Should I go?

Featured Replies

Okay, so I'm new to all this and I haven't ever been to a Coldplay concert. I would absolutely love to go see them, I think. News has just said that they are coming to Australia, which is super exciting. But.

They are going to a festival in QLD, and it's pretty far to travel seeing as my family aren't that into Coldplay, and it's a big ask for them to get me to the concert. Also, it's a festival so there are other performers there, which means that not everybody there is a Coldplay fan, so the crowd mightn't be that good.

The question is. Do I go? Do I ask my parents to take me so I can go see them? Do I wait until they come on tour? Should I even go, because I have this vision in my mind of all these wonderful things, and I'm sure the concerts are great. I've heard all these wonderful things, but should you meet your heros? I might have my hopes up to high mightn't I?

What do you guys think?

I live in SA. The festival coincides around the same time as I'll be having mid-year exams and stuff. Plus, I heard it's about $350 for tickets and camping permits. Plus travel costs.

Additionally, knowing festival setlists, it might not be quite as long as their regular shows. I think.

Personally, I'll be waiting for them to come to somewhere close by. Hopefully Adelaide.

TL;DR version: I wouldn't bother.

GO!!!

Enjoy yourself and tell me all about it :D

I'm not allowed to go :(

I'd say GO. :mean:

as long as you don't mind spending $700 on the event then yeah go ahead (all costs included). i'm going but i'm going cos i like about 20 bands on the lineup so its quite worth it for me. and how old are you? if you're under 18 i think you need to take a parent or something which would really suck cos the festival is 4 days partying and dragging a parent around for all that time would suck.

but yeah if the money isnt an issue. go for it. and i dont think any of us should get too far ahead of yourselves.getting tickets to this event aren't always surety.

Unless you have $700 (you'll need at least that travelling from where you are I'd think) saved just for something like this and there's definitely a fair few other acts you'd like to see playing, don't go. It's not worth paying all that just for 80 minutes of Coldplay when they'll almost certainly be back next year with a proper tour and a longer set.

its not actually that bad. i kinda worked it out as, i'll see about 20 acts that i genuinely like over the 3.5 days which is about $35 each band and i'll get to see them in an awesome atmosphere. i had a look at the prices for Reading & Leeds and they're about the same minus the travel costs. and hey its a nice weekend away.

i think Lihyahm hit the nail right on the head. i know a lot of you really really love coldplay but $700 just on them......ehh i couldn't ever justify it.
