Sincere love/like-a-lot songs

Featured Replies

I'm making a playlist of love songs, which shouldn't be too hard, but the catch is that I want them to be almost achingly sincere. None of this Taylor Swift Coldplay Rihanna Maroon 5 whatever BS.

Are there any original suggestions out there? And I thought it would be a good topic for what may pass as sincerity these days.

Muchos Gracias.

:uhoh:

Preferably happy because I'm a happy person but anything is welcome because this is about everyone, even pessimists.

Like it's just so easy for a song about love to get cheesy and weird, I want no cheese. I'm having difficulty.

Conor Oberst and Gillian Welch - Lua

The National - Lucky You

Unless your looking for happy songs

Bon Iver - Skinny Love

...unless you're looking for happy songs :p

Kashmir - Melpomene

moi Caprice - For Once In Your Life (Try to fight for something you believe in)

Mew - Wherever

The Rumour Said Fire - Red Light

Air - All I Need

moi Caprice - My Girl You Blush

a-ha - Hunting High and Low

Depeche Mode - Precious

Something like that?

Okay here are some others...

Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice

Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling in Love

Radiohead - All I Need; True Love Waits (another DUH)

Al Green - Tired of Being Alone; Let's Stay Together

Erykah Badu - Next Lifetime

George Michael - One More Try

Sade - Your Love is King; The Sweetest Taboo; Paradise; No Ordinary Love; Cherish the Day

Thom Yorke - Skip Divided

And the majority of Sam Cooke songs.

Jeff Buckley - "Lilac Wine"

What's with all these nasty cats?

I have a whole playlist of love songs and heartbreak songs (y'know just in case </3...)

or do you want like super cute songs or like oddly sweet heartwarming songs by kanye singing about how much he loves him mummy because that is just too beautiful </3

Coldplay have some great, sincere love songs that don't sound at all like Maroon 5 or Rihanna or Taylot Swift.

I mean, what about Green Eyes, or Til Kingdom Come for instance ? They sound sincere imo.

Coldplay are great for love songs like See You Soon also and For You

I just had a pretty good idea but the singer sings in French so I guess he doesn't qualify :disappointed:

In case you're interested anyway: Et dans 150 ans, by Raphael. It's a song about life as much as it is about love.

damn my playlist has 97 songs of which most may be considered 'cheesy'

anyway some suggestions;

Frightened Rabbit - Poke , Yes I would, Floating In The Forth(it's about deciding not to commit suicide<3)

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide, Man Of The World (kinda about suicide/depression)

Stornoway - The End Of The Movie

King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Running On Fumes, Bubble

Laura Marling- Don't Ask Me Why, Tap at my Window

Jonsi - Tornado

Alex Turner - Piledriver Waltz (ok kinda cheesy)

Switchfoot - Always

David Bowie - We Are The Dead (kinda sad)

Beach House - Turtle Island, Astronaut

The most sincere songs tend to be about death/suicide </3

^ didn't mean to thank that post :wtf:

Anyway, does U2 count as sincere? With Or Without You comes to mind.

Excuse you. Maroon 5 is not BS. :snobby: At least, not in the time before "Overexposed," as that album is pretty much BS. To be fair, though, I think a lot of their music is about heartbreak, anyway, so they probably wouldn't qualify for this thread too much in the first place.

You two... I like those songs, though.

Love this list. I have a particular soft spot for that Elvis song. :dazzled:

Jeff Buckley - "Lilac Wine"

One of my favorite Jeff Buckely songs. :dazzled: Nice choice. :D

Agreed.

I don't see why it wouldn't, as it's sincere to you.

Anyway, I think this is a hard question to answer, seeing as love songs have a natural tendency to come off as cheesy to some people. There's also the issue of different people finding different things cheesy. I actually have a pretty high tolerance for cheese, and I love listening to mushy songs. I'm one in the minority of Musers I know who actually enjoy/love "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)." It's all a matter of taste, really.

This is probably cheesy to you and others, but it touches my heart in a very special way. I feel like Elbow make some of the most honest and sincere music out there.

Real Love-The Beatles

You are Here-John Lennon

This Must Be the Place-Talking Heads

U2 - All I Want I Want Is You

House of Cards-Radiohead
How on earth did I forget that; the song that got me started on them in the first place. Crap.
