  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Argh! I really want to meet them now... but both times I've seen them were on school nights so I had to go home and get rest, especially since I saw them in tech week (when everyone buckles down for extra work). I have made it my mission to meet them... I just have to find people who won't drag me away from the stage doors when I do.

But I'm glad you had a good time! : DDDDDDD

haha thanks guys! It was seriously the highlight of my month!!!!

Aww TLo he wasnt drunk but someone took his drink and he was not to happy about that! haha I bet he is pretty funny drunk!

Lifelike i am sure you will get to meet them!!!

Lifelike i am sure you will get to meet them!!!

I'm pretty sure I'll get my chance too... it just needs to be on a weekend/while I'm on break...

News about my letter... my friend's dad gave me photographic proof that SOMEONE read it. I'm psyched. I wonder what they're going to do with the drawing I did... ;D

Ally! I'm so sorry I didn't get to say goodbye, really I feel like a total bitch. I had to get going though, had to drop someone off at home. :( And the mass of people waiting was crazy! I'm really sorry though! Can you ever forgive me? But it was great to see you! Your mom was really sweet and I love reading about what you said to Nathan. I'm glad you didn't blurt out anything! I'm so there in Ohio when they finally come back.

Ally touched on all the good stuff in the show. But afterwards, it was too funny, we could see into the tourbus and I *think* Tom was on it. He was watching The Waterboy then channel surfing, then porn. HAHA. It was so funny. But I wish he had come out to talk. I have pics with Pablo and Nathan, and everyone except Tom signed my little sign that said " I'd sell my kidney to hear Wow, please!" Gary apologized because they took it out of the setlist. So kind!

I'm sure I'll think of more later and post the pics too.

And Ally, it's SilverSUN pickups! I loved them! Ok go had some funny vids being played on the back screen. And overall SP were amazing. I enjoyed it so much!

Sig, some photographic evidence? Awesome!

Oh Marisa I guess I can forgive you! I know what you mean by all the people it was kinda nuts back there! Oh I know I was so happy that I didnt say anything stupid in front of him!!! haha Omg i totally forgot about the porn! That was so freakin funny!

haha i knew the name sounded odd thanks for that marisa! How did your pics turn out?!?! Oh yeah and you better be comin to Ohio on the someday that they finally come!!!!

Snow Patrol caught in Spidey's web

SNOW PATROL

With: OK Go, Silversun Pickups

When: Tonight at 7

Where: Shaw Conference Centre

Tickets: Sold out

When fans of Snow Patrol close their eyes and sing along to their infectiously poppy, melodic, love ballad Chasing Cars ("If I lay here/ If I just lay here/ Would you lie with me and just forget the world?"), they can be forgiven for getting the wrong impression.

They probably imagine the band as a sensitive bunch of blokes who spend their days romancing and strewn on the ground, holding hands with star-crossed lovers. In reality, their lives involve strolling the Hollywood strip and seeing cartoon characters brawling, teenagers spoofing them on YouTube.com and trouble understanding themselves as a pop-culture phenomena.

"The long and the short of it is, I saw a guy dressed like Jack Black in Anchorman attacking Batman from behind with a bottle, after which Spider-Man leapt to his aid and wrestled fake Jack Black to the ground and threw a solid beating on him," singer Gary Lightbody recently wrote on his blog.

"On one particular block of Hollywood Boulevard, in the vicinity of Kodak Theatre (where they have the Oscars), the streets are lined with people dressed like movie heroes (Batman and Spidey are just a few). ... It seems, however, left to their own devices, these raucous replicas will inevitably run amok. ... So, today I saw fake Spidey and fake Batman team up at last on the streets of L.A. against that most villainous of all evil geniuses: DEN DEN DEN!!! ... Fake Jack Black."

Welcome to the bizarre world Scottish sensation Snow Patrol call home, where anything can happen and most everything is bizarre.

The band first broke into the mainstream conscious with 2003's Final Straw, but it was last year's Eyes Open and its Coldplay-esque, affectionate power-ballad Chasing Cars that really took the band from boutique favourite to international stars -- thus making them new residents of the crazy life.

"You see strange and wonderful things everywhere and every day," laughs guitarist Nathan Connolly, adding the experience of being a certified rock star is different than he dreamed it would be as a kid.

