Pitchfork Readers Poll 2011

Featured Replies

Pitchfork - bunch of pretentious hipsters  I'd rather listen to the songs on their Most Annoying list (especially Coldplay and Maroon 5) any day over their Top picks...

Pretentious hipster readers, duh, Eddie!

Have you even tried listening to any of the songs/albums the readers picked?

Or did you immediately notice the lack of Coldplay and automatically deem the lists to be pretentious?

It's ok, be honest.

Pitchfork is not pretentious. They're responsible for introducing a ton of stuff to me that I probably wouldn't have heard otherwise.

Yeah, they're a little off-the-beaten-path, but I think they're pretty respectable. Like them or not, they're responsible for really kickass reviews and they're one of the biggest forces in professional criticism today.

LOL

I agree. I don't really see how anyone can like him other than rebellious american teenagers. The rest of Odd Future though are pretty good. Tyler is bringing the team down!

i prefer to listen to rap that's not about raping bitches tbh

OMG. Eddie and I agree on something. :cheesy:

Also, your last statement. I couldn't agree more.

And Pumped Up Kicks isn't thaaat annoying Yes, it's overplayed on the radio but there are many other songs that are over played and far more annoying

Um, yeah it is. IMO, anyway.

I guess it's because, even though I don't listen to the radio anymore, I hear this song everywhere all the time, and it's really not that great to begin with. (I think it's their weakest track.) Tracks like "Call It What You Want" and "Broken Jaw" are so much better.

The Weeknd = my secret obsession. I love, love, love The Zone. Soo dirty, but the beat is...exhilarating.

The mixtape Thursday is available to download for free somewhere on the internet.

I think all of his mixtapes are free on the Internet. But yeah, I really like him, too.

This post reeks of ignorance.

Haha, that's exactly what I thought, too. Glad I'm not the only one.

Very well put.

I know :phu:

To be honest, I expected Rolling in the Deep to be #1. The song's pretty good but it was way overplayed. For a while, I couldn't go anywhere without hearing it.

Yes (Rolling In The Deep or Someone Like You) waaaay more annoying than Pumped Up Kicks

Their weakest, really? Hmm..I really like it.. Probably cause I liked it before it was played everywhere, but I still like it regardless of it's overplayed-ness

This applies to me too.

^ lolque you told me you hated it since it became popular.

Because it's been overplayed? I still like it, I just find its overplayedness as annoying.

I don't think Pumped Up Kids is a weak song... It's actually a scary song but a good song! Just blew up literally overnight and then it just got played every other song. I think by no means that it is a weak song.

I don't believe that great songs become annoying just because they are overplayed. They're still great songs. If the list of most annoying songs was based solely off of what was "overplayed" then that's a pretty stupid reason to make a list. If that was the case, the list should've just been called a "most overplayed" list.
