August 4, 200817 yr They should leave the "cheese" to the cheesy bands like the Scissor Sisters.;) :laugh3: scissor sisters are one step of cheese too far! :laugh3: I think it's brave of Keane to go down the 80's route but I hope the rest of the album is not as cheesy. I do like Spiralling tho don't get me wrong.
August 4, 200817 yr Neither do I. Sounds like a second-rate Eighties pop song, those "woohs" sound very naff and dated, and after the brilliance of UTIS, I'm extremely disappointed.:( I can only hope this isn't representative of the whole album.:dozey: true, true ;)
August 4, 200817 yr come on guys! it's not that bad! but it is going to be very difficult to improve since Under The Iron Sea is such a great album!
August 4, 200817 yr come on guys! it's not that bad! but it is going to be very difficult to improve since Under The Iron Sea is such a great album! i really like the new song :D it is abit cheesy tho
August 4, 200817 yr I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT, lol, very VERY different lol, I was quite surprised to see what happened to my Keane, lol, but they said there are more traditional Keane songs on the album aswell :D
August 4, 200817 yr not sure about this song right now, but then again i was very keen (pun intended) on is it any wonder. i liked hopes and fears a lot, and i liked under the iron sea even better. that said this seems probably like how is it any wonder was for me when i first heard it. i wondered about the bands new direction. now im going to guess this is the apex of the new sound, and the rest of the album will be more old keane influenced with this new sound, but not dominated by it. the songs iffy, but because so was is it any wonder, im not looking to slag off on the band right now. oh...and i like the "oohs"
August 4, 200817 yr Just cos you guys seem confused, Hopes + Fears was 10x better than Under The Iron Sea...
August 4, 200817 yr Just cos you guys seem confused, Hopes + Fears was 10x better than Under The Iron Sea... Oh and I thought musical taste was opinion based. :dozey:
August 4, 200817 yr Oh and I thought musical taste was opinion based. :dozey: Opinion biased, more like!!:P
August 4, 200817 yr But come on, I know I prefer the simpler songs in H+F to the overly produced tracks in UTIS. I mean, they're both amazing albums, but H+F has the edge with its relative simplicity and originality... Doesn't it? :P
August 4, 200817 yr Hmm, jury is out on Spiralling for me at the moment  Will give it a few more listens :D
August 4, 200817 yr But come on, I know I prefer the simpler songs in H+F to the overly produced tracks in UTIS. I mean, they're both amazing albums, but H+F has the edge with its relative simplicity and originality... Doesn't it? :P I've said it before, but I felt that while H&F contained some cracking singles, UTIS was a far better all-round album.;)
August 4, 200817 yr I've said it before, but I felt that while H&F contained some cracking singles, UTIS was a far better all-round album.;) I love the Hopes and Fears album some great songs on it and was the perfect debut. I agree tho Under The Iron Sea was a better album as it flowed great and the use of keyboard sounds by Tim was experimental and really cool.
August 4, 200817 yr ^ UTIS was Tim's album. I like the way the whole band had their input into H+F. I dunno, I get the feeling i'm outnumbered here!
August 4, 200817 yr ^ UTIS was Tim's album. I like the way the whole band had their input into H+F. I dunno, I get the feeling i'm outnumbered here! Yes - I think you should quit while you're behind!:P
August 4, 200817 yr ^ UTIS was Tim's album. I like the way the whole band had their input into H+F. I dunno, I get the feeling i'm outnumbered here! Yeah I think your right about Under The Iron Sea being Tim's album. He had alot of input on that album looking at the studio footage. Hopes and Fears is still a great album it's just I prefare Under The Iron Sea :D 'We Might As Well Be Strangers' is one of my favourite Keane songs :D 'Sunshine' is a great song aswell :D
August 4, 200817 yr i love hopes and fears, and actually think there are more quality songs on that album. but i think on under the iron sea the songs they do well they do extremely well. i decided to just blast spiralling on my computer and now im feeling pretty good about it. its not the keane you usually think about, because this song is one i want to jump around and just shout the "oooh"s. i like that they've evolved though. i know some people have been looking for hopes and fears 2, but i always like to see my favorite bands evolve their sound...as long as they dont go off the deep end
