in my american studies class, we were discussing dominant, alternative, and oppositional forces in society by using musicians and music groups as examples. john mayer was dominant, pearl jam was alternative (specific themes in the music that not everyone relates to, vaguely political but still on a major label etc), and i suggested radiohead as oppositional, mainly because of the whole in rainbows release and their political lyrics etc etc. but my teacher claims they're not political enough to be considered oppositional. put on the spot like that, i couldn't come up with any good examples (where is my radiohead book of scholarly articles when i need it?), but i still maintain that my professor was wrong. i think radiohead are pretty political/comment on society a lot, or at least more than most groups. am i completely wrong?

To start things off we asked James Holden and Diplo to do their versions.

Now the elements are already being passed around to other artists..

The elements of the song are soon going to be made available to you if you wanna have a go..

If it's anything like the Nude remix site it could get fairly nuts.

We're off to Japan at the weekend.

After the insane response we got from the Nude remix stems and the site that was dedicated to your remixes...Unique visitors: 6,193,776, Page Views: 29,090,134, Hits: 58,340,512, Bandwidth: 10.666 Terabytes, Number of mixes: 2,252, Number of votes: 461,090, Number of track listens: 1,745,304

...we thought it only fair to do the same with a tune that at least is in 4/4. You can get the stems (the different instruments/elements) from here.

 

Sample, cut, take the sounds, whatever. Play it in a club. Or your room. Then if you want you can upload your finished mixes to www.radioheadremix.com and be judged by everyone else. YOu can create a widget allowing votes from your own site, Facebook or MySpace to be sent through too.

waiiiiit, why were they in lancaster? i assume that they mean lancaster, PA. that's like 20 mins away from here; i was there on sunday. but what the hell would they be doing there?

It's so different from his voice nowadays.

He sings much higher these days, though I gotta say I prefer his 'Bends-era voice'.

It has more power to it.

 

But Thom still manages to sing beautiful, for instance on new song 'Super Collider'...

I saw them in August. Best show of my life, probably. I took three videos but my youtube account is all weird so only one is working now. It's annoying because I also got There There and Optimistic. I'm getting a new account soon but still, here's the one that exists still. It's All I Need:
