i completely agreee. it seems like 4 years for 11 songs (including supercollider and the butcher + TAMTW) in regards to this album is a little depressing....

TKOL is not bad... I still like it, but it seems way to short.

 

 

It's just mostly disappointing because you wait so long for a new album, which itself was disappointing and underwhelming, and now it seems like that was it. Also it sucks because there are still so many songs they have (present tense, daily mail, ring/wake me (before they come), a walk down the staircase, burn the witch, skirting on the surface) and I guess those are just going to be shelved like so many other songs (Big Boots, Follow Me Around, Lift, True Love Waits)

They've produced enough in the past to dictate their own terms. They don't owe us anything and I'd much rather they'd release small amounts of gold than frequent watered down samey stuff. I was hoping for a follow up, but there are plenty of other bands around and I don't want them to burn out anyway.

You're right I am overreating and they are afterall only a band. But at the same time there aren't many artists that I look forward to a release from as much as them.

The Butcher sounds really great from these clips so far... really reminicent to the soundcheck song I Lie Awake

I see it that they released and album two songs short. In previous years they released a few snippets which covers the rest of the album and a the b-sides, except they didn't fit in with the rest of the album. So it's just like the album came delayed. The thing most people seem to care about is not knowing what was happening, and if that's what everyone is getting pissed about then I don't care.

I've still not listened to the butcher or the supercollider thing. Don't think I will till it's official. I don't think I'll ever look at the universal sigh thing either.

When are the newspaper things due to come?

I put it to the back of my mind after I ordered.

From the online store:

 

The Newspaper Album will be shipped from Monday 9th May 2011.

Orders placed on or after 21st February 2011 (UK time) will ship from 1st June 2011.

 

So assuming you ordered yours when we first had the opportunity, it will ship on or slightly after May 9th.

Since I live in the States, even though it will ship at the same time, I'm not expecting mine until June. Yippee skippee.

edit: NEVERMIND it's going to be in London. That's what I get for misreading.

Still, who knows, maybe they'll perform a bit.

Unfortunately, due to err…unforeseen circumstances that we didn't foresee, some of the vinyl have the labels on the wrong way around. It is too late to recall the vinyl and stick them on the right way round, so here is a copy of the labels for those of you who wish to download, print, cut out and stick on yourself with pritt stick (other glues are available) thus correcting the error. Or we could just rename the songs.
