Showgirl Kylie's thrilling homecoming

Last updated at 12:10pm on 11th November 2006

These are the first pictures of Kylie Minogue on stage performing for Australian fans as part of her Showgirl Homecoming Tour.

Kylie Minogue dazzled an adoring crowd when she took to the stage for the first time since being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 38-year-old star reopened her Showgirl tour in Australia with the words "Good evening Sydney!" as she emerged from a rising platform in the centre of the stage.

The long-awaited comeback concert was the first time Minogue had performed on stage since being forced to postpone the tour in May last year.

Wearing a pink-feathered head-dress and flowing gown by designer John Galliano she kicked off her renamed "Showgirl Homecoming Tour" with her classic hit Better The Devil You Know.

It was followed by dance floor favourites In Your Eyes and Spinning Around as well as her new song White Diamond, which she wrote with American disco group The Scissor Sisters.

The diminutive star's energetic performance also included renditions of On A Night Like This, Shocked and Confide In Me.

Speaking ahead of the show, Minogue said resuming the tour was a major achievement for her.

"Just to be here and have the opportunity to do it, I feel quite proud of that," she said. "I'm thrilled to be back. I've been looking forward to this for such a long time."

Despite admitting that she found quick changes really stressful, Minogue donned a series of costumes by designers Gareth Pugh, Dolce Gabbana, Karl Lagerfield and Emilio Pucci.

Her performance was the first of 20 concerts in her native Australia before a series of dates in the UK in January.

Tickets for her dates at Wembley Arena sold out in just six minutes.

Go Kylie!!

Yup - it's great to see her back!!;)

She always comes across as a really nice person, unlike Madonna.

I'm glad she looks so healthy and happy. Hope she'll be fine.

Bono joins Kylie on stage for duet

U2 frontman Bono showed his support for Kylie Minogue by singing a duet with the Australian pop singer in Sydney.

The duo sang Minogue's hit, Kids, which the singer originally recorded with Brit Robbie Williams, before 10,000 people at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are in the company of greatness tonight," Minogue said. "Let me hear it for Bono."

Minogue was wearing a leopard-print cat suit while Bono rocked it up in a black suit and sunglasses.

"It's such an honour for you to sing with me," Minogue said.

Bono then jumped in and said, "You're perfect".

The pair danced around the stage and Bono got down on his knees, kissed Minogue's hand and thanked her at the end of the duet.

Minogue kicked off her Showgirl Homecoming Tour in Sydney on Saturday. It was the first time she had performed in front of a crowd since being diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year.

The London-based 2004 Grammy winner was forced to take a break of more than a year while she underwent treatment.

She was diagnosed with cancer just days before she was due to start the final leg of her Showgirl World Tour in Australia. The tour was postponed indefinitely with fans told to hold on to their tickets.

Following Sydney, Minogue and her Showgirl troupe will travel to Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, before heading back to Europe, playing dates in the UK from January 2

Yes, I got a little curious as to what I might get but I don't really blog.........

This is what I got

Your Blogging Type Is the Private Performer

Your blog is your stage - with your visitors your adoring fans.

At least, that's how you write with your witty one liners.

And while you like attention, you value your privacy.

You're likely to have an anonymous blog - or turn off comments.

And the next, you're passionately writing about your pet causes.

Your blog is very important - and you're careful about who you share it with.

Your Blogging Type Is Thoughtful and Considerate

Your Blogging Type is Pensive and Philosophical

You blog like no one else is reading...

You tend to use your blog to explore ideas - often in long winded prose.

Easy going and flexible, you tend to befriend other bloggers easily.

But if they disagree with once too much, you'll pull them from your blogroll!
