The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You

Featured Replies

If I were to list my top Muse songs, chances are I'd have more heavy stuff than slow stuff, but Blackout, RBS, and SFA all still make my Top 10 (all, coincidentally, are off Absolution).

  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

i love falling away with you from that album

I think Absolution is by far their best album.

I love Endlessly too.

I think that song doesn't ever get enough credit. :wacky:

Criticism is something Coldplay fans aren't good at though. Because there is so much hate/malice around the band, it's any slight 'off' remark is seen as an attack. Therefore the immediate defensive stance that some Coldplayers will take is a natural response for being heckled so much. I think it would be nice though if between us we could somehow get each other used to the remarks by actually having in-forum discussions rather than: OMGITSAMAZINGIFYOUBASHWEWILLFLAMEYOU

I used to get so annoyed when people said how 'lame/boring/suicidal' Coldplay were... Then I learnt to live with it. So I now just say: 'that's your opinion, you're entitled... Just like I don't like [name one of their bands here]'

I feel bad. I sort of feel like Coldplay are trying to be 'in' with the street art culture and I'm a bit like... Um, no. You're 10-15 years too old and you're a little on the... posh side for it. :\ It's cringe. That being said-- I do like the new jackets. And that Will has adopted Dom green skinnies.

Hey, you're entitled not to like it. You probably find a favourite in one that I don't like or something like that. If everyone liked the same songs, it would make life a little dull or something. We need a bit of variety/spice, and some friendly bickering/discussion about it. I just like Map of Your Head... I find it so different to their normal style that it caught me off guard and I guess that's why it sticks out to me... Also I find it unbelievably quirky (and I sort of related to the lyrics)

I think I can understand that, to an extent. While I think it's better to just ignore people like that, I can relate to how they might react after extended exposure to such things. I actually unwillingly exploded on someone else in The Lounge after this person made a certain comment about Muse because this same person had done it so much and did it in a way that really set me off. (Christina knows exactly what I'm talking about, as she was there for that.)

People say they're suicidal? That doesn't even make sense. They're not depressing enough for that.

Actually, I'm going to state what I said earlier in the Coldplay section. I'm not a fan of the threads. The clothes themselves are OK, but the patches are oversized and look silly. Will is just a hot mess. A puffy brown jacket (with a zipper on the sleeve...WTF) and green skinnies don't mix. I don't even really care much for Dom wearing colored skinnies, but because it's part of Dom and it showcases who he is, I've never really said anything about it until now, and it's not like it's bad. Skinnies are for skinny people, and Will isn't necessarily the skinniest person. That's just me.

That's fine. Grace and I had a discussion on it earlier, so I don't mind. Actually, I've learned through the Arcade Fire polls going on that my taste tends to be different from the norm, anyway, so it's whatever. There are times when I don't mind it as much, but generally, it's just not for me.

I think because Coldplay gets a lot of haters, fans have become extremely defensive to even the slightest criticism, even if it's something dumb like Chris's haircut.

Dearish me. The new quiff is fucking terrifying.

Here's me having nightmares forever.

I actually kinda like it. I think it has something to do with my fondness of Chris having shorter hair as opposed to the curls, which I was never a fan of.

Saw that a few days ago. Surprisingly decent. Yes, Uprising and SMBH are super boring picks, but any list that includes songs from Showbiz obviously has good intentions.

"Uprising" and "SMBH" in the Top 10? You can't be serious. :|

Yeah, I was super happy they picked some earlier songs. :awesome:

Although I'll have to disagree that Uprising was a lazy choice. . . It's an obvious one, and an overplayed one, but I still feel that's one of the best "rock" songs from the album. (by rock I mean more basic rock style, if you get what I'm trying to say?)

But yeah they could have easily replaced Uprising with Megalomania or Citizen Erased. Speaking of which, notice how none of the songs there were slower songs?

From that album, yeah, but not enough so to warrant a Top 10 spot in a poll of their entire discography. That's ludicrous.

Could have? They SHOULD have. Both those songs are so much better, particularly "Megalomania." I just love it.

But no Citizen Erased or B&H? or is this just singles?

I thought "B&H" was a single...?

"Absolution" means so much to me. I can't even...

I thought "B&H" was a single...?

Ah yes, you're right. Somehow I forgot that. Either way, B&H should have definitely been in the top 10.

Too true. Aren't we kinda biased in that regard, though?

Haha, from a totally unbiased point of view, of course. :P

Hmm...a softer new album? I'm not sure what to think of that.

That's old news. :P

And they never said that (at least not that I remember???) but Matt did say that his engagement to Kate, as well as the baby, will probably influence the songwriting.

And then everyone interpreted it to be that they're going to write a lullaby album.

For all we know, Matt will be so annoyed with changing diapers he'll write a full out angry album. :P

Actually, I think it would be absolutely hilarious to see Matt changing a diaper.

I'd pay to see that!

It's irrelevant that I'd pay to shake Matt Bellamy's hand. :dazzled:

I'd pay to...oh wait, I can't say that. Never mind.

Hahahahah Violet, have you realized that most of us here would have no problems saying/thinking that as well? :P

:wacky:

You can say it, there is no such thing as a Muse Thread Censor. :sneaky: :wink3:

You will basically be saying what we all think. :P

Hey, I'm just tryin' to keep it classy. Classy like Chris, who I would...whoops, there I go again.

Classy?

Muse fans... Are... Classy?

To be honest, I was thinking about this last night... I wouldn't be afraid to swear in front of Muse, but I felt so bad when I swore when speaking to The Hoosiers last night (I may have offended their delicate sensibilities). I get the feeling that Muse are, well, less high brow?

Well, I just try not to make a habit of talking about how much I wanna sex it up with the Wolstenbeast.

THERE, I SAID IT. Hope you guys are happy now.

I am like so much happier now you've gotten that off your chest.

It's okay, we're in all in a similar boat.

Myself is aboard the S.S Howard, but yes. It's the same cruel fate.

If I met Matt I would be all "YOU'RE MATT FUCKING BELLAMY OH MAH GAWD THIS SHIT CAN'T BE REAL".

But they sure curse enough. :P

BAHA, I love you guys.

Natt, you've had that avatar for months and it still gets a giggle out of me. :wacky:

I has serious case of cba-to-change-it-alitis.

But I might change it one day.

S'mystery.

Oh, so look what NME have been up to today... Picking up what The Sun wrote, running with it and not bothering to do their research. These people get paid to do this so I think they could at least attempt some effort with it.

So, they posted it rather early this morning, and then got a very... intense... response. A lot of people pointing out that Chris had called it bollocks. Oh, and a lot of insulting statements as to why they believe The Sun of all places. Or why they didn't actually read the Contact Music article.

Then it turned into slander against how NME is going downhill. (Cutted rant ahoy):

I take great joy in joining in with this. Because when NME has always prided itself on being 'alternative' and giving the best, most up-to-date musical news-- it's fun to rip them for not being that at all.

I mean, I loathe NME with a passion. Because they dedicated a whole edition to Lady Gaga of all people... And I mean everything else was overlooked for the bowing down to Gaga. Then they proceed to ask the NME populace what they think of Gaga's album and are surprised when most of us are like: 'don't want to listen', 'rather rip my ears off' ect and when we then turn on NME for bowing down to Gaga and treating her like the best thing to happen to music in like evur.

NME then deleted the article and we all thought hip-hooray they've listened. Turned out they just wanted to get rid of the bad comments and posted it a few hours later.

Anyway, besides the point, this is what I really wanted to show people. This gem of a comment that proves Belldom is in all Musers minds:
