Radiohead hit the studio for new album

Colin Greenwood speaks about follow-up to 'In Rainbows'

May 18, 2009

Radiohead's Colin Greenwood has told NME.COM the Oxford band have begun recording their new album with producer Nigel Godrich.

The bassist revealed that the band went into the studio to start work on the follow-up to 2007's 'In Rainbows' last week (beginning May 11)

"We've just started work [in the studio] last week," he told NME.COM. "It's really cool and everything is sounding great. It's early days and it is a bit like having a scrapbook at the moment because everything is up in the air, but it's good to be back in the studio."

He was quick to praise Godrich, who has produced every Radiohead album since 1997's 'OK Computer'.

"He's brilliant," Greenwood gushed. "He can make everything sound like it's working together rather than us trying to kill each other."

Greenwood was speaking at Brighton's Great Escape festival, which took place over the weekend (May 13-16).

:stunned: :smug:

I don't speak very good english.. but this mean they'll be working on a new album, right?

yes they are

I think I just died a bit now. :stunned:

ohhhhhhhhhhh

I can't wait!!

:smug:

I don't think we should n't be that excited, they are gonna surprise us like 15 days before the release no matter what news say, or unless they record this one as fast as hail to the thief

i doubt they'll record this as fast as HTTT. The band were not very satisfied with the final product. I think they just wanted to experiment by recording the songs quickly. I think they'll take their time, but not nearly as long as it took them for IR. Being optimistic (pun intended :P), i think they'll have the album finished by the end of the year-beginning next year, but i dunno if we'll actually get to hear it by the end of the year.

I hope they understand the best they can is good enough
