Hat jemand von Euch eigentlich bemerkt, das Gentleman mit seiner Frau bei diesem Konzert war?

 

Auf dem Panoramabild kann man ihn ganz gut sehen, front of stage ziemlich weit links, also auf Guys Seite etwas oberhalb eines dunklen Regenschirms. Er hat wie so oft seine graue Mütze an und links neben Ihm steht seine Frau Tamika.

 

 

Did anyone notice that Reggae star Gentleman and his wife Tamika were at this gig?

I had a look at the list - recognizing some of them.

 

I have translated "Coldplay in München Meister der Gefühlsduselei" - "Coldplay in Munich are masters of sentimentality" and "the Pop-Nachtkritik: Coldplay heizt den Münchners ein - Coldplay put the München audience on fire". I see that there was another article having the same name - probably a more thorough review (might have a look at that one later).

 

There were a few previews (Konzerte im Olympiastadion Solo für Coldplay + Olympiastation: Die Vorbereitungen für Coldplay laufen auf about the preparations for the Coldplay concert the same evening).

 

There are some short ones all titled: "Coldplay greift daneben" most of them online media - I translated one - it is about Chris making or faking a mistake causing him to stop in the middle of a song and then

start again. Text-TV from ARD had the same text / contents. Only difference from the one I translated was the mention of the clothes the fans were wearing.

 

There is also a German review of the Paralympics closing ceremony (Abendzeitung München).

 

But not having unlimited time I have decided to translate the two mentioned below and also figuring on the list posted by a coldplayer (or the link was posted):

Bei Dauerregen haben Coldplay 55 000 Fans im Münchner Olympiastadion wenigstens die Herzen gewärmt. Mit einer wunderschönen Show und der Fähigkeit, auch den ältesten Songs live neues, sympathischeres Leben einzuhauchen.

 

Das mit Freiluftveranstaltungen im September ist zumindest in Mitteleuropa eine äußerst heikle Angelegenheit. Schließlich ist man – Klimaerwärmung hin oder her – den vorherrschenden Wetterbedingungen auf einem Open Air auf Gedeih und Verderb ausgeliefert. Die Berliner Spaßrocker von den Ärzten haben sich vor Jahren mal in diesem so heimtückischen Wettermonat auf die Burg von Kufstein gewagt. Zur Begrüßung fragte Sänger Farin Urlaub die im strömenden Regen frierenden Fans im knöcheltiefen Morast des idyllischen österreichischen Ambiente nicht ohne Grund, wann denn endlich der von ihm bestellte Schnee falle. Bei Temperaturen nur knapp über dem Gefrierpunkt wurde sein Wunsch kurz vor dem letzten Zugabenblock mit einsetzendem Schneeregen tatsächlich erfüllt.

 

Immerhin: Schneefall blieb den 55 000 Fans der britischen Poprockformation Coldplay am Mittwochabend im weiten Rund des Münchner Olympiastadions erspart. Bei Temperaturen von unwirtlichen zehn Grad und stetem Regen wurden sie dennoch auf eine äußerst unangenehme Probe gestellt. Findige Verkäufer im Areal des Münchner Olympiaparks schenkten – nur drei Tage nach einem herrlich warmen Sommerwochenende – flugs Glühwein aus. Der Absatz dürfte nicht unerheblich ausgefallen sein.

Angesichts dieser Begleitumstände ist die Leistung des Quartetts aus London um Sänger Chris Martin hoch anzusiedeln. Mehr als einmal zauberten Coldplay der vornehmlich in bunten Regen- oder gar Winterjacken ausstaffierten Open-Air-Masse ein Lächeln ins Gesicht. Ganz getreu ihres Songs „God put a smile upon your face“.

 

Mit ausschlaggebend für die zahlreichen Glücksmomente der Fans war – neben mannigfaltiger Effekthaschereien wie Feuerwerk, Konfettiregen oder – sehr schön! – an alle Besucher verteilte blinkende, bunte Leuchtarmbänder – die Fähigkeit der Band, selbst den abgenudeltesten Songs live neues, sympathischeres Leben einzuhauchen.

