I think there's just a lot of people trying to get into medicine.

It's a pretty big industry. And once you're in med school you don't have to become a doctor: There's a lot of stuff you can do.

"med students" is a really broad term. It could mean anything to doing actual medicine to doing medical science degrees. It's a huge field and is pretty common.

I don't know, I think it's just that other people don't really talk much about their jobs, I guess a more accurate thing to say would be "most of the people who talk about their job are med students" ...?

If I worked a boring office job I wouldn't talk about it all the time