"I guess when you're a kid, you have a very different idea of what it will entail. You don't think about stuff like travelling and being on a plane for 12 hours. All you're thinking about when you're 14 is getting drunk and girls. ... But pretty much every day, there's something that happens or we see something that's just bizarre. We laugh a lot. When there's a group of men travelling around on buses, hilarity will ensue."

Fittingly, the band's big breakout came in a similarly strange manner: A synchronization of Chasing Cars in an episode of Grey's Anatomy catapulted them into the public consciousness. But Connolly explains the band had no idea any of that was happening.

"We didn't even know our song was on Grey's Anatomy until shortly before it came out," he reveals. "Obviously, the show hadn't kicked off in the U.K., so we didn't realize how big a deal it was here or even what it was."

Now, the song has become a mega-hit, one of the most downloaded songs of 2006 and created its own niche in pop-culture. Connolly says he still hasn't quite wrapped his head around being the creator behind a track that has taken on such a large life of its own, including inspiring many people to post videos of themselves doing karaoke of its overwrought lyrics on YouTube.com.

"I don't spend a lot of time on YouTube, but I have friends e-mail me things through. I have seen a couple, which is quite sweet. Some of them are very funny. That's the kind of world we're in at the moment: the Internet generation," he says. "It's kind of bizarre. ... It has taken on a life of its own. It's now part of pop-culture. It's a hard thing to understand though because we don't really think that way. It's one of those songs that's seeped its way into people's consciousness. It's crazy, exciting, flattering and definitely bizarre."

But despite the track's overwhelming popularity (and constant airplay), Connolly says he hasn't yet gotten sick of it and is always egged on by people's reaction to its heartwarming rhythm.

"For us, we're on tour most of the year, so every night there's some reaction: people singing along, people smiling, the odd couple kissing," he explains. "Generally, every night, the show is slightly different and each gig has its own charm, so that's what keeps it interesting and keeps it from getting mundane or boring for us."

Connolly reveals some of Snow Patrol's best crowds have come out of the most unlikely places -- like Canada's own Winnipeg.

"We have come across strange places where we weren't sure what to expect and we've had great gigs," he notes. "We played Winnipeg and we had a great night there. Just little places that we don't know what to expect and we kind of get the idea in our head that they're in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes, those places actually have a little bit more life and soul than others."

Along with the Canadian tour, the band is also working on an unlikely collaboration with -- wait for it -- Spider-Man. That's right, these charming Scotsmen known for their gentle pop-rock have recorded the song Signal Fire for the forthcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. It might seem like an odd pairing to some, but Connolly explains the band has been a fan of the webbed ones since they were kids.

"We were just fans of the movies. There's no other reason. There's no sinister plot to sell more albums," he says. "We're really, really happy with the track. ... We just really wanted to do it for the love of cartoons. We grew up watching Spider-Man and Batman."

i'm pretty new to Snow Patrol.

i've only known "Chasing Cars", which made me curious.

so i got "Eyes Open".

haven't really been listening to it. (actually sounds kinda boring to be honest...)

but when it was playing while i was working on the computer "Set The Fire To The Third Bar" came on.

it's my favourite ever since... :nice:

but besides that i need some tipps.

what songs may i check out?

hmmm, i'm not a great fan of them either, but i like them a lot. i only have listened to Songs For Polar Bears (though I have other albums too) and i think it's a good one. I dunno... "Mahogany" is sweet, "Velocity Girl" too and "Fifteen Minutes Old". I would suggest you to listen to these songs, but others would know better which songs are great.

I didn't like Eyes Open at first either, but now I love it... it grew on me.

Try some songs from Final Straw. My favorites are Somewhere a Clock is Ticking (every time I hear it have to drop what I'm doing), Spitting Games and How to Be Dead (lol all the singles I know but they're so catchy)

If you want earlier stuff, listen to When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up. That is a goldmine of beautiful songs. Try Last Lone Gunman, An Olive Grove Facing the Sea and if you like songs with a lot of repetition, Firelight.

Hope that helps. ;D

Pretty close to my favourite song ever. Quite high on the list anyway.

Here is a list! Check em out and let us know!

Grazed Knees

Chocolate

Spitting Games

Some where a clock is ticking

Ways & Means

Ask Me How I Am

Starfighter Piolt

Signal Fire

There is a good mix of old and really new in that list, so hopefully you find something that sparks your intrest! Enjoy!

I just heard Signal Fire for the first time the other day. I really like it.

The video is very heart warming. And wow, more dates onsale tomorrow for the US. Did you get the email, Ally? They are coming back to Michigan!