 

Herzenswärmer aus der zweiten Reihe

 

Hits wie „Yellow“, „The Scientist“ oder „Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall“ sind Selbstläufer. Aber die Songs aus der zweiten Reihe, ob „Paradise“, „Charlie Brown“ oder „Speed Of Sound“ (auf einer kleinen Bühne inmitten der Arena): Lieder, bei denen man mittlerweile doch schon mal leicht genervt den Radiosender wechselt, wachsen bei Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion und Guy Berryman auf der Bühne über sich hinaus. Und erwärmen den Fans – so wie an diesem kalten Abend in München – das Herz.

But the songs from the second row - be it "Paradise“, „Charlie Brown“ or „Speed Of Sound“ (played on a small stage in the middle of the Arena): Songs where you often - a bit annoyed - change radio station are growing when played by Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman on the stage. Widerliches Herbstwetter machte sich über München breit, aber die Band Coldplay trieb bei ihrem Konzert pure Freude ins Olympiastadion - auch wenn Chris Martin ein Lied abbrach.

Die britischen Popstars schafften es am Mittwochabend, 55.000 Zuschauern im Münchner Olympiastadion das widerlichste Herbstwetter aus Knochen und Gemüt zu treiben - mit einer Bonbon-bunten Show, der vollen Hitparade und großer Spielfreude.

 

Chris Martin: "Das beste Konzert, auf dem ihr je gewesen seid!"

 

Das Versprechen von Chris Martin folgte gleich auf den bombastischen Helden-Einzug: Übers sehr gut gefüllte Münchner Olympiastadion wälzte sich dunkelstes Gewölk, aus dem es bei einstelligen Temperaturen und böigem Wind auch rechtzeitig zum Auftakt des Konzerts stetig und fies zu zu regnen begonnen hatte. Aber wie gleich zum Opener "Mylo Xyloto" Feuerwerk und Laser das Grau bunt malten und dazu die an alle Zuschauer ausgegebenen farbigen Armbänder aus dem weiten Oval ein buntes blinkendes Lichtermeer zauberten, so versprach der Sänger allen Widrigkeiten zum Trotz einen Abend der Lebensfreude zu machen, des gemeinsamen Feierns, ja sogar: "Das beste Konzert, auf dem ihr je gewesen seid!"

 

Über letzteres freilich lässt sich streiten. Nicht, weil Chris Martin in den Zugaben die Akustik-Version von "Speed of Sound" im Chorus vergeigt und darum abgebrochen hat und erst im zweiten Versuch ordentlich hinbekommen hat. Über solcherlei weiß der charmante Kerl ja trefflich hinwegzutrösten durch seinen ansonsten vollen Einsatz: sein Strahlen und Tollen, seine volle Hingabe trotz Regen und Kälte.

 

Pop in Perfektion als Unterhaltungsbetrieb

 

Aber zu den wahrhaft magischen Momenten fehlt der britischen Band vielleicht das Pathos, die Innigkeit. Hier herrscht Pop in Perfektion als Unterhaltungsbetrieb. Mit Chris Martin und seinen drei Kollegen feiert man nicht nur an einem solchen Abend erfolgreich gegen das widrige Wetter an, sondern geht grundsätzlich gegen die Widrigkeiten der Welt an, nicht durch deren Durchdringung, sondern durch durch ein Abwenden, durch die Besinnung auf das Freudige und Schöne - so will es ja nicht zuletzt auch das aktuelle Album "Mylo Xyloto" programmatisch.

 

Und so wirkten Coldplay bei ihrem knapp zweistündigen Konzert an diesem Mittwochabend dann auch. Gleich in der ersten Viertelstunde gab's zu Laser und buntem Blinken und Feuerwerk auch noch Konfettikanonade und Spaßbälle für den Zuschauerraum, die Band tauchte neben der großen, mit fünf runden Großleinwänden hinterfangenen Hauptbühne auch gleich auf zwei Außenstellen im Publikum auf, natürlich gab's "Paradise" und "Viva la vida", gab's stillere Momente am Klavier und E-Gitarren-Dröhnung, gab's ein großen Finale mit vollem Feuerwerk und Liebesbekundungen (Chris küsste gar symbolisch den Münchner Boden), viel Neon und ein bisschen Schwarz-Weiß, und viel, viel Nettigkeit. So dass 55.000 Menschen danach nicht nur äußerlich gewärmt in die Münchner Nacht strömten, die auch plötzlich gar nicht mehr so garstig schien. Der Regen hatte eben doch noch aufgehört und das Armband blinkte bei einigen noch immer bunt, als die Show längst vorbei war.

