  1. Wow, sorry to hear. And glad you are back ! There is no reason to be afraid of sharing your opinion here, as you know this is such a nice forum. But I can understand that it may cause you anxiety. Don't pressure yourself on posting when you don't feel like it.
  2. You don't have to be sorry. We all noted your interested in which songs are singles and we were just making a bit fun of you :P You can write about whatever you want in regards to the album !
  3. Well I have a confession to make: it is sometimes a guilty pleasure of mine to read negative/hate comments on Coldplay and laugh about how wrong/uninformed they are. And recently on Twitter I even took it up a notch and responded to some (in a funny, non-offensive way obviously) :joy:
  4. I wasn't with you until you quoted that "she'll bring the colours" line...damn, that makes SO much sense actually !
  5. I'm sorry you didn't like the album. Personally I love most of it but I agree with the passages I quoted enough. About Trouble in Town, like @shred said, I actually love Will's "Aaaah"s :) And btw I saw a lot of people here saying they don't like the voice sample in Trouble in Town...to me, it fits perfectly with the eerie atmosphere of the instrumental and i love it how Chris softly continues singing underneath it (I don't understand what he sings, something with "...sorry ?". I think the voice sample makes the song even more special.
  6. Love the lyric video but as I said on Twitter when Coldplay posted it, I have some heavy issues with a song talking about children losing their parents and bombs going off in Syria being made into a remix for the partying folk to dance to in clubs...
  7. Give us the link
  8. I mean, I kind of had the wrong expectations I think. I expected to like the songs instantly if they are good. But the truth is, great music often takes a few listens to appreciate. The first time I listened to Parachutes or AROBTTH or X&Y I didn't go 'wow, I love every song on this', I just loved a few. And then over time you appreciate all the fine details and fall in love with the other songs as well. And if the songs aren't meant for you, like for instance much of AHFOD, you listen a lot and they don't grow on you and you don't feel the need to re-listen to them all the time. (But I still think the album has terrible flow - as does X&Y, by the way- and some songs like BrokEn, WOTW and Cry Cry Cry would better have been B-sides, LOL)
  9. Has grown on me as well ! Thanks for your interpretation @Blockflote, that totally makes sense. I was struggling to understand the meaning before but now I get it !!
  10. I have a feeling it's Jonny playing the guitar on this one, style-wise. Love the fingerpicking and the outro.
  11. Yes, your turn !
  12. I really slept on how awesome this album is in the first two days LOL @The Adversary You were so happy about it and I was a bit cautious remember, liking only some songs ? Well, i understood its greatness now !
  13. Err...I think you may have listened to the instrumental accidentally o_O
  14. I'll have to check. I'll get back to you !
  15. Thank you so much for all your replies, they mean very much to me  I'm really in quite a state these days though, even reading through them made me tear up, and I think this is my third attempt to come up with a reply. I mean, I'm aware there is nothing in the world forcing me to listen to the new Coldplay album, it's just that I have a strong urge to, as always when I "discover" new music that I love. At the moment, Everyday Life is kind of eclipsing everything else in terms of music I want to listen to. I'll have to see how to deal with it and maybe listen to it during brighter patches. Yesterday I had a longer bright patch and I listened to Trouble in Town and Bani Adam and had no issue with it. Like, I felt there was sadness in the songs but it didn't feel like it was flowing through me. By the way, the one song that is really uplifting to me on this album is Champion Of The World. It's my favourite track tied with Trouble in Town. Granted, I was sold on it the moment I heard that guitar riff set in but when I heard the lyrics, the themes of trying but not fitting in, suicide, having a fighter spirit and overcoming adversities, I knew this was my song. The lines that speak to me the most are: "This mountainside, this suicide This dream will never work, Still the sign above my headstone write: a Champion of the world" and "I am jumping with no parachute out into the universe" (interestingly, I loved this line when I saw it on the SNL guitar straps before even knowing what its song would sound like) I love it how this song is so optimistic and yet touches some dark, dark subjects. By the way I want to reply to some of the things you said specifically, will quote and make another post later.
  16. I think this is the part during the bridge where you can see their silhouettes.
  17. Great find, thanks !
  18. Yes, the puppet one has pictures from concerts while the previous version focusses more on album art
  19. Oh gosh, what a thing to have to go through. Replying to the other posts later but just wanted to say that we're thinking of you, and hope she makes it through !!! Stay strong !
  20. That's one of my favourite songs actually :D
  21. Reading this post alone made me emotional...
  22. that was me, I think :D
  23. Is is that Museum thing that everyone on Twitter seems to talk about but no one clarifies ?
  24. I think Chris said in the BBC Live Lounge in 2017 that Graceland is one of his favourite albums ! And that he listened to it while in Zimbabwe as a kid, if I remember correctly.
