Adele is so boring, I hope she doesn't win.

I think she's overrated. Very good talent and I respect her for writing her own music but I don't see why people are falling over themselves in their praise of her. I can hear her voice is really good but I just don't like the sound of it for some reason. I'll probably scream if I hear Rolling In The Deep again.

It would have been really good had the shortlist included Nightingale by Erland and the Carnival. They're worthy of a bit more recognition I feel. And what about Smother by Wild Beasts?

I completely agree with you about the subjective thing, It's just that for me she's no different than any other female singer and it gets boring after a few listens. But it's great if you can relate to her songs

Haha, no harm done.

There's a big difference. Adele sings "melancholic" tunes at times, granted, but they still contain "highs", "lows" and hooks, and she seems to put a lot of herself into singing them. When I heard PJ Harvey sing live, she just left me totally "cold".

To me, her songs wouldn't have seemed out of place at a funeral. In fact, at times I felt I was actually at one.:dozey:

Well, I don't really know enough about PJ Harvey to make an assessment, but your explanation makes more sense now, with the way it's worded.

Again, music is subjective. Think what you will of it. I will agree that hearing any song for an extended period of time (e.g. "Rolling in the Deep") can drive a person crazy. It's for this reason I don't listen to the radio so much anymore.

OK, so I thought of this, and I thought I'd ask someone here who knew about it. Am I correct in my assumption that this award is strictly for UK/British artists?

Of course it's subjective. Why else did I put 'I think' and 'I feel'?

Hey, chill out. I was merely saying I was agreeing to disagree. I wasn't trying to insult you or anything.

booooooooriiiiiingggggggggggg

the only album here that i have heard/don't hate is Katy B so i hope she wins

it's just kinda sad that a lot of the best releases this year have been from UK electronic musicians. But they were only singles :(

Sorry about that. I misunderstood what you were getting at....not the first time I've done that.

Yeah, it happens to me sometimes, too. No big.

I've only listened to James Blake and part of Diamond Mine so I don't really know at all.

Not that this is the right thread for it, but who are the Polaris finalists?

Everything Everything!

A brilliant album! I've only heard Elbow, EE, James Blake, Adele, Tinie Tempah & Metronomy from that list though...but Man Alive by Everything Everything is the best, I saw them supporting Keane and they were brilliant live!

I'm only trying to think along the same lines as the judges

Although my personal favouirte out of that list is the King Creosote one

I'm going for James Blake or Adele winning but this is from a teenager in New Zealand who doesn't know about what's happening in the UK

Elbow won't win again will they?

Only listened to Build a Rocket Boys! so I voted for them despite not liking the album all that much. :awesome:

I don't mind Adele.

I've actually only heard Elbow's as a whole  I predict PJ Harvey will win, though.

Pow

I don't mind Adele. It's just pretty boring and unoriginal though :\ sick of the whole 'big voice' female singer thing? why does the world keep falling for it
