  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Heh... David Foster was just on a tv show called the hour... (look him up if you don't know who he is... you'd be surprised)

As a random fact, they mentioned he was a big fan of Muse.

Cool if you know his reputation, really, really random if you know the sort of music he writes. :stunned:

Strombo.... Strom.... Stroumboulopoulos :P Yeah, I had to look it up.

Cool guy, though. Really really really likes music.

mm a question... which bands have been muse compared with?

I've already read which are their influences but... who are them compared with?

My dad listened them some days ago, and he said that they sound like emerson, lake and palmer.... have you heard them?

Now i'm listening butterfles and hurricaines and it remember me to some bands that my dad likes...

^ I hear they've been compared to Radiohead...

thanks for answering... well i think that people will compare them with contemporary bands but... i don't know which band does "butterflies and hurricaines" remember me...btw i love the piano parts. ;)

Compared to radiohead?! hmm no

Theyre really good, but theyre both really different i think.

Yeah alot of people do compare them to radiohead, but I don't think that they listen to Radiohead or Muse enough to make that decision.

haha, I don't think we're really arguing. Just saying we think they don't sound like radiohead.

oh, well we all know that... i really wanted to know if they are not compared to the usual bands you know: radiohead, u2, oasis... i meant if they are compared with some olds bands.... may be i better should have asked which style you think they play...

lol so i think that they are rock progressive... like pink floyd?...

why people don't compare this bands with classical ones?

oh they are not as depressing as chopin, they are passionate not depressive... extreme feelings i think... well that's my point... i'm a newbie...

i like a lot the piano parts on their songs.

that's what make me think, does matt (songwrirter) had studied something? i mean about coldplay we know it but what about muse?

THEY ARE ONE OF A KIND.

I don't know what you want us to say.

Go listen to them yourself and compare, because I really cant think of anything that sounds like them.

I actually think of Pink Floyd when I listen to them for some reason. Maybe because I got a Pink Floyd cd and a Muse cd at the same time haha.

And I think Matt is trained to play 'classical piano'. I think I read that somewhere.

I totally agree with you. But i don't know why i also relate them to ELP.

Matt plays very good piano, good memory, i read that he plays some classical parts on his shows.

I'm bored of the old things, of compare contemporary bands among them.. that's why i asked if they are compared to an old bands, seems that people is forgetting the old good music. :(

I think a big part of it is we just don't have that much exposure to the good old music. I mean with myspace and MTV, all that stuff the focus is on the new bands putting out new music.

But these bands are obviously influenced by music from the past generation.

that's bad that people forget old bands, bands that i find so important for music. :( well is just my opinion.

Matt plays very good piano, good memory, i read that he plays some classical parts on his shows.

He also includes classical parts into his songs, like, for example, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto n°2 : he included parts of the first movement in Megalomania, Space Dementia and Ruled by Secrecy, and parts of the third movement in Butterflies & Hurricanes. Later, you can hear a part of Tchaïkovsky's Piano Concerto n°1 in the middle of Hoodoo.

that's why i asked if they are compared to an old bands' date=' seems that people is forgetting the old good music. :([/quote']

Well, if you compare a band to an older one, then you should speak of influence rather than comparison I guess.

About old music, nothing prevents you from switching off MTV and buying Pink Floyd albums, which are very much better, IMO.

30 fucking days until the concert!
