  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Aaaaaaaaaand it's all "a load of bollocks", straight from the Beast's own Twitter.

^ Well, at least we now don't have to speculate.

Instead we can all go speculate on 'Every teardrop is a Waterfall' (lame song title is lame :\)

Ooh! Can I openly bash Coldplay lyrics and their new outfits in this thread? They don't seem to like me doing that in the Coldplay forum. Don't know why. My opinion of "Clocks is an amazing song even though its lyrics don't mean squaddly shit, and also, 42 is lyrically braindead" is just as poignant as someone else's take of "Lost is brilliance! Big fish in a little pond? Lyrical genius! Who would ever contrast 'big' to 'little' like our savior, Mr. Martin?"

So yeah, "I'd rather be a comma than a full stop" is some of the stupidest wordplay ever. And I've still only read the first few verses of ETIAW.

You are free to do so here. Although, I have to disagree... I like the line 'I'd rather be a comma than a full stop' admittedly it means nothing in the context of the song. But I still took a shine to it :D

But I do agree with you on the lyrical nonsense for a lot of it... Admittedly, Kings of Leon make even less sense. And Muse have their odd moments of lyrical whut? :stunned: But I think that's why I like them.

True on both accounts.

Speaking of the song, have you seen the album art or whatever? It's horrid!

No one's stopping you.

Man, "Clocks" was so overplayed. It eventually lost the luster that it had for me. I think since then, I haven't really been able to listen to it the same way. It's still a nice song, though.

As far as "42" goes, I always did have partial feelings for the opening line, for some reason.

HAHAHAHAHA. That "Lost" bit made me chuckle. It's not like Chris Martin came up with that on his own. It was a cliché long before he used it.

Is it bad that I haven't really read the lyrics for it or anything yet? :uhoh: I think that line is actually pretty cool-sounding, even though in my head, it doesn't make much practical sense.

i saw that tweet and got more confused, thanks for clearing it up

it's one weird title and we are just getting a single and no album news:angry:

most coldplay lyrics are weird but i think 42 is really lyrically strong coz i lost my dad and believe me at that time u feel dead and unsure of everything

and i hate that we can't bash coldplay here

some criticism is good coz on .mu ppl are bitchy even on muse sections and i like that

The album artwork = well awful. I looked at it and died at the font. Seriously. What is the meaning of that font?! If they're trying for this graffiti/street art idea... Then maybe they need to go out on the streets and see that no one uses a font like that!! :inquisitive:

I prefer the more obscure Coldplay songs if I'm honest, it's the same with all the bands. Once a song gets played a lot around the place I get bored of it and start to like a really odd one of the album.

My favourite Coldplay track is probably Talk/Crests of Waves. Muse it is Map of Your Head and Muscle Museum.

i love high speed but the problem with coldplay is they are really radio friendly, basically which means DJ's will play them nonstop unlike muse or biffy

Criticism is indeed a good thing, but at the same time, I wouldn't be a person to bash a band just to do it, for no good reason. There's a difference between the two. I think the problem is that some of the fanatics misinterpret criticism as an insult when it's not. Bashing implies an intentional malice, and that's something I don't really agree with, but criticism is just an opinion, so I don't see why that would be an issue.

HAHA, too true. That spray paint thing is ridiculous, too.

Heh, there's nothing wrong with that. I sometimes get that feeling when I like a song, and I wonder why it's not a single. Then I think about it, and I end up being glad that it's not, because it would probably be ruined for me otherwise. :D

Oh, God, "Map of Your Head?" No offense, but as I mentioned earlier in this thread, that song just annoys me. It's good that you appreciate it, however; it makes up for the lack of love that's coming from me.

Criticism is something Coldplay fans aren't good at though. Because there is so much hate/malice around the band, it's any slight 'off' remark is seen as an attack. Therefore the immediate defensive stance that some Coldplayers will take is a natural response for being heckled so much. I think it would be nice though if between us we could somehow get each other used to the remarks by actually having in-forum discussions rather than: OMGITSAMAZINGIFYOUBASHWEWILLFLAMEYOU

I used to get so annoyed when people said how 'lame/boring/suicidal' Coldplay were... Then I learnt to live with it. So I now just say: 'that's your opinion, you're entitled... Just like I don't like [name one of their bands here]'

I feel bad. I sort of feel like Coldplay are trying to be 'in' with the street art culture and I'm a bit like... Um, no. You're 10-15 years too old and you're a little on the... posh side for it. :\ It's cringe. That being said-- I do like the new jackets. And that Will has adopted Dom green skinnies.

Hey, you're entitled not to like it. You probably find a favourite in one that I don't like or something like that. If everyone liked the same songs, it would make life a little dull or something. We need a bit of variety/spice, and some friendly bickering/discussion about it. I just like Map of Your Head... I find it so different to their normal style that it caught me off guard and I guess that's why it sticks out to me... Also I find it unbelievably quirky (and I sort of related to the lyrics)

Very true. By the end of next week I have no doubt I will be sick to death of Radio 1 playing Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. However, it means my Dad will hear it, which is a bit of a bonus considering I'm not around to educate my Dad's music taste anymore. :laugh3:

I think because Coldplay gets a lot of haters, fans have become extremely defensive to even the slightest criticism, even if it's something dumb like Chris's haircut.

Amsterdam is still one of my favorite songs ever by anybody. I don't see Coldplay ever writing a better song than that.

Dearish me. The new quiff is fucking terrifying.

Here's me having nightmares forever.

amazingly enough i never got tired of clocks but god i hate viva the song

yep i like the green skinnies on will too

first of all i never liked Amsterdam or what if (i prefer smashing pumpkins apples+oranges with same amount of what ifs in it:lol: )

but its true the coldplay hate is everywhere but muse has always been known as the band made of psychos and for psychos

at least in early years :laugh3:

Heh. I'm not a psycho...

I class myself as unconstrained by the social norms.

It's completely different

:laugh3:

but its true even Zane Lowe calls us musers obsessed:p

Musers are a bunch of fucking weirdos.

In a good way.

But yeah, I haven't really been keeping up with the new Coldplay news and stuff, but I just saw the lyrics and artwork and I agree, both are awful. :|

Saw that a few days ago. Surprisingly decent. Yes, Uprising and SMBH are super boring picks, but any list that includes songs from Showbiz obviously has good intentions.

Yeah, I was super happy they picked some earlier songs. :awesome:

Although I'll have to disagree that Uprising was a lazy choice. . . It's an obvious one, and an overplayed one, but I still feel that's one of the best "rock" songs from the album. (by rock I mean more basic rock style, if you get what I'm trying to say?)

But yeah they could have easily replaced Uprising with Megalomania or Citizen Erased. Speaking of which, notice how none of the songs there were slower songs?

Good to see Muscle Museum and Cave there :awesome:

But no Citizen Erased or B&H? or is this just singles?

Also, Bliss is Matt's favourite song? play it live more often then!

Maybe it is just me... But I tend not to like Muse's slower songs as much as I like their heavier songs.
