  1. First American to PM me with their SS# gets a cookie! (Just kidding!)
  2. Again, a very simple song. It's almost like they were advised to keep a minimal number of instruments going at a time. I kinda miss hearing guitars and complexity... but I do like the song, it was pleasant.
  3. So let me get this straight: they're the only radio program in the world that has access to a new Coldplay song, but they're holding off on playing it to play a bunch of other songs that we've already had a chance to hear in other places...
  4. Yah I've got that rip. Things I Don't Understand is a very solid song, but I think Coldplay were aware it probably didn't have the same staying-power of some of their other tunes. Anyway, I'll reiterate this: I've NEVER been disappointed by a Coldplay B-side. Never. So I'll be listening to BBC1 at 2:00. But first it's my naptime. :D

CT is a pretty rich state, that's where all the hedge fund managers live. I dunno if I could take the cold weather, though. I'm from SC... Here's what I'd get in my homestate: http://www.luxuryportfolio.com/property/charleston/new_home_in_the_heart_of_the_historic_district.cfm

Hey Ari, I'm Jay. You can find castles on that site if you search... Italy has some nice lakeside villas, too.
  7. God rest my weary soul. I've got two exams this week and I have a 4 hour long simulation the night before each of them - so there goes my plan to cram. Then I've got a metric crapton of homework to catch up on, a paper to write, and this isn't even finals week yet.
  8. Wow... this thread caused me to lose faith in humanity. And that's saying alot, since it took me 4 years to regain it after seeing a documentary about the atomic bomb being dropped on Japan. Thanks, ladies. :D

Portugal looks awesome, ariadnasquire. I'll put that on my list of countries to buy property in. Hotplay007, you've made a good choice. The money will be wired to your account within the next 24 hrs. :D

http://www.luxuryportfolio.com/selector.cfm Go here, pick where you want to live, and check out the properties for sale. Assume price is no object. Here's the one I selected, because I like warm weather and modern architecture: http://www.luxuryportfolio.com/property/paradise_island/remarkable_ocean_club_estates_residence.cfm It's only $12,000,000!
  11. I'm convinced God exists, but I don't think we can understand the nature of the universe... it's beyond our comprehension. We might know all the details after we die, or maybe not. Some people believe life is just one long spell of suffering, completely unnecessary. I don't think this is the case at all... our time on Earth is a blessing. I read an interesting anecdote about God's power: think about the fact that you were born. This isn't something you ever seriously consider or question, but who are YOU? Why are you you? Why aren't you someone else, born in another time or another country? The reason is: God chose to wake you up, bring you into existence in these circumstances. That's frightening power. You had no choice in the matter. But now you're here, and you have to make the best of it!

  13. LMAO Free Coldplay concert + Coldplaying Orgy + Chris Martin buys ice cream for everybody = Direct ascension to heaven, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
  14. Steve Miller - Fly Like An Eagle
  15. Close to 200. I've got uncompressed WAV backups of their CDs on another external hard drive, too. (Nerd alert!)
  16. I've never been let down by a Coldplay B-side before. So I'm actually more optimistic about this song than I was Violet Hill. Plus, the 30 second clip we got was pretty sweet.
  17. Your Brit-speak is vaguely attractive...
  18. It takes a while to get a gun in America. Switzerland actually has a higher gun:citizen ratio and a much lower violent crime rate. But back to the topic: The Phantom Planet song has a much longer and lower chorus, and the part leading up to the chorus is also drawn out with different notes than Violet Hill. Just because you watch the OC doesn't make you the musical grand master.
  19. lol, this thread is a lawsuit waiting to happen... I go both ways, so I wouldn't know where to begin, LOL. I'm just going to say that there are a lot of good looking coldplayers (judging from the pics thread).
  20. I saw Iron Man today... a seriously good movie. And coming from me (a movie snob) that's saying alot. Gwyneth was awesome in it, too. I loved her character.
  21. Without Coldplay my high school life would have been ten times harder. Listening to that music helped me get through really stressful experiences. I was first exposed to Coldplay when I was visiting my grandma's house right after Yellow got big... I never heard the song until then because we didn't have cable TV at my house and I didn't care about music much at that point. But I was flipping around the channels at her house when I hit MTV playing the Yellow video, and I stopped there a minute to watch it. At first I thought he was Scottish, but what grabbed me and kept me listening was the incredible guitar... unlike other guitar I'd heard, this was just so "friendly" sounding. That nearly brought me to tears. So anyway, I forgot about the song up until my friend told me about this great band he found called Coldplay in 2002, when AROBTTH was new. So I downloaded the CD (I'm bad) and listened to it the whole way through... I'd never experienced anything like that because there wasn't a single bad song on the whole disk. Then I found Parachutes and I knew this was the band for me!
  22. I wish the Chris wouldn't think so hard about this kind of stuff. More people should be proud of the fact they like certain bands... all my friends know I like Coldplay and I think they respect me for it. Usually when I admit they're one of my top bands, other people open up and admit it, too! Plus it's not like I blast Clocks and Yellow in my car at 135 db with the windows rolled down. I'm aware not everyone likes them, unlike fans of the Wu Tang Clan or whatever.
  23. Probably 9 or 12... somewhere in there.
  24. Personally I hope it's Doves, they've got a new record coming out soon.
