April 15, 201115 yr K so I just turned on my laptop, and the blue screen of death came up with the "Error...crash dumping memory...blahblahblah" message! This has happened to my laptop and my sister's laptop before but I honestly can't remember what happened or how we fixed it. I restarted and tried to skip through the error messages and the blue screen, and my computer seems to be running normally. Is the problem gone or do you think it's still lurking? :uhoh:
April 15, 201115 yr I'm currently facing the same problem and today I saved important documents to my external drive so I can format my hard drive and reinstall Windows. :( You can look up the error code in Windows, copy it and google it. Most of the time someone else had the same problem and you can find advice on forums or the Windows help pages. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms681381%28v=VS.85%29.aspx You need to find out how to see the list of problems, it differs from system to system. :)
April 15, 201115 yr This might be how you can find your event protocol (and therefore the error code) http://www.dslreports.com/faq/5086
April 15, 201115 yr On the blue screen of death there is probably some sort of reference number, make a note of that and on a working computer google it. If it's a known problem there will be fixes online.
