  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

if i don't like this album i won't be too disappointed. they are my favourite band so there is some expectation but post bends they have made pretty much perfect albums and plenty of them but it's bound to dip some day. they've made more amazing albums than any other band imo so they've already surpassed what i deem an acceptable contribution to my music taste by quite a long way. plus bands have dodgy albums then return to form all the time so it wouldn't necessarily be the end, could be a blip. i had this mind set for in rainbows too making it a very pleasant surprise.

you should listen to live versions w/ the band (Atoms for Peace)... it has helped me to like songs I used to not care for as much

Acoustic version of The Clock is much better than the album version

My fav.

In some sense I don't really have any expectations for the album. Of course I would like it to be amazing and click the first time and love the whole thin. But I won't be too disappointed if I don't like the new album at first because believe it or not I wasn't such a huge fan of In Rainbows when it first came out, and even other songs that have been released since then have taken some time to listen and get into (Feeling Pulled Apart, Harry Patch, I think even Twisted Words at first). But I feel that in the end over time I'll probably end up liking most of the songs. Even songs I used to hate by the band I'm starting to like now.

Honestly Alexa, the band have been so secretive about the new album, that I doubt they're going to give us much more news before the release.

i used to not like Harrowdown Hill but i just listened to it again and i now i love it......i love that whole album except for The Clock...that song for some reason doesnt stick
Like others said, listen to live versions... I didn't really appreciate this same song until I heard it live and now I like it even though it's far from being my favourite.

I don't think they can make anything worse than Pablo Honey, so we're all good.

I'm a bit worried about the album, the turn they've taken post-In Rainbows is to make these weird electronicy songs that are really hard for me to get into... so I suppose my expectations are a bit meh.

Probably even if I don't like it I'll get into it after a few listens, though. Radiohead are like that for me.

think yourself lucky you weren't a big fan when kid a came out. would have taken you years

(it's a guess you weren't following them then given your statement)

Really? I feel that lately they have taken a more almost acoustic and piano-ish turn. Like the Present Tense, Open the Floodgates, Lotus Flower, etc.

I'm really excited for it, I'm thinking it will be like a post-Reckoner type of album.

I actually really like Pablo Honey... My least fav is Amnesiac

true, but then again it's only solo performances of the songs so we have no idea what the full band version is like

True. I just don't see songs like that going all electro though. Maybe strings sections and stuff.

^^yeah. it seems they have broken a bit away from electronica (with 15 Step being pretty much the only exception).

^the studio version of DITNU is great! I think the strings work so well, but I personally miss how the guitar starts the song.

Oh, I'm sure. :dead:

Yeah but I don't like all of those, and the ones I do like took me forever to warm up to.

I like the studio version too. I'm a sucker for strings.

same, especially songs like Harry Patch, Nude, HTDC

I forgot all about Harry Patch. I don't even have that song haha. Wow. Fail fan.

what?!?!

briggins... that is a major fail.

You're starting to lose your Radiohead credibility :P

I think its because I was at camp when it came out and just forgot about it.

Soon we'll find out you're actually carefully reading the Wikipedia article about them each time before you post here. :snobby:

I've never listened to a Radiohead song in my life.

I don't really see Radiohead taking too much of an 'electronica' direction. Whilst 15 step had drum samples, its just too 'easy' and 'similar' to the direction of most artists these days. I'd say we had a better chance of strings.
