^^ What does that mean, 'decision math'? :surprised:

Math in general is useful to know. I mean some parts of it might not be as used in 'the real world', and you don't have to love it, but just keep trying, you shouldn't not educate yourself on something because it's not fun to do.

Jfc the amount of people in my classes who don't even try to look at the board in math class, play with their phone, and say "WHEN WILL ANY OF THIS BE USEFUL WHEN I GET OLDER ?!?!?!!?" It's like, fine then, just stop taking math. English too, you've learned a great amount of English already by the age of twelve or so. Don't even go to history, because your job won't involve knowing the history of the human race, nor will it involve knowing what happens when you mix an acid and a base together. "What's the point" of educating yourself and being a well-rounded person, y'know.

Ooooh I do Decision Maths! Basically it's to do with algorithms. All we've done so far is how to find the shortest route between two points on a network and stuff like that. We're doing something called the Travelling Salesman Problem at the moment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travelling_salesman_problem

And yeah, I hate proofs :( Last year the one question I couldn't do in my exam was a proof question

Love it that the option "NO" in the poll is in capitals

I absolutely hate maths. I'm rubbish at it as well, which only makes me hate it even more.

I'm a math major and a math tutor.

This thread makes me

Tiebreaker~

I hate math. I hate it so much that I can live alone with just math as my companion for several years.

That really makes no sense, you know... I'll keep my maths, thank you very much. :snobby:

I can appreciate math, I'm just not particularly talented at it. When teachers would tell me how a certain theory would work, I would get a better understanding of it, but often they wouldn't so I'd try and follow the theory thing and then wonder why I got it wrong. Eg. multiplying and dividing decimal points, I had no idea what do because like many others I wasn't taught properly