Nasty autumn weather began to spread over Munich, but the band Coldplay brought pure joy to the Olympic Stadium at their concert - even though Chris Martin stopped in the middle of a song.

Chris Martin: "The best concert that you have ever attended / experienced!"

 

Chris Martin's promise followed the bombastic entry of heroes: The darkest clouds rolled over the well-filled Olympic Stadium, and at single-digit temperatures and gusty winds it had started to rain steadily and nasty from the clouds also on time at the kick-off of the concert and nasty too. But at the time of the opener, "Mylo Xyloto", fireworks and laser painted the gray colorful and the colourful wristbands that had been distributed to all viewers conjured a colourful flashing sea of lights from the wide oval, then the singer promised - despite all adversity - to make it an evening of joy, of joint celebration, even: "the best concert you've ever attended!"

 

As to the latter, that is debatable. In the first quarter of an hour there were lasers and colorful flashing and fireworks accompanied by cannonade of confetti and fun balls for the audience, the band not only appeared on the large main stage that was supplied with five circular big screens, but also on two smaller stages in the audience, of course, "Paradise" and "Viva la vida" were played, there were quieter moments at the piano and roaring electric guitars, there was one grand finale with fireworks show and demonstrations of love (Chris even symbolically kissed the ground of Munich), lots of neon and a little black and white, and much, much niceness. So that 55,000 people not only externally heated flocked in the Munich night which suddenly no longer seemed so nasty. The rain had just stopped, and the wristbands of some concert-goers continued to flash colourfully as the show had been over for some time.

Danke, aber ich habe keine Lust, youtube zu durchforsten und User dort anzuschreiben um nach den Originalvideos zu fragen. Hatte gehofft, dass Leute von hier sich melden würden damit das ganze schneller und vielleicht organisierter vonstatten gehen kann.

Ich hatte ja ursprünglich vor, das komplette Konzert mizufilmen, aber da hier keiner wirkliche Unterstützung anbot, habe ich es gelassen und nur 5-6 Songs gefilmt. Sehr schadem noch dazu weil ich kurz vor dem Konzert erfuhr, dass das Konzert im Radio übertragen wird, also eine top Audioquelle da ist.

 

Gestern Abend habe ich aus Neugier mal gesucht, was es zu Hurts Like Heaven zu finden gibt und habe diese schnelle Multicam gemacht, einfach um mal zu sehen wie es potentiell aussehen könnte:

Ganz passabel. Aber wie gesagt, hab ich keinen Bock (mehr) das mit der Organisation der Files alles alleine zu stemmen, bzw. überhaupt. Habe eh nicht viel Zeit wegen der Arbeit und einer Bruce Springsteen-Multicam, die ich derzeit mache. Noch dazu habe ich immer weniger Lust, großteils verwackelte Videos und Videoschnipsel mühsam zu synchronisieren (Springsteenfans sind daganz schlimm teilweise :D) um eine möglichst optimale Kameraführung zu bekommen, oder das Problem mit den Geistergesichtern zu akzeptieren. Bin da seit ein paar Projekten etwas pingeliger geworden, bzw. weniger motiviert deswegen :\.

Temperatursturz, Nässe, Regen, Stau - die Voraussetzungen für das "größte Konzert des Jahres" sind alles andere als gut. Doch Coldplay heizt den Münchnern richtig ein.

 

Wie vom Blitz getroffen bricht Chris Martin auf der Bühne zusammen. Regungslos liegt er auf einer bunten Konfettidecke, die Musik ist längst verstummt. Doch die 55000 Fans im Olympiastadion wissen, wie man den Frontmann von Coldplay wiederbelebt: „Oh oh oh, oh oh oh“ singen sie, erst leise, dann immer lauter, bis Martin wieder aufspringt.

