I'll get hate for this post, but here it goes. Coldplay have not been "slipping" or declining or whatever the fuck people call it. They have only been experimenting, and obviously in the eyes of a lot of people they have gone wrong. Seriously, what band can please everybody? They obviously don't want to make the same music as they used to. Don't get me wrong, Parachutes and AROBTTH were mind shatteringly good, but it wasn't meant for them to stay that way. Real fans don't like only their old stuff, or hate MX. To me, real fans will let Coldplay do whatever the fuck they want and respect it. Trust me guys, I was pissed when I heard that Rihanna will be on Mylo Xyloto, but they think it will be good, and I trust them. You guys don't, but after a day of thinking, it can't be so bad, I mean if Chris thought she would be a shitty addition then she wouldnt be on the record. I have consistently loved Coldplay for years now, and I happen to like their new direction, however "poppy" it may be.

Dude, did you listen to some of those songs? Lost (and it's terrible + variation), ETIAW, the bloatyness of some X&Y songs that felt unnecessary on the album that sets to be repeated, hell even Viva has its cringe moments.

Well, I think it is. I like a lot of their new tracks from the festivals (HLH, CB, MM, UATW) but I've NEVER disliked a Coldplay song as much as I dislike some of these new tracks. Drop the fucking laptop and make a fucking album! That's what I was hoping for. Yes, I have been a Coldplay fan from Parachutes on but that doesn't mean I want the same damn album. There are infinite possibilities of artwork that can be created with four instruments. Apparently these guys disagree or simply don't want to anymore, but that doesn't change my opinion about what good music is and it certainly doesn't change the fact that I think that much of this new stuff is junk compared to their capabilities. Never in my life have I enjoyed a synthy, poppy band but that's what we are getting now. Some love it, some hate it. And I have my own opinion so as for that other poster that told me to "GTFO", you can simply have a nice day, asshole.

 

I will buy this album in October, and I will likely enjoy a good portion of it but I already know it won't make my list of greatest albums of all time.

Creating a thread in multiple sub-boards just to get more attention is quite honestly not that different from spam.

What I find comical is that you all refer to those who prefer Parachutes/AROBTTH as the "true fans." Wouldn't the true fans be a little more sheepish, wanking over Paradise just as much as ETIAW and conducting in one-on-all combat versus any and all stupid haters?

 

We're not real Coldplay fans. Hell at this point, we're hardly even Coldplay fans at all. A forum is built for discussion, not blind love. I'd rather live my life with no arms and no legs than blindly follow any band the way some of you do. A gram is better than a damn, I suppose. Enjoy your superficial world state, I guess. If they're only doing their job, then they could at least do a good job of it. They're businessmen and market strategizers; I don't want to consider myself an artist a minute of my life if they belittle the title as much as they do. I can write better songs than Paradise. You could probably write a song better than Paradise. Chris Martin certainly can, but he would rather settle for mediocrity. I'm not going to stare at the hypnoflow for all too long, I'm finished. Wake me up when MX drops like a deuce, I'll be enjoying fine new releases by Feist, James Blake, Wilco, and others in the meantime. Those new Drake songs surfaced, I think I'll get to those tonight.

 

 

 

This post is brilliant. I have spent the whole day trying to prove that all we want is good music, a level up, or at least the same level as VLV. Some may dislike VLV era but one cannot deny the EFFORT. Paradise and ETIAW sound lazy to me and lack the effort. So to conclude, I believe that VLV is a huge step up, whereas Paradise and ETIAW as songs are a step down. MTM, Charlie Brown and UATW for instance, live up to Coldplay's standards, or maybe even surpass them.

But I don't think anyone wants 'The Scientist V2, or AROBTTH Part 2 or whatever. We just want quality music. The kind of quality music Coldplay used to have.

to me is the proof that chris is no more able to write good songs, the "they have only been experimenting" is just an excuse.

There are so many threads like this and they all end up the same way. Sometimes you can just copy and paste and you would not be able to tell the difference....

 

How about a breath of fresh air? I am a die-hard fan of MX and its controversial songs (ETIAW and Paradise), but I will do my best to see this from the perspective of those who are disappointed.

 

If I were you, I would probably do one of two things: either ignore Paradise and ET altogether and wait the studio version of songs like UATW or Up with the birds or if I think this band has gone mainstream or downhill or whatever, I would just move on. I get it that you want to voice your disappointment, but personally after voicing a few times, I would just either adjust to MX or find myself a new favorite artist.

 

I am just saying this simply because it won´t get any better with continuous threads about how the new music is crap or Coldplay have gone mainstream. Get onboard of the MX train or don´t. I love discussions but this is becoming redundant...am I the only feeling this?
