Canada used to be the beauty of the world. People of all cultures, ethnicities, working together. We were internationally respected for our kindness and progressive lives, and our quest for peace.

And now we just gave a health-care hating, Republican-loving, evolution and global warming-denying, Oil Sands loving, war-addicted evangelical gun nut full control of our government. He's been accused of hiding torture and shut down Parliament, plans to shift us into American-style corporatism, and now our civil rights are as threatened as ever. And they've deemed those who established our country as "socialists" and "looney lefties"...

Is there any country in Europe I can move too? Totally serious here. :(

I have always been fond of CANADA for the reasons stated above (yellow) and because of Canada's health-care system. And now you say that with the coming government all that will change. I am sorry indeed.

Europe's having an ongoing sad hick-up too!

It's strange and such a damn pity what happens in Canada, but many countries in Europe are tumbling

towards bad ( right to far right-wing) ends as well. Hungary, Finland, the Netherlands and many others, it's a bad time here too.

Norway might be worth checking out, at least I've heard good things about it regarding humaneness, education, no idea about

their ecological moves though. Maybe you wanna ask some people from this board who live there about it.

They will have a differentiated look on it, I don't really know anything and have never been there myself.

Germany, where I'm from, seems to be on the edge of a very big change towards real sustainability atm. I'm actually slightly super- excited about the

possible corrections towards refined democracy and economy on basis of sustainable ecology here.

But one has to see for the next few years how far this will go. This country is very VERY far from being Shangrila either.

Be adventurous, go to Bhutan! Seriously, go wiki Bhutan, they are doing their own little thing there, and it sounds very interesting. When I get a crisis about life here,I think about moving to Bhutan. But then they might not like me, since I'm not Ngalong, hahaha.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND

WHY HARPER

NOW HAS MAJORITY

HE IS THE REASON WE HAD THIS

NDP SHOULD HAVE WON

CONSERVATIVES WERE TERRIBLE CANDIDATES

CANADA IS SCREWED

ARGH

I'll join you in your going to a different country.

Bhutan is indeed a beautiful place.

Okay Canada, let's relocate to Bhutan and leave the government behind.

What is Bhutan's views on Proselytism?

It says it is illegal, but it doesn't say to what extent?

Sup.

Norway is a nice place to live, even though it can be quite expensive sometimes.

maybe soon there will be another motion of no confidence :|

aaaaaand then conservative will end up having even more seats. :dozey:

Buddhism is anti-proselytic, and my personal experience from having spent 6 months among Tibetans in India is that they also actually fully act and think according anti-proselytism. I tend to think, that Bhutan follows that same path.

Hi! Do you happen to know, how your parliament is put together at the moment?

Too lazy to google it, you know...

So are they even open to debate about religion?

Like if I had the conversations I have on this board with them about religion then it would be illegal? Or is that allowed? Since I would put forward a movement away from religion.

As mentioned before, I spent half a year among Buddhists and since it was that tiny village, where the Dalai Lama lives in exile, there are a lot of people from all over the world searching for IT, whatever it is.

Surely most people came to study Buddhism and eventually take refuge to it ( that's how you call it), but I myself was so inspired by my personal studies of buddhist teachings that I eventually stepped out of all systems ( pure logic!). And that was fine for anyone.

I think the well educated tibetan Buddhist would enjoy your thoughts and both of you would soon agree, that you talk about the same stuff, but only use different words.

The lesser well educated Buddhist wouldn't care, because they are not taught to missionise. They also wouldn't throw stones at you or talk behind your back about what an evil bastard you are.

To start with, there's no God in Buddhism. It's all inside yourself.

I guess you would agree with this, non?

It's impressive, go see the conference of Dalai Lama in Zurich in 2005 :nice:

Did you get something valuable out of it?

I got to shake hands with him and totally made him giggle, since I looked like a top-notch nutter that day. Other than that, I thought he's a really down to earth man. With such an intense life!

And what we don't know in the West, he was holding together a rather sad lot of

quarreling parties and gosh, all that crazy superstition of the average Tibetan alone must have driven him crazy on many an occasion.

Edit: I need to go now. Bye everyone.

I agree with that. But on the other hand I don't like the way that non-Buddhist missionaries are not allowed, but Buddhist are. Looks like a monopoly to me. I'd rather it be allowed, but open to criticism and debate, rather than ban them. I'm not for censorship of things that don't infringe upon others. Coercing someone into religion is not good, but allowing one religion a monopoly on it seems a little strange to me, if they see missionaries as bad.

Sounds like just another form of dictatorship to me.:dozey:

you Lucky. I just heard, and Dalai Lama emanates from him so much peace, happy, love and respect for each person.

So this madness world, it lacks the freedom to speak and be ourselves.

people do not like things simple, and it's a disaster. everybody wants to be right. but anyway, not many people understood the fundamental human right.

is the respect and empathy not exist much in the world

Australia is the best because we are away from everyone :D

No, some of our politicians are horribly shit too.

it seems like so many people are really upset. It reminds me of when I was in HS and Bush was elected for a 2nd term. Everyone found out during the day and when they everyone in the school became depressed and pissed off.
