was well intimidated by partner :|

btw, to my mixtape maker, you can throw in anything. If you stalk me you will find lots of clues but I won't put it here in case you don't want to know.

I have 1 request though. Please, please, please, PLEASE for the love of goddess don't make it too long. I usually can't keep up with long albums. 16 is way too many. But then again, it's up to you ;)

My dear mixtape maker, here are some of my favourite artists:

- Eric Whitacre

- Hans Zimmer

- Jeremy Soule

- Sigur Ros

- The Glitch Mob

- Ulrich Schnauss

- One Step From Hell

So, how can I sum up what my favourite genres are... uhh..

as you can see, I really like film/game soundtracks, classical pieces, electro, but I believe I tend to atmospheric/ambient songs! So maybe go in this direction :) Oh and I really don't care for lyrics that much, so feel free to spam me with instrumentals!

Hopefully I don't seem to picky :uhoh:

Erifc Whitacre! :cheesy: The man is a genius. My concert band played "Equus" last spring. That piece is deceptively hard. We used the choir parts and everything.

Also, thanks for reminding me I should listen to more Ulrich Schnauss. I listened to a track of his and liked it rather much.

hey dear mixtaper; i haven't got last.fm stlye profile i'd like to listen 80s rock bands like AC DC,Guns'n Roses,Aerosmith etc. and also alternative like Coldplay,Muse,Alkaline Trio... But i prefer that your favourite ones. it's nice to hear different genres :) :) :)

OMFG I'm so happy you know Eric Whitacre and Ulrich Schnauss!! I just discovered Witacre yesterday by accident and I'M SO FEKKING HAPPY I DID! He's just... WOW!

Your concert band played Equus!? Holy snot, I would have loved to listen to that musical piece live :wacky:

I was totally blown away by "Lux Aurumque" the Virtual Choir with all the youtube people in it, the idea itself is already brilliant, and I was melting by the sound of it, OMG.

And about Ulrich Schnauss, if you haven't heard "Shine" yet, DO IT, I find it quite fantastic! :D The whole album "Goodbye" is rather epic.

Okay sorry for spamming this thread with my fangirlism, I'll shut up now :wacky:

"Lux Aurumque" is one piece of music that puts me in tears every time I listen to it. It's just chockful of emotion. It's extremely beautiful. If you liked the Virtual Choir version, go listen to Concordia sing it. It's fabulous. There's also a band arrangement for it; it doesn't sound as good (to me, anyway), but it's still Whitacre.

Yeah, we did. Actually, I'm sure if I asked my band director for a copy, I could get it from him. I may just do that, actually.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll most certainly look into that.

:curtain: *creeps on conversation*

God, I miss concert band and wind ensemble. I haven't played a brass instrument in almost a year now.

You were a brass player? That's cool! Which instrument did you play?

Yep, euphonium and trombone. But I graduated last year so I don't play anymore. And I was renting from my high school, so I don't have an instrument to even play on!

I still play piano though, so at least it's something. What do you play?

:curtain: *creeps on conversation*

:awesome:Hello, hello!

Oh my god you are so right. When I opened the video window I was literally glued to the chair and just sat there still for the song to end, I was absolutely in awe! It's such a moving piece. And I find it beautiful that Whitacre just got so many people together from all over the world to sing such a fantastic song. I somehow wish that all the famous composer from the past should have the chance to see that today in the age of artists like Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber there are still miracles like the artworks Whitacre puts together :wacky:

I just listened to it on youtube, it sounds fantastic! Way more coordinated with the voices and clearer. Thank you for the suggestion!

:o You're amazing! :wacky:

You are so very welcome

I love seeing how this turns into a conversation about the orchestral music. :awesome:

Shit I forgot to keep my mouth shut! :shame:

Has anyone ever played An American Elegy by Frank Ticheli? So pretty

No, but I am playing Elegy For a Young American in this year's spring concert. It's beautiful, it's about the life of John Kennedy. Lots of dissonance, great piece. :wacky: (a whole freakin octave higher than I can play though :shifty:)

Back to mixed tapes though, I'm having a hard time finding a good order for my tracks! I can't decide what should be first :bomb:

What was originally going to be the first track on my tape is now the last :P

Uploading mine now :)

I've compiled mine. Will upload it tonight. :wacky:

I don't know whether to go for some cohesiveness or just a totally random one spanning many genres...

i don't know if my mixtape partner needs to stalk me, but just in case my main favourite bands are:

Keane

Snow Patrol

Muse

Razorlight

Biffy Clyro

Radiohead

Foo Fighters

The Killers

Arctic Monkeys

etc.......................... :)

I made my tracklisting this morning at 12:30 because I couldn't sleep. :wacky:

Trying it out today.

mine is probably gonig to be the most random mix... i have nothing to go off of in deciding what artists to include or not include.

Yep, euphonium and trombone. But I graduated last year so I don't play anymore. And I was renting from my high school, so I don't have an instrument to even play on!

WOOO, low brass! :awesome: I marched baritone for marching band in high school because my band director didn't believe in marching horns. I loved it. :D

Yeah, I'm a horn major at my university. It's pretty damn awesome. :wacky: I play a lot of other instruments, though (including piano, which was my first instrument).

He did the same thing for his piece "Sleep," and I have very good friends who were chosen for that Virtual Choir. :wacky:

I just listened to it on youtube, it sounds fantastic! Way more coordinated with the voices and clearer. Thank you for the suggestion!

You're quite welcome. It sounds that way because Concordia are a much more professional ensemble. People were complaining on the link about the strength of the basses, but I don't really agree with that.

:o You're amazing! :wacky:

Awww, thank you.

I love seeing how this turns into a conversation about the orchestral music. :awesome:

ME TOO. :awesome:

Has anyone ever played An American Elegy by Frank Ticheli? So pretty

I personally didn't play it, but the Wind Ensemble at my university played it. Here, we play a lot of Ticheli. My ensemble (Wind Symphony) is playing Ticheli's 2nd symphony as the closer of our concert that we're playing April 19th.

...

OK. Mixtapes.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out artists to put on mine. :freak: This can't be good. :uhoh:
