We're Boned (AKA the 2011 Canadian elections)

That's still no reason to put up with bad things.

But I take your point.

i just wish people would take a more level headed approach to political issues. i can't say too much about canada but i know in aus the policies our govt come up policies that are in no way life and death matters for anyone but the media paint it like its the end of the world. and naturally the rest of us act accordingly.

there's a lot i dont agree with in this country but i've spent a lot of time in 3rd world countries. i know how lucky i am. wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I stand by having concerns regarding political issues at home alongside global concerns. The two aren't mutually exclusive. True, most aren't as 'life or death' but they affect people's lives and are therefore important to those people and worth 'moaning' about, and a country like Canada and their environmental policies can affect the rest of the world.

I'm sure Canadian's aren't comparing their problem to those of the third world.

Like I say though, I do see your point.

It matters when the very identity of our country is being risked by a man who believes that American conservatism is the best thing to happen to the world since the Internet. After all the shit he's already done, I'm shocked that so many people can trust him (well, only 40% of us).

Obviously Canada's problems can in no way be compared to those of third-world countries, but that doesn't mean that they aren't important. It's natural to be concerned with how our country is being (mis)governed because we are affected by parliament's decisions.

Of course Canada's problems are important and I don't think anyone wants to tell you to stop being concerned.

It's something to be concerned about, but saying that it's a reason to leave the country just seems a bit ... I don't know how to say it ... weird to me, because even with the new government, the quality of life will still be better than in many other countries.

Maybe that's what death's_friend wanted to say. :uhoh:

Would make more sense.

Is there any country in Europe I can move too? Totally serious here. :(

Look up New World Order, David Icke, Free trade (bad), and that may point you in the direction where your country is going. If your country was working well with its policies before, they should not change it.

Except the reason we had this election is because our government was corrupt and there was a motion of no confidence, and now we have the same government but this time they're a majority.

It sounds like someone made the gov corrupt so they would have this election to bring to the goals of NWO. This may sound like the voice of doom, but that sounds like the direction that most gov are going toward. The best solution is to straighten up gov corruption before it gets out of hand.

It is very important if you want to make changes and get rid of the old gov you must make sure that the new one is stable and able to make necessary changes in the right way, I don't know how to fix the health care system, but in the USA 33% of medical bills are not paid, and the gov wants to make changes that everyone has to have health insurance. I don't know how the health benefits work in Europe, but I heard everyone has them and they are well controlled by the gov. I heard that in Europe from bands that tour there is that you can not buy vitamins without a prescription (unless they are very weak). I heard this from others also. Most Americans are horrified when they hear this. I sent some supplements to someone in Australia and their post office removed them. I knew someone who had a bag of healing herbs sent China and received them. It made a good tasting healing tea. The health laws are different in each country.

Let's hope that you're right so that we can say: Everything's not lost !

Well, I don't know exactly what's afoot up there in leafy Canada, but it looks like the government has gone corporate, thus loosing much of the best things Canada stood for. We've gone down that route for much too long, and the results are not good for most citizens. Less safety nets, more problems. Hope you Canadians can reassert sane government for yourselves, and be the example for the rest of us (and we really need someone to look towards for progress, since the U.S. has gone goofy lately!).

Un-elect corporate control, that's where I think the problem is. Separation of State and Corporations.
