Track 7

Again beginning with some violins... Classical piece again... There is piano in it, but no I didn't liked it... I know this is great music, and many people like it, but I just don't... 6/10

It's okay, don't feel bad! Taste is really subjective, I'm certainly not one to berate someone for not liking some tracks I put on the mixtape. Mixtape exchanges for me are always a way to represent the kind of music I'm into at the time and I've (fairly recently) started really appreciating classical music, so I couldn't help but put some in. This is Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy, who is amazing, but if you weren't into this song I wouldn't spend my time on much more of his work, because a lot of it is in this style.

Track 8

Daedelus - Sundown says my music player again... Never heard before... What an awful music! I really don't like this... All the weird beepes, and voices, and ticking noices... Can people really listen to this, and enjoy this? Then some weird clapping audience suddenly... Weird drums... Messy music... 4/10

Hahaha! Couldn't get the info to clear for this either. Sorry to subject your ears to such unpleasantness, but electronic music isn't always pretty. :P Definitely don't bother with anything else by Daedalus if you didn't like this, because this is among his most normal/accessible/"listenable" tracks out there. Sorry to throw you for a loop like this, hahaha.

Track 9

A bit like Track 8... Again weird computer noices... OK this I can understand people like this, It's not bad... There are some interesting melodies in it... And keyboard melodys... some weird voices, and fast drums... Again it's not bad, but I can't listen to it much... Also the song doesn't progress or something (Is that correct English?) It doesn't change that much... Overall it's all the same... Although I like the melody on the beginning, and that comes back at the end of the song... 6/10

Haha, weird computer noises. Sorry, I don't mean to laugh at you, I just think that's a funny description. I think I get what you mean by little progression because it doesn't have the same "progression" as a typical song (a lot of dance music doesn't... it's for dancing to, not sitting around!). It's Beautiful Lies by B-Complex.

Track 10

So Windows says this song is from the movie "The Social Network", and my music player says it's from Jason Mraz! WEIRD, it isn't both I think... The overall melody is great, reminds me of Scary movies... But every other sound in the song is just awful... I didn't like that... Escpecially the end of the song... 5,5/10

Okay, I genuinely don't know where THAT came from, because I think I did delete the info for this one, and it's DEFINITEYL not Jason Mraz, hahaha. I think your computer is just a pro at guessing where some of these are coming from? I dunno. Sorry to inadvertently spoiler. This is Trent Reznor's version of In The Hall of the Mountain King, which was composed by Edvard Grieg (it's the creepy melody that people hear in a lot of movies), but he did a more electronically version of it for The Social Network (which was a fucking perfect film, btw). Again, it's cool that you didn't like it/this section of the tape, because I went out on a limb with this whole electronic diversion in general.

Track 11

Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lies says my music player... I heard of Interpol, but never listened to it... So, guitar-y intro... Then bass, drums... Luckily another "Normal song"... It's not a bad song, but also not really exciting... A bit boring maybe... Escpecially the vocals... 6,5/10

DEFFO got rid of the info for this one as well, I think your computer is a sneaky music-expert bastard. Haha I like that you called it "normal" :D Interpol as a band is actually really different from this song, which I love really a lot (hence the mixtape-putting-on)

Track 12

Is that a train? Clapping an a choir... Nice vocals... But it's not really a song, not many sound besides the vocals and the clapping... I think it's OK.. Althought I don't like the weird ending of it... Weird way to end a mixtape... 6/10

Haha I dunno if I would call it "not really a song", I get what you're saying though, it's the same thing as Beautiful Lies, because it doesn't have the traditional songlike progression. Comfy in Nautica by Panda Bear.

Overall I think it's a nice mixtape, a nice mix between 3 kinds of music, Electonical, Classical, and Rock music... I really liked that idea actually, because I don't listen to many electronic/classical music actually... So thanks for that! Track 6 and 7 are my favourite tracks, listened to them more now! I really want to know the bands who are behind those songs! Thank you for the Mixtape! Rating: 7/10

Again, I sort of had a weird genre combination going here, because I didn't want to bore you (which I trust I didn't, even during the weird computer noises! :P). I also found it hard to gather much about your taste so I sort of just decided to wing it with this tape. Thanks for reveiwing!

By the way, I am really quite sorry that all the information apparently didn't delete, but I checked each track on my computer and Windows told me it didn't know artist/album/cover information at all. :/ I don't think I've ever made this mistake before, or if I have, only on a few tracks that were hardcoded to protect the artist, etc information, so I'm really perplexed about that. :wtf:

Hi David :D I'm your mixtape maker!

Firstly I'm sorry about the quality of the mp3s! I left my sister in charge of making the mixtape

I am so sorry that you knew basically all of the tracks! :( When I was stalking you and looking at the bands you posted about I thought "Oh no!" because I loved the same ones as you ! :\ I guess we have quite similar music taste :P Thankyou so much for reviewing, it can't have been the most exciting one to listen to :embarrassed:

And here it is if anyone wants to download : -
