Coldplay attend 'Spike Island' movie premiere

Band invested in the new Britflick – but wonder where the robots are

 

 

Spike Island, a new British comedy-drama set against a backdrop of The Stone Roses' notorious outdoor gig at Spike Island in Widnes, Cheshire in 1990, premiered at the BFI London Film Festival last night (October 12).

 

Among those in attendance for the screening were the members of Coldplay. The band partly funded the film, whose director Mat Whitecross shot numerous Coldplay videos, including 'Paradise'.

 

After the event, Chris Martin told NME he had not previously seen the film, despite investing money in it.

 

We had great faith that he'd pull it off," he said. Asked how much the band contributed to its production, he quipped: "12 million pounds. I didn't see evidence of that anywhere. They said it was going to have robots. We've been shafted again.

 

Also in attendance were Happy Mondays singer Rowetta, the film's writer and actor Chris Coghill and the principal cast.

 

Spike Island stars Shameless actor Elliott Tittensor and Games Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and revolves around an unsigned band from a council estate in Manchester. It is due for release in April 2013.

I'm really excited to see this. Hopefully it gets a U.S release. That could turn some more Americans onto the band hopefully.:)

I don't think he wore his MX clothes, as they wear it only for Coldplay related stuff. At least they're supposed to wear it only for Coldplay related stuf...but we can't trust The Martin on his fashion choices...