 

Der „Viva la vida“-Chorus hat sich längst in jedem Fußballstadion etabliert. Da ist es schon fast ironisch, dass in München längst woanders der Ball rollt, und Bastian Schweinsteiger samt Anhang dem bunten Treiben beiwohnt. Überhaupt ist die Show der Briten, wie schon ihr aufregendes Abschlusskonzert bei den Paralympics, eine sportliche Veranstaltung. Die fünf runden Bühnen-Screens, auf der man die Band auch mal in ästhetisch-verregnetem Schwarzweiß bewundern kann, erinnern an auseinandergeschobene Olympiaringe. Und das olympische Motto „Dabei sein ist alles“ haben sich auch die durchgefrorenen Fans auf die Regenschirme geschrieben, die stundenlang in der Nässe auf ihre Idole warten.

 

Wenn es eine Gruppe gibt, die Petrus den Stinkefinger zeigen kann, dann Coldplay. Ihr Auftritt als spektakulär zu bezeichnen, ist eine glatte Untertreibung. Gleich zu Beginn fahren die vier Musiker alles auf, was der Bühnenapparat hergibt. Zischende Raketen, bunte Laserblitze und natürlich wieder Konfetti. Als ob das nicht schon genug des optischen Overkills wäre, hat die Band auch noch ferngesteuerte, elektronische Lichterarmbänder verteilt.

 

Ob sich der daraus entstehende Müll mit Martins Öko-Anspruch verträgt, steht auf einem anderen Blatt. Wer vor drei Jahren im Reitstadion Riem bereits dabei war, wird erkennen, dass Coldplay neben dem „Viel hilft viel“-Motto dramaturgisch wenig Neues eingefallen ist. Martin verspielt sich mal wieder gekonnt („Speed of Sound“), kokettiert mit seinen Deutschkenntnissen, nutzt eine kleine Nebenbühne als entspanntes Akustikset und verlässt sich vor allem auf alte Hits wie „Yellow“.

Wen stört es da schon, dass die Rockstar-Gossensprache-Attitüde („That’s teamwork, motherfucker!“) samt Gitarre in die Luft werfen affektiert wirkt. Dass die Band trotz aller Kommerzialität noch witzig sein kann, beweist sie mit der Spontaneinlage von „Singin’ in the Rain“. Welch treffender Abschluss für das einzige Konzert im Olympiastadion in diesem Jahr. 2013 sieht die Sache anders aus, da werden sechs Weltstars im Areal erwartet. Wir spekulieren schon mal darauf, dass einer Robbie Williams heißt.

Drop in temperature, moisture, rain, traffic jams – the conditions for the "biggest concert of the year" are anything but good. But Coldplay manages to put the Munich audience on fire.

 

Thunderstruck (= amazed), Chris Martin collapses on stage. Motionless, he lies on a cover of colorful confetti, the music has stopped a little while ago. But the 55,000 fans at the Olympic Stadium know how to revive the singer of Coldplay: "Oh oh oh, oh oh oh" they sing, softly at first, then louder and louder, until Martin jumps up.

 

The ”Viva la Vida” chant has been well-established at every football stadium for a long time. It is almost ironic that in Munich - and for a long time whereever the footfall rolls - Bastian Schweinsteiger and friend(s) are present at the colourful buzz. Anyway, the Brits’ show is a sporting event – as was their exciting concert at the Paralympics closing ceremony. The five circular stage screens - on which you can also sometimes admire the band in aesthetic-rainy black/white - remind us of Olympic rings pushed apart. And the extremely cold fans who had been waiting for hours in the wet weather for their idols have written the Olympic motto “it’s not the winning, it’s the taking part” on their umbrellas.

 

If there is a group that can give the weather gods the stinking finger, then Coldplay. To characterize their performance as spectacular is an understatement. Right at the beginning, the four musicians make use of everything the stage apparatus can provide. Fireworks, colourful laser flashes and of course confetti. As if that was not enough optical overkill, the band has also handed out remotely-controlled electronic flashing wristband/bracelets to the concert-goers.

 

Whether the resulting waste is consistent with Martin’s eco-claim is another matter. Who was already there in Reitstadion Riem (riding stadium in Riem, Munich) three years ago, will realize that Coldplay - apart from the "more is better" motto - has come up with dramatically little new. Martin once again skilfully pretends to make a mistake ("Speed of Sound"), flirts with his knowledge of German, uses a small side stage as relaxed acoustic set and relies mainly on old hits like "Yellow".

