Global Citizen Festival TICKET Thread - Invite a Coldplayer ! - 26 Sep 2015

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I thought I'd create a separate thread for a special purpose.

You all know that the general admission tickets can only be won. There are several draws, but still: If you win you're lucky. If you don't, there's no way to get in (unless you're super-rich and can afford a VIP ticket) since illegally sold tickets will be found out and annulated according to Global Citizen so as to prohibit this.

As you also know, if you DO win, you always win a pair of 2 tickets.

Now my idea was the following: Since probably not everyone has a spouse/friend to take, those who don't, what about inviting a fellow Coldplayer to join ?

I have not yet won a ticket, but if I do, I will invite a fellow Coldplayer from the forum to join me with my 2nd ticket in New York on Sep 26, 2015. Conversely, if anyone else has won a "ticket too much", I'd be very, very grateful if someone would invite me to join.

Moved it now :)

That's kind of you. It's really the best way I think, since its much more fun having someone who's really into Coldplay, if you don't know anyone who is :D

Very generous, always a great idea if anyone can invite a coldplayer to a show if they have an extra ticket to a show.

I hope it does work wonders in the sense that someone would help me out too if I don't win any tickets  Am a bit worried I won't win any, because I never win anything anywhere.

Not only is this is a thoughtful idea but also a wise one.

This way you know for sure that the person you go with would enjoy the show as much as you. Nothing like rocking your pants off with a like minded fan. Nothing like gaining a new Coldplaymate!

I'm in the same boat as "I ran away" and probably many others. I'd love a ticket if anybody can spare one and would be happy to reciprocate if I happen to win. I don't really know anybody locally that understands and loves this band as well as we all do on here. So putting it to good use would make sense.:P

Cool. I just read your post on the other Global Citizen thread. I'll put you first place in the imaginative list then for my imaginative spare ticket, if I ever should win. :) And also queue up for your imaginative spare ticket if you win ;)

Let's keep our fingers crossed for the 2nd drawing in 4 days then !

Awesome thanks! And right back at ya, if I win consider yourself a winner too because you're going! What a damn good idea this is! Great work! It's like doubling our chances instantly! And thanks for the warning about the scalped tix because I was thinking of trying to get one if I could come up with the cash...would kill myself if I bought one got rejected at the gate

The 2nd drawing is currently under way...great that we kinda double our chances this way !!

But still we need to win anything, so good luck and let's keep our fingers crossed ! :)

Wow I didn't realize it was going on right now! So when do you think we would hear something if we won? Keeping fingers crossed here as well and yes it's great to go into it with double the chances!

I just checked back at the website and now it says that the drawing starts only on Aug 13 instead of Aug 12. Wonder why they prolonged the action journey, maybe they had some technical issues. Now we have to wait a day longer till the results...usually they send the emails the day after, so Aug 14 or Aug 15 I'd say.

Are you also completing these additional bonus actions, by the way ? The next one will appear on Aug 19. I tried to do them but for nearly all of them the terms and conditions request you to be a US citizen, which annoys me because I'm not !! It says that some may include meets and greets with artists....imagine a meet and greet with Coldplay !! :)

Damn really? Okay I guess another day won't hurt. I didn't really look into the bonus stuff. Going to do that shortly. Good idea. Meeting the band would be so surreal.

I won today! I think my son will be going with me. Hang in there!

I might mention I am a member of Global Citizen and have been sharing all of their FB posts. Maybe that helps?

The NYC marathon is also that weekend. Hotels in Manhattan are $300 a night and up! If I decide not to go, I will let you all know.

^I've never done this myself, but dont ppl usually stay in NJ or even Philly and just go over to NY to reduce the cost of staying in NY?

Depends on a few things. North Jersey is many times almost as expensive as NYC. Now Philly (where I am) is about and hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours down the road (depending on traffic) but RED ALERT, AVOID PHILADELPHIA AT ALL COSTS that weekend…the Pope is coming to town and everybody and their mother is trying to get into the city and security will be a complete mess and will hamper travel all over the place…you may actually see the opposite situation..that is, people staying in NY and traveling down to Philly that Saturday. Hotels will likely be taken as well, or they will charge an arm and a leg…maybe staying north or west of NYC and taking the train in??? Not sure about Connecticut or west of the city, not familiar enough with those parts. Sounds like it's going to be tough commuting around that day.

You're from philly, but you appear to be a Pens fan....You get beat up a lot don't you?

Take care of Phil for us :(

Haha! :laugh3: I guess my Twitter name is a bit too obvious. Yeah, love the Pens. I've grown up with hockey, saw Gretzky in his prime and still think he's got nothing on Crosby. Malkin is awesome. Yeah I literally don't know anybody in town that admits to liking the Pens. I do indeed take many verbal beatings. But when our home team hasn't won in 40 years it's hard for fans to really do much, except talk. Kessel seems like he still has some good years left. You're in Toronto?
