The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You

Featured Replies

I just bought Origin of Symmetry today! And it's still my favorite album :nice: Listening to it right now.

Only album I don't own now is BHAR... but I do have a birthday in the not too distant future...

  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Alot of the Muse.mu people say BHAR doesn't compare to the others, They say shit about it being a sellout album and blah blah blah.

I don't think it is.

I just think its more melodic than grunge-esque.

I think its really great, it shows they can use production, and not over due it.

Alot of bands can't pull that off.

*coughs.Coldplay

It took me a long time to warm up to BHAR. It's not as consistant as the two before it imho. It also doesn't have as much of a keyboard heavy Rachmaninoff influence as the others which is actually part of what got me into them.

That said, it has waaaay too many favorite songs on it for me not to like it. They've probably still got their noses out of joint over Supermassive Black Hole.

I think the albums pretty ideal, Although, I like you loved the classical piano influence.

But each album has been different in its own respect, I don't think its an issue of consistency, or commercialism.

Black Holes and Revelations is different then the previously released, as will the next album.

Yeah, I think they've found a really good balance between going for a different theme or feeling or something every album and still being themselves.

And hey, I like it best when Matt goes into grand maestro mode, but give me a starship and some space cowboys and I'm happy!

Enough of this deep discussion! Shallowness ensues. :laugh3:

MATT YOU'RE SO SEXY. :laugh3:

I feel like I have been going mental lately.

Do you think its the never ending Museing?

Yeah I've been going crazy too. :laugh3:

Did I tell you yet that I pulled an all nighter just looking/listening/reading Muse stuff? :laugh3:

Yes.

I don't think theres anything wrong with that!!

haha.

But for real, I have been in like a zombie like state of elated melancholy where all I do is play Muse songs in my head, and talk about them, and try to get the boy I like into them.

Its weird, and I can't explain it.

I felt it was necessary today to take a 2 hour bubble bath, and just listen to Muse.

Needless to say, it was the best thing I have done.:freak:

:laugh3: Yeah, because Space Cowboys are really deep what with all their cheesy otherworldlyness and such....

Mandy, it sounds like you need to find something to balance the Muse with. Sometimes, if I'm listening to something too much I force myself to listen to something very different for awhile- it helps me appreciate the first thing more later. *shrug* But maybe that's just me.

I have Showbiz in my sock drawer right now. I still haven't listened to it...its been there for 2 weeks now.

Oh I do.

I have been listening to alot of Ray LaMontagne lately.

and some Fiona Apple.

It works.

But today has been a Muse day.

Erin, i absolutely adore your sig and avi! so so pretty. :nice:

now to make my post Muse related.

once i was in the drive-thru at mcdonalds or somewhere and i had Black Holes on in the car. and Cydonia came on and i can't help but get into it :D so when it got to the "no one's gonna take me aliiiive" bit i turned around to my sis and sang along complete with power-is-me arm movements and some pretty dramatic facial expressions.

and then i realised that the people in the car behind us were watching me. they sat there laughing at me for ages...

...but it's ok, coz it's Muuuuuuuse

I'm sure if they new, they would have understood!!

haha:laugh4:

Oh man how can you listen to the song and NOT do the power-is-me arm movements. Whenever I listen to it on the bus I just want to rally the dead stone faced souls riding the bus!

Today has definatly been a Muse day for me too. :D

Aw, thank-you  That's Frodo Baggins in the boat- it's from the cover of "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" And the sig is from a poem in it called "The Sea Bell" or "Frodo's Dream" http://www.freewebs.com/memoirsoftheshire/theseabell.htm

Yeah, I'm a geek, so what...

I do that too with Knights of Cydonia all the time, ever since I saw that video... Never in public, though. I'm too shy...

Man, I would have ripped it open and listened long ago. I have it, it's good. Not my favorite, but I has alot of awesome songs on it.

i just read that poem Erin and it's LOVELY!! such pretty words..i love it. also i laughed when i got to the bottom of the page and it said "return to the shire" lol  who knew hobbits would get a mention in a Muse thread.

i wonder if a grew a mo, Chris style, could i call myself a Knightess of Cydonia?

I don't think you would need a moustashe to be a knight. Though getting to Cydonia could be a bit tricky. :laugh3:

As for the poem, yeah it's quite a random place to mention it... but I'm easily distracted. One of the saddest things Tolkien ever wrote, I think. If Frodo was having dreams like that just before he left for the Grey Havens, I can understand why he had to go.

What do you mean by "No Comments" ?

Well i don't get the point of fighting for the music that we like, i mean the chiché is that if you like blur you don't like oasis.. this kind of things... i like a lot of bands, different styles, different decades and i don't see why people have to argue and disagree with it... i found it an offensive comment (what people answered me on the board i said)... they wrote something like coldplay is rubbish... i like both bands the same... that's why i said no comments... well i hope i had explained properly...

Yes you have and I 100% agree with you. You see, I love four bands that most of the people on the forums think can't be loved by the same person :

- Radiohead, whose fans seem to think no music has ever been made before The Bends

- Muse, whose most dumbass fans think make "Rock for clever people"... Let me laugh my ass off about that one.

- Coldplay, which is rubbish for both Muse and Radiohead fans

- Pink Floyd, my favourite, who are known for being "overrated" everywhere nowadays and whose stoopid fans think nothing else is good music.

But I love all of them and I think all of those bands have made pure magic and also pure bullshit in their career. And even if some Muse or Radiohead songs are musically a bit deeper than Pussycat Dolls stuff, I don't have the pretentiousness to see me as a "clever" listener.

Well, i wrote kind of a novel, but I hope I made myself clear.

ariadnasquire, high five !

I don't think I have ever seen more beautiful teeth than Doms.