 

Who cares that the rockstar-foul language-attitude ("That's teamwork, motherfucker!") and the throwing guitar in the air seem affected. That the band can still be funny in spite of commerciality is proven with the spontaneous inclusion of "Singin 'in the Rain." What appropriate conclusion to the only concert at the Olympic Stadium this year. In 2013, the story is different as six world stars are expected in this area. We are speculating whether one of them is Robbie Williams.

Hi, i´m back from Munich,this review is a bit longer than my Cologne review

and i have no idea,how to do the spoiler thing,so bear with me please.

Also, i wrote most of it last night,so i don´t forget things.My thoughts where a bit all over the place :D

 

The weather was rather bad,it was pretty cold and raining.

Upon arrivel,i got a red wristband(yay,different color this time) which i later found out wasn´t working properly.It kept blinking through the whole show and only stopping on my way back to the hotel.

I´ve never been to the Olympia Stadion before.The Stage was pretty far away from the seats but i was lucky,the C-Stage was right in front of my section.

The boys where amazing,they gave everything,despite the cold and the rain.

Will hit the drums so hard,at certain songs,he looked like his arms where in pain.

I loved all the smiles they gave each other,that shows,that they really like playing together.

Once again, my favorite Song of the night was God Put a Smile Upon Your Face,with Major Minus a close second.

In Cologne i had a seat on the side of the Stage,so i couldn´t see the full effect of the Laser and Fireworks.This time i could.The rain made it look even more beautiful.

A Stadium full of wristbands looks really magnific,i will never forget the sight.

I have to say that the singing of the Mellow Yellow Intro sounds incredible sexy

(sorry for the fangirl moment:D).

Chris changed the Lyrics of some songs,like he always does,into something City

related but i had the feeling most people around me didn´t get it.

Some of the people around me got up through out the show,

to get new beer and stuff.I don´t get it,you pay a lot of money to see them and then you keep walking back and forth.That was completely different in Cologne.

 

I am not sure if it was just my feeling but i thought that the crowd was a lot harder to get going than in Cologne.Maybe it was the weather.

Also, in my Opinion they sold more Merchandise in Cologne than in Munich,you didn´t have to wait at the stalls.

What was great was the response of our section.

We where always singing along, clapping and cheering.

People in my row left after Paradise,unbelievable.

They took the Vans to get to the C-Stage, i loved the cheers they got,when they

stepped up on the Stage.

Chris said he f*cked up at Speed of Sound but i didn´t hear an mistake.

Afterwards they ran back to the Main Stage,past my section,which was awesome because everybody started cheering for them like crazy.:D

Chris sang Singing in the rain before Fix You,which sounded beautiful.

After Fix You we got to celebrate Jonnys Birthday,which felt really special to me.

He got a new Cap and a bottle, of what looked like Champagne from the Boys.

When the Band arrived,i could see a bunch of balloons been taken out of the Car but they never made it on Stage.

 

The only negative point for me, was that i coudn´t always see properly,because the guy in front of me was really tall:(

 

Nonetheless i had fun.

When i told my family and friends,that i was going to Munich just to see Coldplay,

some of them thought i was nuts.On my flight to Munich even i was thinking"what am i doing ?"

I have never done this before but i have to say, im glad i did it and i would do it again.

So, thank you Coldplay for once again giving me an incredible night.

I totally agree with you regarding the crowd... I think it was very hard for Chris (and even the whole band) to get the crowd involved in the singing...although I started jumping and shouting as from the opening :laugh3:

My friends thought i was nuts too... and for a moment I though it too haha...

I've been to the Turin gig, and it wasn't enough... so we flied from Italy to Munich and we were in the first row, front of stage. It was a great emotion... :)

I don't think so, they'll go to Australia at november, and then probably there will be a latin america tour, and MX tour finishes :shrug: but I really hope for one more concert in germany :\

it was my first concert in Munich and I regret sooooo deeply that I haven't been to more shows :/

Now I hope, that they'll come back :/
