...stop crying once you've started?

:( I fucking can't. I don't know what to do.

why are you crying? is everything okay?

I've never had that happen, but I'd imagine watch or listen to something funny

I'm crying because I feel like a failure. My exams are starting on monday and i've studied nothing (basically) though i HAVE to succeed otherwise I won't be able to spend next year in Manchester (which is what i want most!).

If I watch or listen to something funny right now it will only annoy me and something sad or unfunny will only made me cry harder.

Ice cream + a nap. After the nap get up and tackle everything you have to do, and don't stop until you've been at it for a few hours, and then more ice cream.

I just try to take my mind off of whatever's upsetting me and try to keep myself busy with something.

I'd say maybe you should start studying now but it's probably late where you are.

Yeah it's midnight here and I can't concentrate on learning anything with I'm this upset.

Well it's midnight so it's not the best time for it but walking is great !

When I cry I take a long walk in the quietest place ; I find it very calming.

First of all you shouldn't think that you are a failure and you shouldn't put yourself down like that, especially since you haven't failed at anything. I'm sure that these exams coming up are not going to be the only thing that will determine whether you get into a school in Manchester. I say just try to study as much as you can and try to do the best you can for the exam on Monday, afterall "the best you can is good enough" :P

But I'd agree with what everyone else has said, try to take your mind off of it if you can.

I'm sure everything will turn out just fine :D

You can't even understand me when I'm crying, for whatever reason. Even if I'm not upset anymore I still do, or I breathe deeply and I don't know how to stop unless It's late and I go to sleep, but my eyes would still be red :(

I sleep better after I cry actually :awesome: I usually eat chocolate and watch Clerks :blank:

Really you must nap. Napping cures all. Also, I'm serious about the ice cream.

It probably would have worked since I absolutely can't cry in public so the simple fact of being outside would have made me stop crying! But yeah, it's midnight. :S

Actually yes, these exams are the only thing that wiill dertermine whether or not I'm going to Manchester. I've been accepted to the university of Manchester already. But if I fail those exams I can't go. As simple and terrifying as that. :( Thanks for the kind words anyway, Mike.

The beauty of this helped me stop crying. :) And now The Sunshine Underground by The Chemical Brothers is cheering me up.

Hopefully I'm gonna be able to sleep.

Mint chocolate chip, HMMMMHHMHMHMMHMMHMHMHMHMH :dazzled:

You already got in? well then there's nothing to worry about. I mean yes you still have exams to take but I'm sure that you're going to do just fine on them. Just try to really study this week to make sure you have a big enough cushion to get in, but yeah... you'll be fine! :D

But good news regardless in getting in... congrats! :)

Thank you. :nice: Getting in was super easy compared to those fucking law exams coming, you know. :S

I'm going to try to sleep now and not think about it too much.

Oh and now I'm craving ice cream, which is bad considering there isn't any in the house. :p

I'm not that great with advice .... best I can offer you is this D:

What Sara said, but sans ice cream.

All you need is a nap. I speak from recent experience.

I agree, just take a nap and you'll feel better when you wake up. Btw, i love those few seconds after i take a nap and i don't remember shit about any problem i had but then they come back and ruin everything :disappointed:

Hope you feel better soon Alice

When I was sad ,I listen to some songs sorrow to make me cry,Thats nice!!XD

In ur case ,Just prepare well and fight, dont care about the result cuz its meaningless .

Thanks everyone. The nap was probably the best advice. I went to sleep and now I feel better this morning.

Just saw that this morning ! How cute ! :wacky:

If I watch or listen to something funny right now it will only annoy me and something sad or unfunny will only made me cry harder.

That's pretty much how I feel. I don't get as annoyed about that if I'm sad, though, as I do when I'm angry. If I'm mad about something, then happy music will just make me madder, and I'm more like, "STFU " :uhoh:

Anyway, I'm glad to see you're doing much better today.

That vid. It is full of win.

Just try to do as much work as you possibly can over the weekend. Spent most of the day & night in the library today to get some essay done but I managed to get it in on time. Good luck with your exams, you'll probably be alright!

I'm in the same situation. Applied to 5 universities, got 4 conditional offers so far but it all depends on my final results. The uni I wanna go to has the highest entry requirements out of the 4, which sucks.

I suggest you cry first. Just cry.

And then you get your mind focus. Do you want to study, or do you want to just screw your exams? I guess the answer is study. But can you study at the moment? If you can't, do something that cheers you up. Or follow Sara's advice, which I think is quite good. If you really don't want to not study but yet can't seem to study, take a break. Take some time off. And I know it's hard to say 'fuck exams', so just drown yourself in something to do. Or else you would just cry again and the cycle repeats.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit too harsh...

I hope the best for you. Good luck with your exams.

A few times I've been in the situation where I have hours until an exam and don't understand a thing about the module/subject, I make an optimistic schedule (40mins for this, 20mins for that etc.) where I can blitz through the general idea of different subjects to get an overall feel, and write out very brief notes which I check over constantly to keep reminding myself where what I'm reading fits into the general scheme of things. I've done this before with only 8 or 10 hours until the exam (No sleeping of course with the aid of amphetamines, cocaine or caffeine) and always leave the last 2 or 3 hours to go over everything generally again and again, getting more and more detailed each time, also sticking to keeping my notes as concise as possible so that I can literally go over everything as I walk to the exam.

I hope that advice helps, I've shown this method of cram-studying to friends when they're in a similar situation and want to start studying but the idea of even beginning to start learning on a variety of complex issues becomes very hard to imagine, and the more it freaks them out the more they do nothing and then they freak out even more because there's even less time. I've been told it's incredibly helpful.

So go with that plan, put down a schedule on paper so you can follow it, don't go more then 5-10mins past your scheduled targets unless you really feel you're beginning to understand something you never have before. It sounds like you have a few days so make the most of this time, like I just mentioned it's probably a daunting idea to even starting when there's so much to learn, so break everything down and get brief ideas (Even using wiki) of the subject before worrying about the endless tiny details.

Calm down, and good luck.
