Beautiful Day vs With Or Without You

The reason is a long one, however I'll make it as short as possible. The band's style... I just don't know, but it sets them apart from most other artists. There's just Coldplay's signature sound to them, and they always make the songs sound so beautiful and rich... the songs these days are just carelessly put together, without really any thought, at least that's what it feels like. I really like the songs on the radio that feel "rich" and "complete" in that sense, and they mean something. One night I looked up random Coldplay songs and EVERY SINGLE ONE fo them (looked up about 12) felt like that amazing feeling you get on the radio when that song you just loves comes on. It's just magic. I don't know why it is... Coldplay's magic in their songs is just what attracts me. Have no idea really of what it is. It could be this thoughL It definetely plays a big part. But there's something bigger I think I'm missing in my true answer and I have no idea what it is. I could write a 300 mile long post about why I love Coldplay so much and try to find a way to explain it but that way I'd be picking at this "magical fabric" too much and it might almost be completely fallen apart. What's magic about them is magic about them, and it's almost better if I just relax and listen to the music then try to figure out what it is. At this point, I'll just call it... the Coldplay magic. I think that's good enough. :) Interestingly enough that's one of the times where I just let the letters flow as I type them... I explain my true thoughts and feelings and I love when that happens! I feel so good and it's happrninh right now. I think it's good for me, really lets me feel how I actually am because I'm actually typing it instead of keeping it locked up inside :) I think those are the times when your things make the most sense. It just comes directly on the screen from your brain and I guess that's the best way to describe it I guess, it's just wonderous. Especially it helps with topics I'm particularely affected about like this one. :) I know, that last paragraph was just an interesting thought my brain had, not really related but Coldplay but that doesn't mattee! IMO it's true... :P
  3. I was just in the process of making the War of the U2 songs thread and I had my music player on shuffle... when U.F.O. played. I can't help but just close my eyes and drift off into a distant place when that comes on. I just love that song. So nice. :) :D
  4. Because why not? I've really been getting into U2 lately. I'm pretty sure most of you love U2 as well like me, so why not give it a go? Rules are the same as in the "War of the Coldplay songs" thread; choose the favorite song above you and put it against another song: If you see, for example: Vertigo vs With Or Without You If you like Vertigo better you'd put it against another song, like: Vertigo vs Beautiful Day The next person would select their favorite song, and then the game goes on. I'll start with: Where The Streets Have No Name vs. Beautiful Day Let the games begin!!!
  5. Parachutes, then Ghost Stories, both by Coldplay
  6. Also about Midnight and Fly On (O), I completely agree. They're both masterpieces IMO and are some of the best tracks of Coldplay.
  7. I think you took my post the wrong way :D I really absolutely do love Ghost Stories if I listen to it on my own. It's a special thing on it's own at night. However it's a definite step down from Parachutes. They do have the same down-beat feel and are Coldplay's two "quiet" albums however I just find Parachutes flows much better together and the songs themselves feel true and honest, and have this flow and feel to them that I can't explain, that is just so calming and warm. GS is calming too, and has a "cool" vibe to it which I also find great, however the quality of the songs in the first half of the album especially is just... I don't know what to call it. They tried to replicate Parachutes, this time with a poppier feel and electronics, but it just didn't work as well. The instrumentation is poor compared to Parachutes, I still like the vibe on it's own and the instrumentation fits with it but when I think of Parachutes I think of it as a step down. The second half of the album, that being said, is quite spectacular, with Oceans and Fly On especially not necessarily having the wanm vibe as Parachutes does but the flow and the instrumentation is there (despite the electronic drumbeat in Oceans, it fits magically with the acoustic guitar). The production is also cleaner on GS which I think takes away from it as well, Essentially what I'm trying to say is that GS's "cool" feel fits very well with the general instrumentation they used if you think about it, and the flow is very very nice. However, the song quality itself, and the production on the songs (clean), is a problem that puts it beliw Parachutes, which has great production, great flow both overall and in the song struction (just feels so nice, I don't know exactly how to explain it), relaxing, down-beat, and unlike GS has a warm vibe to is which I also appreciate. Also, one thing that's interesting about Parachutes... it's just absolutely perfect. It's worst song (Spies) isn't even bad; it's a masterpiece. However, GS has many songs that are just too R&B/pop for me, and the vibe of those in particular isn't really my thing compared to Parachutes: True Love, Another's Arms, Ink, Magic. (The latter two are better than the former two, and while pop, I like Ink for it's melancholic guitar with the melody, and Magic... because I don't know :P) GS IMO feels like a poppier/R&B version of Parachutes, and the genre just can't compare to Parachutes. Overall, this is why I prefer Parachutes to it. (i know, long post :P)
  8. Types of tracks like these are what I'd have envisioned AHFOD to be. This has such the vibe and feel to it that it fits the description of what I'd have hoped AHFOD to be surprisingly well... I really dig it. :)
  9. Played drums since I can't remember, know violin, picked up piano half a year ago and starting to pick up guitar as well now. :D
  10. ^ I'd adore to hear both those live. Also I'd just love to hear Amsterdam or Gravity. Love to hear AROBTTH... maybe a little Warning Sign. Oh how I love Coldplay's older music too.... just something about them. Just something. Just listened to Parachutes, then GS immediately after since I was taking a little drive... holy what a quality drop. It's just sad, honestly. :(
  11. Hmm that makes more sense. Took me a while to get in my head what you were actually trying to say with that tho lol :P
  12. Hmm now I know your opinion on Til Kingdom Come.... although I think I know now, have you lsitened to a lot of folk tracks? Maybe that's why I love Til Kingdom Come and it's melody, I haven't heard it a lot and love the so relaxing. But if maybe I heard more folk tracks I'd not like it as much but I want to like TKC XD
  13. ^ Actually your probably right, that makes much more sense to have that happen. Probably video doesn't have them in there at all although that'd be pretty epic and sweet. However I never heard that in the track they have then either and I don't think they are on that track so now then again I think its in the music video which'd be epic.
  14. BTW on this whole thing I've said it before but maybe these requests will make them see how good they once were. Maybe.
  15. Birds Drum Beat Still thinking of question... EDIT: Okay. Which of these tracks would you want to remove from AROBTTH: Daylight vs A Whisper
  16. And also, if the studio version was more like the live version, you'd find myself upvoting Major Minus.
  17. ^ The intro and outro are weird. The rest of the song is actually pretty okay, including the part before the guitar solo and the guitar solo itself are both freaking EPIC. But hey, there's gotta be one song that's the lowest in my personal rankings. It's not that it's bad; it's just worse than the others.
  18. Mylo Xyloto - 30 Fix You - 20 Amazing Day - 10 Actually vote for Mylo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. + TIl Kingdom Come - 3 Up In Flames - 6 A Spell A Rebel Yell - 4 - Major Minus - 9 << This thing needs to go away. Ink - 4 Pour Me (Live) - 7 So I guess @arushofjacktothehead asked why we liked Up In Flames. May I ask what is wrong with TKC???? Like, there's 170 songs still left in the game. I'm certain that there are 3 songs out of the remaining list at least that are worse than TKC. Ink, AIMH, (I understand @I ran away's love of POC) but honestly there's gotta be something in here that's worse than TKC. #SAVETILKINGDOMCOME
  20. Oh and also @arushofjacktothehead HFTW is at 3 points :D
  21. For all those voting Til Kingdom Come, I'd love to bring your attention to Princess of China. :D (even tho I sort of like that one)
  22. + Til Kingdom Come - 4 Up In Flames - 6 AOAL - 7 - Major Minus - 8 Ink - 5 Pour Me (Live) - 9
