lol, you figured me out. I do like money... which is odd since I don't have a penny to my name. Typically rich people diversify their investments among many hedge funds, so if my fund went totally kaput, they'd only lose a fraction of what they owned overall. There are lots of examples of hedge funds that blew up (Amaranth and LTCM come to mind)... but I can't say I'd make my fund as risky as those. You want to work in a Hawaiian hospital? That sounds sweet, I love the tropics.

Is that what you take to become a radiologist? My mom's friend's husband is one of those, and he opened his own doctors office and bought the equipment to do it (using borrowed money). Now he employs several doctors and he's very wealthy. I'm going to try to start a hedge fund, which is just where you run around and ask rich people if you can manage their money for them. Then you gather it all up into a pile and invest it in anything you want - commodities, currencies, stocks, bonds, startups, real estate. It's extremely risky because the goal is to beat what the average market return is (usually just 10% a year). A good hedge fund shoots for 20 to 50% returns a year. Sometimes you can get that by borrowing money (called "leveraging") but that obviously increases the risk dramatically. Oh, and there are ways to make money on a stock that goes down... it's all very fun stuff. Requires a gambler's mentality, though.

I finish up at the end of May. I'm a Political Science major, but I intend to go into finance (stock market stuff) and later start my own companies. How bout you? Dude if I skip two more class meetings in Italian I'll have failed the course. It's not because I'm a slacker... it's because he has a fascist attendance policy. Three strikes and you're out. Contrary to what they often tell you, I'm inclined to believe the "real world" is easier than school. Just a hunch.

Chris Martin should drop the colors and flavors and start singing about different types of deodorants. His "Ode to Deodorant" was amazing, I'd like to hear a whole album built around it!

I totally understand what the German guy is saying, and Hotplay007 too. I think we share the same sentiment. I think we should make a distinction between "different sounding" and "different style". Different sounding means Brian Eno is producing and they're using instruments from all over the world - this, in my view, is an excellent decision. I love bands and music that use sounds from the middle east, africa, etc. What I'm sensing is there may be a different tract being taken by Chris with regard to songwriting style. I didn't detect a musical "hook" in Violet Hill or ASARY like we get in most other Coldplay songs. It's these hooks that Chris is especially adept at discovering and exploiting, and that lead to the emotional connection with a song. Just pounding on instruments really hard doesn't get you there. Think of what Politik would be like without that amazing transition to piano and falsetto where Chris sings "oh give me love over..." it would be a very plain song. Like Violet Hill. But I'm not worried yet. I will reserve judgment until I hear the whole album. This isn't a scathing attack on Coldplay, it's just something a few fans of their music have noticed and are temporarily saddened by.

The irony of that is I actually think Guy and Will are far better spokesmen for the band. Chris tends to joke alot and say stuff that's sorta far-out, and Jonny just smiles and nods. Charming, to be sure, but I'd like to hear about the songwriting process and the inspiration and psychology behind the music. Plus Will and Guy just never get as much airtime so seeing an interview with just them would be sweet.

I agree, I love A Whisper. Part of the fun of hearing new Coldplay songs is the different sound "textures" they have... each feels different to your ears. I hope that continues.
