Politics is a dirty sport. That's why government is best when it is weak. I think Coldplay's CD isn't so serious though, it's just more of a general statement of the human situation throughout history.

I'm going to organize a massive "No Earring for Guy" campaign and get everyone going to the free Coldplay concerts to publicly embarrass him with posters demanding he take it off. :D

I hope Pitchfork pretends to hate it just because it's Coldplay, and everyone else loves it and it sells a billion copies. And Pitchfork's site drops to just 100 hits a day max because their reputation is shot. :D

It's cool, but personally I like Guy with longer hair (like in my avatar) and Chris with shorter hair. Plus I don't really believe in band styles... I just wish they'd wear whatever they feel like wearing (like back in the Parachutes days). Guy should ditch the earring, too, they'd just need a parrot to make him look like a pirate. But I'm just being nitpicky, I secretly think it's all cool.

I've never tried it, and I've never been drunk before... so I can't be good for comparisons. But I decided early on that there's no point in getting high/drunk unless you've got a really, really crappy life. My life is only relatively crappy, so I'm clean. :P

Music is something that tickles your ears in a way that you enjoy. Honestly I don't care if I hear guitar, or harpsichord, or tablas, or computers. It can all be good music. It's the same four guys making an album, and I'm inclined to think they still have a dedication to their craft. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Violet Hill, I held out knowing they wouldn't disappoint. You should feel the same way - there is bound to be another track on here that you will enjoy to no end, maybe something that reminds you of parachutes. Either way, forgoing a FREE concert because you don't like their new sound is sort of bordering on self-flagellation. They'll be playing Parachutes songs at the concert, and who knows... maybe the live versions of their new songs will make you appreciate them more. Music is about emotion, so go to the free concert and take a guy/girl you like, and make it an evening to remember. Yeesh.

Agreed, this is going to be a huge success. I'll say it again: best song since Clocks.

I've listened to this twice and I think it's fair to say I consider it the most beautiful song Coldplay have done since Clocks. The lyrics are so perfect. It reminds me of 18th century France or something... I can't wait to see the video.
