The biggest lottery jackpot ever up for grabs for punters in the UK has grown after no-one won the EuroMillions on Friday.

 

A massive £154m haul is now on offer in Tuesday's draw as the top prize rolls over yet again. The prize is now the biggest ever made available in Europe and will see millions rushing to buy a ticket.

 

Anyone who bags the jackpot will become the biggest UK winner, outstripping the previous highest who won £113m last October. Before this week, the largest jackpot in the UK was £126,059,632 in a EuroMillions draw in February 2006.

 

A National Lottery spokesman said: "As well as giving players the chance to win this amazing jackpot, this draw will also guarantee more money for good causes here in the UK."

 

The series of rollovers that has created this monster jackpot has already raised £60m for charitable projects in Britain. If one winner takes the prize, they would come between Eric Clapton (£125m) and Tom Jones (£140m) on the Sunday Times Rich List.

EuroMillions Now At £154 Million Largest Ever Jackpot

 

The EuroMillions Jackpot has risen again. It was rolled over the twelfth time yesterday since May 24th when no one claimed the winning numbers. Last night, it was estimated to be worth £141 million. Tuesday’s draw is now predicted to be around £154 million, which is equivalent to $223,469,400. The winner will instantly find themselves owning more money that some film stars like Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow and “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe.

 

Winning is a little more difficult than it used to be. In March, the number of lucky stars was raised from nine to eleven, meaning that the odds of matching those as well as the main numbers shot from one is 76 million to one in 116 ½ million.

 

Last night’s winning numbers were 8, 11, 23, 31, and 46. The lucky stars were 8 and 9. Fourteen tickets did match five numbers plus one star, scoring prizes netting £159,128 each.

 

“This is amazing news,” a spokesman for the National Lottery said. “If a single ticket-holder were to win, they would soar to the top of the exclusive National Lottery Rich List. This is going to get people up and down the country really excited. Needless to say, the champagne is on ice and we hope to be creating lots more UK winners in the draw.”

 

Despite all the jealousy that is already being formed towards whoever the lucky winner will be, there is a large upside to the proceedings for everyone. “The £154 million EuroMillions jackpot up for grabs on Tuesday is the biggest ever offered in Europe,” the spokesman went on. “This EuroMillions roll series alone has already contributed over £60 million to the £26 billion raised for good causes since the launch of the National Lottery nearly seventeen years ago.” We think £60 million towards charity is definitely cause for celebration.

 

If a single ticket holder scores the prize, it will be the largest individual win in EuroMillions history. The current holder of that title, an anonymous British citizen, won £113 million last October. The largest win of all was in February 2006 when the win was split between three citizens, one Portuguese and two French ticket holders. The three split £126 million.

The EuroMillions jackpot will hit an estimated £166 million after no lucky winner emerged tonight.

 

The prize money, which would create the biggest winner in Europe if a single ticketholder scooped the lot, will now roll over to Friday's draw. A National Lottery spokesman said: "This Friday's EuroMillions jackpot is now a staggering £166 million."

 

For the second time in a row no one matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers to win the jackpot. The current biggest lottery winner in the UK is an anonymous ticketholder who scooped a £113 million prize last October. On August 22, 2009, a single ticket won Italy's SuperEnalotto jackpot, which stood at 147,807,299.08 euros (£128.3 million at the time).

 

The EuroMillions jackpot can grow to a maximum of 185 million euros - about £166 million. If no one wins it this Friday, it will be frozen until a lucky player matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers to win.

 

Any prize money which would have boosted the jackpot above that level is passed down to the next prize-winning level in each draw boosting the prizes to those winners, Camelot said.

 

The winner would be the equivalent of 418th on the Sunday Times Rich List.

THE biggest ever UK Lotto jackpot of £166million went unclaimed last night but two Brits netted £3.3million with the second prize.

 

The EuroMillions top prize will now rollover for a 14th time - with £166million still up for grabs on Tuesday. The jackpot has reached its limit, so ticket sales will fund bigger lower tier prizes.

 

Last night's two winning Brits benefited from that policy, when they were among six people who matched five numbers and one lucky star. The numbers were 12, 13, 23, 40 and 49, Lucky Stars 7 and 10. Punters were buying 900 tickets a second yesterday in the hope of landing the big win - and becoming the country's 418th richest person.

 

The biggest UK Lotto win is £113million, by an anonymous EuroMillions punter last October.

But one has to consider the odds. Hm, let's see.. Odds of being struck by lightning, 1:600,000. Odds of being hit by a falling meteor, 1:100,000,000. Odds of winning the lottery, 1:195,000,000. Odds of bowling a 300 game, 1:11,500. Odds of getting a hole-in-one while golfing, 1:5,000. Odds of enjoying a sunny day while walking in the park, 1:3. :laugh3:

Well, the smaller jackpots obviously have more winners, so if you just like the fun the idea of winning gives you, well hey, no big deal.
