How & When did you start liking Coldplay?

Featured Replies

It was either Xmas of 2003 or 2004. I went to visit a friend and all she did was play AROBTTH when we were in the car.

And I fell in love then!

ok so the first time i heard them i was 7 or 8 ,, with the song Yellow and Clocks,, i started to explore their music and really get into them like 2 or 3 years ago... Im addicted noww lol

I heard Clocks on the radio but i was only about 7 years old so i didnt really "understand" (for the lack of a better word) music. Later i heard

Speed of Sound and then Talk, and i thought "Wow i really like this!" I realized these songs were all from the same band so i put it in the back of my mind.

The release of Viva la Vida ignited a strong passion for music and coldplay. I've been a die hard fan ever since...

I had heard The Scientist and Fix You before but started listening to the rest of their music when I heard Viva la vida on the radio. After that, I fell in love with their music :awesome: Nearly 4 years ago now!

I heard Talk and Fix You around 2005, I think I liked the songs, but I didn't really listen to more from the band. ( ... )

Then in October 2008, when I was at the Faroe Islands to visit my friend, she showed me Viva la vida. Then A few months went by and I bought Coldplay tickets for Herning in 2009. :wacky:

Love these stories :wacky: post more post more!

I had heard Trouble and Clocks when they were hits and I loved them, but I wasn't into music at that time. A few years later Speed of Sound and Talk, which I liked but not too much.

Then, somewhere in 2007, I heard The Scientist in the movie Wicker Park and a few weeks after that Don't Panic in some random gardening TV show. You know, when they show plant names while a pretty song is played. :|

I recognized Coldplay by Chris's voice, which sounded very warm but at the same time so sad... It was intriguing.

Still what I love about them, the mixed emotions they leave you with.

Well, this is going to be a looong story, so if you don't have the time, don't read it

It was the summer 2008 and I heard Viva on the radio. I loved it! I ran to the radio to listen what the name of the song was, and what band played it. Well, back then I had heard of the name Coldplay, but I didn't know any songs by them. I Googled Coldplay, and found out that I loved lots of other songs by them! :awesome: Talk, Fix You, Clocks, The Scientist.. I bought VLVODAAHF, and from that moment on, I was obsessed with Coldplay's music :wacky: I bought all the albums, and I knew this wasn't a fase I was going through, like when you're a little girl and you love these silly songs :P. I really loved Coldplay, still do by the way . They make me feel happy, sometimes sad, relaxed.. That's something I really need to find in music.

That's my story! :)

edit: Oh, it's not that long ;)

edit2: I remember now, before 2008, I saw the Clocks Rhytms del Mundo video on MTV. :awesome: So for a long time, I thought the singer of Coldplay was a fat man  Which is not true haha

Wow, what a great thread. LOVE hearing your stories about how you became a fan.

For me, it was the 2008 Superbowl. A Viva La Vida iTunes commercial came on and that 30 second commercial was all it toke.. now that I look back on it I cannot believe what a revolution it has become and all it toke was a thirty second commercial and I was hooked.

The song seemed very different to me, I had never heard music like "that" before. At that time it would of been considered weird for me to like music like that because of the way I was. I actually needed to change... that's a whole other story but Coldplay played such a big part in making me who I'am today. =)I became a fan very quickly, faster than any other music artist that I'm a fan of. Their music was very "attractive", I dont know what it was, but there was something... SOMETHING about them that made me always wanting more.

I was barely a fan still when the Viva La Vida album came out but I just bought it anyway and it blew me away. It was a smart choice to just take a chance on them and just buy it. They've been nothing but an incredible and overwhelming great influence, more than you know, more than the band could ever know. =) I feel honored to be a fan, I really do.

My mum is a fan and she listened to them very loud all the time...they are really not very near to the kind of music I usually listen to so I just ignored them for a lot of time but I really liked X&Y. One day I watched a fan vid about Daniel Faraday [LOST] and the soundtrack was The Scientist...It was the first time that I actually payed attention to the words and I liked them so much that I searched to some X&Y songs because I wanted to listen to the lyrics...after a couple of them I was like "Fuck. Chris Martin stalks me." and I was totally in love with them.
