to all the "real fans"

Umm... because it's a terrible metaphor. This has nothing to do with "new Coldplay" vs "old Coldplay" - it's objectively bad songwriting (reminds me of girls in high school trying to write "deep" poetry and developing similar metaphors :dozey:)

There is no such thing as 'bad' songwriting!!! If that lyric means something to someone then it is a good lyric. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its bad!

too bad. I like the new direction in terms of CB, HLH and POC but definitely not in terms of Paradise.......it has no passion at all!! And i understand if chris wanted to make the lyrics simple to represent the little young girl but "Life goes on it gets so heavy".......really!?!?!? After listening to it for over two days now, i can tell it won't grow on me.

My reaction to Paradise....ok, maybe not as dramatic though :):

And that, as they say, is that.

No, there is such a thing as "bad" songwriting. Case in point: "It's Friday, Friday / Gotta get down on Friday." But by your logic, if those words mean something to someone, then it must surely be good. :rolleyes:

I don't think you really understand the argument. This has nothing to do with musical style or experimentation. It's simply reading the lyrics and recognizing when it's objectively bad.

I can see why those lyrics could mean something to someone. I was talking exclusively about Coldplay lyrics as this is a Coldplay fansite. There is nothing wrong with ETIAW and Paradise lyrics because they both have a clear meaning.

That is just what I think anyway. All lyrics obviously mean something to the person who wrote, for example.

:lol::laugh3::P

I agree with everything you just said. COLDPLAY fans should accept their music and be proud of them and LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF IT! they should be saying it's different.. But I FUCKING LOVE IT!!! No one wants 34 year olds going I want to be be bigger stronger drive a faster car. People would be asking what the hell hey did in their life. Theyre MATURING!!! and singing about love and their album has a FRICKING story!!! Awesome idea. All their songs are FUCKING fantastic!!! They want to put Rihanna because of the difference between hers and chris' voice. Not because they have the resources to do so. They are developing. Do you really want (if ever) 7 albums of parachutes or a rush of blood??

This is golden. I assume you're 16 years old? :P

should[/size] accept their music and be proud of them and LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF IT!
Really? because otherwise you're not a real fan?

People who say they won't buy he album aren't real fans of COLDPLAY.
Oh, I see. We have a different definition for the word 'real fan'.
People who say they won't buy he album aren't real fans of COLDPLAY.
