  1. Got to be Strawberry Swing :P The battle of Hoth scene in The Empire Strikes Back
  2. I have this nudging feeling that the first single will be very electronic. Not in the EDM, Avicii sense of the word but more in the vein of Midnight, Just a more colourful sound.
  3. I hope we get some sampling from other artists on AHFOD. I like it when Coldplay sample another artist and put their own creative spin on it. Talk is a great example of this, how Coldplay took Kraftwerk's Computer Love and made a distinctly Coldplay song. Likewise I love The Escapist too. Would prefer this a lot more than collaborations.
  4. Well, those songs got heavy rotation on radio when they were released. Too bad we don't hear them that much anymore. I always love hearing Coldplay on the radio, despite listening to them by other means everyday. There's something great thinking everyone else is listening to the songs you cherish as well. If I ever request a Coldplay song to be played on my favourite radio station I always specify what I want to hear now because if you just ask for Coldplay you're going to end up with either VLV, Paradise, Magic or ASFOS :(
  5. I agree and disagree I suppose. I'm not really expressing my point well but what I'm basically trying to say is that while VLV is a very creative record, for me it somewhat lost the intimacy and shyness of the other records. Whereas VLV will get an arena rocking, AROBTTH will do it without all the bells and whistles. Anyway, despite my reactionary Oldplayer streak, I'm still as excited as anybody for LP7.
  6. Like you said it's subjective. I'm probably more hardcore Oldplayer than some but yes, I have said on the forum before that VLV was perhaps Coldplay's most creative period but creativity and quality aren't always necessarily correlated. VLV is a great album but in comparison to the trilogy it lacks the same soul. Too much emphasis on being special and different and not enough emphasis on creating powerful and emotional rock music like before. This only intensifies on MX and GS in my honest opinion. Probably a lot of it has to do with production as well. After X&Y the albums weren't being produced like rock albums and more like easily accessible mainstream radio music. I just want to give a small disclaimer and say I still adore VLV and I am very fond of MX. Just because I say "downhill" I don't mean bad or deficient in value. Just not as dazzlingly amazing as Parachutes, AROBTTH and X&Y.
  7. When you are discussing music and someone says they like Coldplay before you mention them. A rare but special moment.

A A: I was scared, I was scared. Tired and under prepared, but I'll wait for it. B: Bones sinking like stones, all that we fought for. Homes places we've grown, all of us are done for.
  9. Yeah, MX and GS have their moments but it has been steadily downhill since X&Y.
  10. So recently I discovered this guy's youtube channel. He describes himself as a free climber and scales tall urban structures such as cranes and buildings without any supervision or safety precautions. Armed with nothing but his courage and a goPro camera. If you're like me you'll find this absolutely fascinating. I can't watch this without my heart rate rising and getting sweaty palms. When he reaches the top, he usually stands free form without holding on to anything and you can hear the wind in his camera :P I judged this guy to be a lunatic with a death wish but you'll find people in the comment section defending his actions saying it is all educated risk and that they have done similar in the past. I think this will serve as an interesting discussion. Another thing I'm wondering is how he's not locked up at this stage as for most of his stunts he breaks into a building site (Although some of his stunts have been done legally. Eg Wembly arch). I'm not sure about UK trespassing law but If I was to hazard a guess I'd say it would be fairly in line with Irish law and this guy could get up to three years (Especially when he videos all the incriminating evidence and broadcasts it to the world) If this guy was to plummet to his death who would be culpable? Here are some of his exploits: [video=youtube;snjFYt_k1j4]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snjFYt_k1j4 [video=youtube;HH7bJAMLBYQ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HH7bJAMLBYQ [video=youtube;edAnAYf-lBE]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edAnAYf-lBE
  11. My thoughts exactly. Avoid like the plague.

B A: And the spies came out of the water, but you're feeling so bad cos you know, but the spies hide out in every corner B: They got one eye watching you, one eye, what you do? So be careful who it is you’re talking to
  13. A Rush of Blood to the Head-Pop edition, Phil Tan and Stargate mix (Shudders violently)
  14. I'd say the most underrated album by far is Mylo Xyloto. It has its flaws but to me it is a satisfactory mix between pop and rock, old and new. I still prefer it to Ghost Stories which I view as almost exclusively pop. I think X&Y is slightly underrated also. As far as overrated goes I think VLVODAAHF is Coldplay's most overrated album (Not by much, but still overrated) I think Parachutes is rated well. AROBTTH is perfectly rated amongst most Coldplayers, but vastly under appreciated by non-Coldplayers in general.
  15. Coldplay to us every Monday: [video=youtube;FZ2X2HSxcgU]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ2X2HSxcgU
  16. Happy Birthday! Thanks for making Coldplaying such a community-oriented and accessible place :)
  17. So a good friend of mine is going Skydiving next Friday. We were discussing it and mid conversation, to amuse myself I said the following: "So yeah, Don't Panic. Just check your Parachutes and when you jump out of the plane you'll get A Rush Of Blood To the Head. You'll go From X to Y and it'll be such a rush. Just remember Life is for Living and don't meet Death and all his Friends. For 30 seconds it'll be Paradise but then you'll be nothing more than a Ghost Story. But Don't let it Break Your Heart ;) " Needless to say she didn't find it very funny but it made me laugh :laugh3:
  18. Frankly, You're all too good at this game. I feel Lost!

A A: Through the dark streets, they go searching, to see God in their own way, Save the night time for your weeping. B: Where do we go, nobody knows. I gotta saw I'm on my way down, God give me style and give me grace and put a smile upon my face.
  20. Easy to Please also
  21. This is very, very true. Very quiet on the Coldplay front. I think if the album was anywhere near the finishing stages there would be a lot more activity, or at least some kind of movement. I think we may be waiting til early 2016 for the album itself, but hopefully we will hear some new material played live if we do happen to wait that long.

A A: Careful where you stand, my love. Careful where you lay your head. B: And then I looked up at the sun, and I could see. Oh, the way that gravity pulls on you and me.
  23. Yeah, I thought that myself. It would be completely out of character for Coldplay to just drop something out of nowhere without some kind of hint or dare I say official announcement. As much as I'd love for the Coldplayer instinct to be true and for us to get a single tomorrow morning I doubt it will happen. I also have similar doubts about this anon and I'm thinking the iHeartradio announcement was purely a coincidence. That also means that European arena tour in November won't be happening either :( So unless Coldplay go Beyonce we'll probably be waiting until global citizen to hear new material (Which I'm sure we will) That still puts us at a loss to when the album will be released.
  24. Just one of the weaker songs on Parachutes in my opinion. I don't think it's bad just doesn't have the musical depth some of the other songs have on the album... and the way people go on about it. Criminally overrated, especially compared with songs like Spies and We Never Change. I even think High Speed is vastly superior. It drags on a bit as well and it sounds suspiciously similar to Grace by Jeff Buckley :uneasy:
