  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

wow, that was quick! :stunned:

Thank you so much Jake! :) (it's Jake, right?)

I've just got to post this random quote I found

Matt: Apparently men go into a cave when they get stressed and I think that's probably true, although, personally, I tend to let it out. I did have a bit of a tantrum in my hotel bathroom last night, but I managed to repair the toilet, so that's OK.

I: You trashed a hotel toilet?

Matt: Um sort of. Everyone does that, don't they?

(Matt's rockstar tantrums - Melody Maker December 1999)

:laugh3:

Somehow I doubt he does that very often these days.. not sure he used to do that so often before either.. sure he used to trash his guitar after a show every now and then but for some reason I can't picture him trashing hotel rooms.. at least I think

Con-science

just have to say, I randomly went to see a thread (in another section) which was about some entirely different subject and surprise surprise, it soon turned into a Muse bashing thread.. I know I shouldn't really be bothered to get upset, but I did.. Earlier Muse was a band which was hardly mainstream and just strange I guess so it was very uncool to like them. Now they've apparently become hugely popular in the UK and Europe which of course is not cool, just another good reason to hate them. Oh well.. Luckily(?) in Finland they're neither cool nor popular, so I can continue appreciating their music in peace. Big minus is that since they're not popular here, makes it almost impossible for me to ever see them live, unless I win the lottery.

And then there's the age issue, it's true that there are many 'new' Muse fans who are teenagers, but since I can hardly be counted into that age group (oh God I'm so old :dozey:), it's annoying that all Muse fans are labelled as being teenagers (wait.. what's wrong with being a teenager? you tell me..) Visiting more than one Muse forum I've noticed that many Muse fans are over 20, many are closer to 30 or older. It's true that there are people on every board who seem or/and act stupid and Muse boards (and this board) make no exception. So I guess I have to learn to live with that. Tough for me..

It must be frustrating to see that a band who once were seen as copycats have refused to take the easy road and instead went their own way and developed a style of their own. This has brought them new fans, which should be a good thing. Or ar least one would think so..

so this became an essay.. sorry but I just had to get that out of my system.

if there's anyone who managed to read through or otherwise just skipped to the end.. Muse song of the day *drum roll*

They found it watching Pink Floyd's movie, The Wall. More information here.

Linnea, how could you live without having ever listened to Con-Science ? This song is wonderful !

It truly is a wonderful song :) I only realized I didn't have it when someone mentioned the song here. Thankfully they did mention it and Jake kindly uploaded it, been listening to it many times already.

btw, a friend of mine asked me to make her a compilation cd of Muse songs, she'd like to get to know Muse better. I'd appreciate any sugggestions you musers might have as to which songs I'll put on the cd. She's more into heavier music, not a pop music type of person (whatever that might be lol)

I thought I'd include at least New Born, Citizen Erased, Bliss, Hysteria, Showbiz and KoC, plus some other album trakcs and some b-sides too. Don't quite know what to choose, they have such a great collection of songs.

Any suggestions?

Butterflies and Hurricanes, Plug In Baby, Time Is Running Out, Starlight, Muscle Museum...all the singles would be good for that matter. ;)

thanks, yes I thought I'd make it so that it begins with some Showbiz tracks and then goes through OoS and Absolution to BHAR. think you're right, if I take the singles they would in a way demonstrate how the band has progressed and the songs are quite diverse. might still include some b-sides too, for example Fury and Hyper Chondriac Music.

haha I might have to make a double cd! :D

since she's into the "heavier" music, i guess these songs would appeal more to her;

showbiz = muscle museum, uno

oos = new born, hypermusic, citizen erased

absolution = apocalypse please, stockholm syndrome, hysteria, butterflies & hurricanes, the small print

bh&r = assassin, knights of cydonia

hullaballoo = nature 1 (most awesome-est muse song ever), ashamed

other b-sides = deadstar, in your world, eternally missed, host, house of the rising sun, the groove, fury

that's a good 21 or so songs? which can make an entire cd on its own.

certain songs like sunburn, time is running out, exo-politics, supermassive black hole, etc have more of a 'pop' element to it... not that it does to listeners like us; but to someone who listens to the heavier stuff, i guess it's much more ...'tame' for want of a better word.

if i were doing a compilation on muse songs, i definitely would include others like city of delusion and showbiz on it, but i think those can come after she appreciates these.

hope it helps :)

bonitaaa! :)

great to hear from you, it's been a long time! you must be so busy with those exams.. :( I'm sure it goes well for you! best of luck! *hugs*

and thanks for your suggestions! yes she's quite into 'heavier' rock music, so it might be good to skip for example supermassive.. I'd want to put it in but I guess it might appear a bit... well, strange at first (if a person's not so familiar with all the strangeness that is Muse lol)

I made a song list but I'll have to listen it through to see how it works.. for example I don't think Stockholm Syndrome works that well if it's right after Hysteria.. so this takes some organising.. but I'm loving every second of it :D

I think you should add Futurism to your list of B-sides there... I'm basically addicted to that song and it's awesome bass riff. :cheesy:

Just arrived from their gig.

Love love this band.

Great show. And they played CE. It was perfect

wow you're so luckyyyy

My pictures with the band is on microcuts.net if you wanna see. Well, I only posted one with Matt, b/c the other ones I look funny in. It's under "aftershows" and "Matthew and I". :)

^ aww, what a great pic :nice: you're so lucky!

I think you should add Futurism to your list of B-sides there... I'm basically addicted to that song and it's awesome bass riff. :cheesy:

Futurism actually is on my list ;)

the list so far:

1. Sunburn

2. Muscle Museum

3. Uno / Showbiz

4. New Born

5. Bliss

6. Dead Star

7. Hyper Chondriac Music

8. Citizen Erased

9. Plug In Baby

10. In Your World

11. Futurism

12. Eternally Missed

13. Nature 1

14. Stockholm Syndrome

15. Sing For Absolution

16. Hysteria

17. Fury

18. Butterflies & Hurricanes

19. The Groove

20. Assassin

21. Glorious

22. Knights of Cydonia

I'm still not quite happy with the list, there are so many songs I'd like to put on the cd and don't know about the order of the songs either.. and I just couldn't leave Sunburn, SFA or Glorious out.. I still have couple of days to re-arrange the list..

They found it watching Pink Floyd's movie' date=' [i']The Wall[/i]. More information here.

Linnea, how could you live without having ever listened to Con-Science ? This song is wonderful !

It was a joke ...-

hey could someone please upload Easily & Crying Shame?

i'm gutted i forgot to bring the Supermassive single here and on my laptop i don't have either of these songs, only at home, so if someone could as soon as possible, preferably tonight ... i would be eternally grateful!!

many thanks!! :D

hehe no problem ;)

they're good songs, I especially love Easily

it's been a while since the last time I listened to Crying Shame (shame on me..:D ok that wasn't very funny :\ just couldn't resist)

:freak:

haha that's weird

It sounds like a sped up Matt to me...I don't hear Gwen at all.

It would have been better if they played something of Gwen's to show the similarity, cause I don't see any.

I must be missing something here, all I hear first is Matt's voice and then Gwen Stefani's.. and to me they're complitely different

There're many Muse songs where Matt sings much higher than in Invincible, maybe some of those had been better in this clip and their voices would be more similar.. or is that the idea behind this? sorry, it's Monday morning, haven't really woken up yet :snore:
