yep :wacky:

except the burial remix of and it rained all night is really average :(

BUT four tets remix of atoms for peace is better than the original

Yeah but the thing is The Suburbs was a fantastic album. And since when did U2 exactly turn into mainstream mediocrity? It was my understanding that they were great and mainstream at the same time. The two terms can co exist you know.

4 of their last 5 albums havent been anything special. the fans have liked them but otherwise they haven't really made much of a ripple on the greater music scene. but i wouldnt call them mainstream mediocrity, just not very amazing music or at least paling in comparison to their masterpieces.

I know they can co-exist, but I used U2 as an example of mainstream mediocrity because they did it in the cliched shit way.

And The Suburbs was not a good album at all. Settle down.

Still don't know where you're coming from on the U2 front. And there is only one 'not good' album being discussed here and it isn't The Suburbs. Obviously it's your opinion but I feel you're in the minority.

Lulz, U2 fan.

Got anything interesting to say? I mean I'm still waiting!

Awww, for little old me

I'm happy to leave it at that. People can read. I'm comfortable in my opinions and you just outed yourself as a U2 fan.

Outing myself as a U2 fan? What in God's name are you talking about? Perhaps it'd be best if you listened to U2 first. You've probably only heard Vertigo. I'd much rather listen to great U2 than insignificant indie shite.

Quality statement rite ther

I should use it in meh siggy 'cuz da world is filled wit 2 much indie :awesome:

I've heard ever album. My old house mate used to like them.

And insignificant indie shite? I think it's you who needs to do some research. Those aren't the only options available.

Whilst this by no way makes him a bad musician (his music does that), I can watch clips of him fucking up all day.

That's such a simpleton's view of U2. But I admire how you spent all that effort putting those videos up.

I think it's amazing the amount of disrespect U2 receives. Whether you like them or not, their influence on ALL musicians is pretty much unmatched over the last 25 years. There would be no king of limbs or suburbs discussion without the contributions of U2. I know Bono sets himself up as an easy target, but I still can't believe how quick people are to slam such an influential band, especially on Coldplay board.

You are 110% bang on! For pioneers of the music scene in the late 80s and early 90s the ignorance is laughable.

I haven't read anything else on this thread...but U2 is the first band I love and will always love. The music is amazing and I cannot stand how much they get slammed....it's sheer and utter brilliance what they write and most of my friends slam U2 which is unbelievable because most people overlook them and just jump on board with all the haters....

my point being that I 1000% agree! :D

Love people that think their opinion = Good album.

I never connected (ha! that word) with The Suburbs. Not that I did with TKoL too, maybe just the 3 obvious songs, apart from that I dunno, I guess I need to listen to it more cos I didn't bother to listen to the first half more than 2 times.

Haven't really listened to either.

Also, I tried very hard to like U2, but I just can't. :freak:

Dislike equals disrespect?

Sure we joke, but in reality, some people just don't like U2 because they don't like them, and nothing more. No one ever said they weren't influential.

Where did I say dislike equals disrespect? You are inferring something that was never said by me. In fact, I think I said "whether you like them or not", which is to imply that preference is immaterial to the point I'm making. I was speaking to a popular trend, which was again displayed in this thread, to clown U2 in a dismissive manner. To suggest anything beyond that is you putting words in my mouth.

I like U2. They've got good songs. Bono is overrated, and the band is overrated... but they're alright.

um, what the fuck are you talking about. How was it 'shit'? as an album it wasn't that great but it in no way was it shit.

For me it was completely out of my control. I have tried listening to Funeral and Neon Bible time and time again but I just can't enjoy them. I don't know what the fuck happened. The Suburbs just sounded so bad in my ears.

I like Radiohead as the next guy, but .. okay, IMO it was shit.Okay, maybe I'm exagerating, it's wasn't very good. Shit is that it was bad, in this case it wasn't good.

Anyways, yeah~ I can totes understand, maybe Arcade Fire will continue doing this, since they won a Grammy because of Where The Wild Things Are made them famous, and it came out just after Neon Bible, so it's not like it could be best Album in that year, so since everybody liked Arcade Fire, they voted The Suburbs, just cos It's Arcade Fire.

Bono overrated? Can't really remember people ever rating Bono. The band aren't overrated though. They are living legends.
