  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

^from the beginning I've had the sneaking suspicion that they'll eventually face off against each other (preferably in the final) and the resulting conflict and turmoil will tear the coldplaying republic to shreds!

Radiohead's Managers Advised Band to Break Up Before In Rainbows

Imagine a world without Radiohead. Sad, isn't it? Well, if the band had followed its management's advice, we would be living in such a world right now--and we wouldn't even have In Rainbows to listen to. Or "the Radiohead model" to follow. (Though, surely, we would have come up with a different name for the latter.)

The Irish Times reports that Brian Message, of Radiohead's management company Courtyard Management, along with two of his partners, "actually advised the band to split up," during the making of In Rainbows. (Via the Daily Swarm.) Kind of weird that this guy is admitting something like this...

:stunned:

Only to return for a permanent reunion!

Right? :S

(I'm also kind of irked by the term "Radiohead model;" lots of independent bands had been doing that before, and lots of fairly mainstream bands had given their albums away for free. I'll definitely admit that they're the biggest name to do it, but now any artist who gives anything away is automatically accused of copying them, which isn't fair. I mean, even if they were, who doesn't like free things?)

I think what he was trying to tell the band, was that if they couldn't make songs that sounded good, perhaps it was time to throw in the towel. I mean think about it. There are so many bands that have outstayed their welcome by releasing subpar material (Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney from mid 80's-early 90's, and others). I think what he was trying to do is perhaps have the band end on a high note rather than a low point.

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the_gloaming09 (sorry forgot your name) as like Mr. Radiohead around here? You just seem to represent Radiohead fans on this forum.

you better edit that quick before briggins gets back from his concert! :uhoh:

Sorry, I see Briggs as more of a random Radioheader member...gloaming just is Radiohead fan.
