I know these lists are subjective, but it's a pretty shitty one nonetheless.

Asap Rocky over Coldplay...wtf were they thinking

Nicki Minaj at #8, Carrie Underwood at #4, lol.

Laughable.

It's an american magazine?

Yeah, an American magazine.

^ That explains Carrie Underwood, I don't remember the last time I heard about her, anyway, ridiculous list

I sickens me that "artists" like nicki minaj and katy perry are in the same list as Coldplay, the foo fighters, and Adele. But I guess it shows these people have some taste.

omg.. how could they forget LMFAO?!

Is EW's definition of "greatest" synonymous with "biggest"? Because if it were BIGGEST, I'd say the list is actually accurate.

But "greatest" implies quality, and that's a big hell no for about 20 of these artists.

Katy Perry $5 and Coldplay #22? Sorry, no. Katy Perry is pure pop drivel, it's catchy and nothing more. Ugh.

Even if it was biggest...In my opinion Taylor Swift, Drake, Carrie Underwood, Jack White, The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Civil Wars, A$ap Rocky, Fiona Apple, Kelly Clarkson, Jake Owen, Fun and Azealia Banks aren't bigger than them, while Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and Beyonce are bigger and are below, still a bad list.

The question is, why is Adele above Florence? :inquisitive:

And Bruce, Gaga and Beyoncé deserved a higher spot.

Haha, I had a feeling some here might quibble with the list .

Yeah. I agree, Coldplay should be MUCH higher (certainly agree they should be higher than Katy Perry, for instance) but eh, well, still cool they're in there as it is! Made me happy to see that when I was at work yesterday.

Also, some of these acts (the Black Keys, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, or Drake) may not be as big in some other countries around the world, but they're certainly very popular here in the States. Since this is a U.S. magazine I think they're mainly focusing on popularity here in our country.

I disagree with most of this list. Especially the top 5. While their popularity can't be argued with, I'm not sure they are deserving of the title "great artist".

Just ignore this, we all know that Coldplay is better than the most of the artists in that list

This might be called "The 30 best seilling artists right now" It's a shame that nowadays music is based on money and not in talent

If it were up to me to make a 30 GREATEST (not biggest) list of all time, I'd definitely include bands like:

The Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, U2, Muse, Black Keys, Enter Shikari, My Chemical Romance, Pulp, Bon Jovi, Kasabian, Coldplay

None of that Pop crap...

EW, at first, tell me who the fuck are Drake, Carrie Underwood, Jack White, The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Civil Wars, A$ap Rocky, Fiona Apple, Jake Owen, Fun, Azealia Banks and what are they doing above Coldplay

Na, Coldplay should have been top, and why werent two door cinema club put on, and Green Day, The Killers, I don't even see Snow Patrol!! Also Jake Morley should be on here (check him out he's amazing!!!) totally agree with Mumford & Sons but what was Nicki Minaj doing on here???

So Gotye release one song that features Kimbra and it gets overplayed in the public, therefore both of them get on the list of the greatest artists known to man at this current point in time. What a load of bollocks.

If it were up to me it would go:

1. Coldplay

2. Jake Morley

3. Newton Faulkner

4. Two Door Cinema Club

5. Mumford & Sons

6. Sam Carter

7. U2

8. Snow Patrol

9. Ben Howard

10. Ed Sheeran

11. Ortopilot

12. The Killers

13. Amy MacDonald

14. Boyce Avenue

15. Green Day

16. Tom McQ

17. Matt Cardle

18. Bruce Springsteen

19. R.E.M

20. Radiohead

21. The Script

22. Band Of Horses

23. Paolo Nutini

24. Owl City

25. OneRepublic

26. James Blunt

27. Kings Of Leon (why have they broken up!! :'( )

28. KT Tunstall

29. James Morrison

30. Florence + The Machine

There! That took a while!

Kings of Leon broke up?

EW, at first, tell me who the fuck are Drake, Carrie Underwood, Jack White, The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Civil Wars, A$ap Rocky, Fiona Apple, Jake Owen, Fun, Azealia Banks and what are they doing above Coldplay

Drake: Hip-hop artist. Was on the TV show "Degrassi".

Carrie Underwood: Country singer. Won "American Idol" a number of years ago.

Jack White: Originally in the band the White Stripes.

The Black Keys: Blues-y, alternative rock duo.

Mumford & Sons: British folksy type act.

The Civil Wars: Also folksy, sorta country-ish.

Fiona Apple: Singer-songwriter, has been around since 1996. Sort of the Adele of the '90s, perhaps, if you will (first album came out at age 19). Has only released 3 albums in that time frame so far, though, but she does have a new one coming out this year.

The rest I either don't know or, in the case of Fun, have only heard one song by and can't really describe them well.

Thank you so much :) well, I'm still thinking that Coldplay is better than all of these "artists"
