Chris Martin, Nile Rodgers and Avicii collaborating for a new song
I actually quite like Chris's harmony there, just wish it wasn't so obscured with the heavy use of the vocoder.

I think you've made an egregious typo.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Especially Lady Gaga  I mean your list loses all credibility when you have Lady Gaga over Chris Martin on a list for the 100 greatest rock pianists.

Fan song theory time!
I don't see how you think the majority of it is cliche though. There are serial offenders of course, but I'd say the vast majority is not cliche at all. You could hardly call the lyrics on VLVODAAHF cliche? I suppose it depends on what your threshold for cliche is. Violet Hill, for example is up there with some of the stuff Thom Yorke has written. Bar Lost! and LiJ that album has great depth lyrically. I know your an Oasis fan and I'd much prefer Chris's lyrics over NG, especially on the early Oasis stuff where he seemingly was just throwing words at a page.

Well, If they do they are keeping it very close to their chest. The Stargate assumption is fair and just a matter of official confirmation at this point considering what the band have tweeted, although I hope it's not true based on Stargate's credentials. I also don't know where they're getting the "highly personal" songs thing from. We know nothing of the lyrics. Maybe just an assumption based on the tenuous link to GS?

Fan song theory time!
Absolutely, Some of my favourite lyrics are in Parachutes! I never said they didn't have good lyrics (bar GS) I mentioned AROBTTH because in my opinion it is the best album lyrically.

Fan song theory time!
This is interesting. Of course, as a native English speaker I have a massive luxury, but I can't imagine listening to songs in anything but English as my native language. I think if the situation was reversed and much of music was sang in German, I probably couldn't listen to it.

ELIMINATION #2: A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD
I Bloom Blaum is an amazing title (Just rolls off the tongue). It is probably one of the weaker b sides but nonetheless I still think its a great song.

Fan song theory time!
I wouldn't call Chris a poor lyricist at all. You can't write the lyrics for an album like AROBTTH and be a poor lyricist. People often criticize X&Y lyrically, bar A Message and some of Swallowed in the Sea, Lyrically X&Y is probably my favourite. Especially on the esoteric and cryptic songs such as Talk, Speed of Sound. There's a certain boldness and confidence in the AROBTTH lyrics and this is perfectly contrasted with the fearful, anxiety ridden lyrics on X&Y I wouldn't necessarily call the Fix You lyrics cliche either. Chris's lyrics are usually vague and need to be deciphered, just because there more straight forward on Fix You doesn't mean there cliche. The lyrics are the main reason that song is as instantly recognizable and beloved as it is.

ELIMINATION #1: PARACHUTES
If just ordinary music fans played this game, I think you would see Shiver, Yellow and Everything's not Lost rank highly. You can tell by the results that pure Coldplay fans played this. The final 4 didn't surprise me really, I'm glad Don't Panic came out on top. It really is a fan favourite :parachutes:

ELIMINATION #2: A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD
You are right when you say a bloodbath, this is the first round and there's only been six votes and people are already voting for songs I hold very dear. Parachutes was fun, this is going to be more fun. I'd like to see Politik win but if I was to hazard a prediction I would say the final four will be: 1. Warning Sign 2. Clocks 3. Politik 4. The Scientist I predict now The Scientist (mainly due to the poll so far) will come out on top. I vote for 1.36 this round.
-
Coldplaying fan music video anyone?
A Poll would be needed to pick the song I think, there will be no consensus in discussion on a thread. Even then you're still going to need at least some criteria (B Side, non single, from a certain album etc) or else the sample size will be absolutely massive.

That's what inattention results in. Yes I meant the other way around with AROBTTH being the best and so on. EDIT: Fixed
