While walking I pulled out two copies of miel magazine (a poetry, short fiction & art magazine that I edit) and said “These are for you.” And then explained what they were. He has thanked me. I’ve then said “I don’t know if you even like poetry… “ he’s replied “I don’t read much poetry, but I like short stories.” I’ve said “Oh good, they have short stories in them too!” He’s said “I’m reading some german and dutch books at the moment” I’ve asked “Really? In german & dutch?” he’s replied “Oh, no… ” Then he’s open his shoulder bag to show me the books he brought that morning, Goethe and Gogol.
