Coldplayer in Distress!

Featured Replies

I know this may be a very stupid reason to start a thread, but I need some advice.

Basically, I'm not at all touched -I guess you could say- by any Coldplay song anymore. A while back, when I would listen to any song (Strawberry Swing, Yellow, Shiver) I would sort of have this overwhelming feeling, like I was on a cloud or something(. It sounds stupid, but it's true.

And the night I downloaded Mylo Xyloto....every song on that album with the exception of PoC, gave me that feeling again. Made me happy I guess.

I've lost all that now. I just don't feel anything when I listen. And it makes me kind of worried because what if I just don't like them anymore? I mean, I've never found a band or an artist that I've loved so much. I'm not depressed or anything, I'm just trying to find a way to get the magic back.

I'm really sorry if this is stupid, and thanks in advance to anyone nice enough to post anything :)

I totally understand what you mean, it does happen to me as well, but what I do is I just stop listening to their songs for a while like a week or two and then when i put them back on the magic is back like you said .... I dont know if you've already been in arelationship but it's kind of the same sometimes you fell out of love there is *short* break and it's back on all over again ...

Watch politik at the Grammys

Ooor u could just do that .... What an AMAZING performance it gives goosbumps everytime i listen to it just woow

My recommendation is to watch on Youtube any version of a song that is not the regular, album version. Watch Glastonbury 2011. Watch Warning Sign from the Yahoo sessions, watch GPASUYF/Talk Live in Japan. Watch the student tour where they played HLH, Paradise and We Found Love. I am always amazed at their raw talent, and how they can turn a song from what it normally sounds like to something new and unexpected. And listen to the B sides again as well.

Just my two cents.

I'd suggest to listen to the radio. Not like Coldplay-type-of-music radio but more mainstream. Then after a while, you get tired of that and, trust me, you will go back to Coldplay wanting them so much. That's what I did. ;)

This is beyond great, a lovely live performance !! Maybe that will help :D

Edit:

And this, watch THIS !! Acoustic performances are also good, that's also a change :)

Don't feel bad! That's just how the brain works! When we listen to something enough times over and over, we tend to get desensitized because it's no longer new or novel. I have several favorite bands, including Coldplay, and I find that I listen to all of my music in waves. For a while, certain things interest me, and then after a few months, I gradually switch over to other things. It doesn't mean I don't love Coldplay just as much, it's just not new and it doesn't have that fresh spark that causes that overwhelming feeling you're describing, that rush of adrenaline and pleasure. Your mind just craves variety.

I laughed, but I have to agree with PP that said to listen to mainstream Top 40 radio for awhile. You'll be craving some Coldplay after that for sure. And listen to live shows, watch videos of shows you've been to (if you've gotten to see them live). Incorporate other music you love into your everyday playlists. Search for new music! You'd be surprised how simply musically stimulating your mind can bring back that fresh feeling for all of your music, including Coldplay. :)

Don't like Coldplay songs anymore? Nup, no hope left for you. Why are you even on this forum anyway if you don't like their songs?! Time to leave the forum entirely! No point being online if you don't feel the lurve anymore

in all serious this is kinda normal for music stuffs, so maybe just give it a break and come back to it another day. It's possible to listen to a song so much you begin to not like it as much (eg. I made myself hate Viva La Vida because I listened to it so very much).

World of Music should help you for music in the meanwhile or you could attempt to make an entry into the inner sanctum of the forum that is the Lounge... if you are accepted into our circle...

Hey, no need to beat yourself up. We all move on from things we once loved. Expose yourself to other stuff - music, books, art, films- and wait for something else to catch your heart. Even if you move on completely, Coldplay will always remain a little special, even if it's just an "I remember when..." kind of thing.
