How fast do you read ?

Featured Replies

I'm pretty slow at reading these days. :\ Gotta read "Mrs Dalloway" till tomorrow, or at least try. I started reading it in England, but it bored me so much that I stopped. :stunned:

*tries again*

When I was younger I read sooo much...read books with 300 pages without break. Now it depends on the book. The last two weeks I read two very interesting books. But if I'm not really interested I give it up soon. Even LOTR after 50 pages :/

i read reallly slowly ..that sux, cause i actually love reading..

^ *nods in agreement*

i can read quite quickly. usually in class i sit twiddling my thumbs waiting 4 evry1 2 finish readin......which is cool cos then i can snooze :D :snore: <---me in english 2day!

can read a 500 page book in 3 days if i tried...not non stop obviously :)

yeah same with me. if the books not interesting it can take me so much longer to read. but on those books i usually just don't read them.

I REAF FAST AND FORGETS SLOWLY :D

I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO READ AT THE MOMENT THO :bigcry:

I inhale books.

Depending on your interests, I would recommend Aldus Huxley's 'Island'- more compelling and less well known than his 'Brave New World' and gives you some good ideas on how to make yourself more sane in this crazy world!

Wasn't Aldus Huxley one of those authors who really got enchanted with India, something similar to Emerson and Thoreau and Goethe

I think so... he certainly had a higher opinion of cultures that give greater weight to the mystical than the intellectual/consumerist drives of Western Culture... I think he saw the Western world a bunch of barbarians.

hmmm really? wow i didn't know that!

are you an English major?

I read Brave New World, and I think it's the only you can find here (of him, in english - I live in Chile and we speak Spanish-) I'd never heard of that book before though. I did like BNW a lot, even though the first like 50 pages are just, to me, like there to be there, not reason at all. I mean there is, but I would like short them up and make it a bit more agreadable. The "second part", I mean after those tedious 50 pages, its awesome! It really cought me up, and well I read it quite a while ago, so I should try it again, cause is one of those books that you read them twice and they are still very very good :D

im pretty fast but i get bored very easily.

hmmm perhaps i will read this book...or at least check out its cover!

As fast as possible so I can get rid of the book. :D

:o then youre wasting money!

if i like the book, then ill read about 100-150 pages a day..

and just for fun..

a few of my fav books are:

The earthquake bird by susanna jones

LOTR by you must know who! :P

Down and out in paris and london

and nineteen eighty-four <-----love this book so bad :P both by george orwell..

I read pretty fast cause I just basically skim over stuff :P

I've read really fast when I've gotten really deep into some material...but I can't keep up with that pace, so I come down to reading all words again and that slows me down...

in engineering, you can't skip much of any words :/
