Lost is quite poor to be honest and the rap version is cringworthy.

U2 went from Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby which wasnt dancy but was modern and quite garagy and heavy and was/ is still a classic. The POP album came a few years later after Zooropa. POP and Zooropa were not well recieved so they went back to their roots with ATYCLB. I think the problem most people have is Coldplay seem to be purposly heading in a direction that is chart friendly and literally designed for teenagers.

Its a strange direction Coldplay are taking, they are release very poppy songs i believe to try and win fans in the pop market but they are also making great "old" style Coldplay songs like Major Minus/Charlie Brown/Moving to Mars. I think these Paradise/ETIAW style songs are very deliberate to try and win new young fans and the pop side of the market. I dont think Eno is helping the Coldplay sound,everything feels too watered down and if you compare the live version if MM to the studio, the live wins hands down and sounds much more rough and better. All that said, i think the new album sounds great and i was someone who felt Coldplay had lost their spark with X&Y and VLV.

Death oF You and Me is a great tune. Reminds me of The Importance Of Being Idle mixed with Half The World Away.

Eno has ruined it.

Its a really strange one. The b-side is 100x better than the A.

Its not saying "go back to their roots" its saying progress but in a direction that improves on what you started with. Look at what a band like U2 did,they progressed and eventually did Achtung Baby which was true to their roots but totally different and new at that time. What is teardrop? its like a poppy mainstream sellout which is the direction VLV was heading in.

Probably not. Really cant understand why they've went so poppy, i can only think its because they want to try to go mainstream and earn loads of money.

Really poor song. Cant believe this is the same band that wrote Careful Where You Stand or Amsterdam etc. Its the poppification of VLV x5. Heading in a downward direction. Maybe the album will be better?

how many new songs will we get?

I just remember listening to all their earlier stuff,b-sides etc and on the 1st listen "not getting the song" then after 100 listens it got better and better and i absolutely loved it. Now i listen to a new song and i think "ive heard this 100 times before" and im bored with it after a few listens. Perhaps ive just gotten older and have moved on rather than them being bad now.I dont know.

If you like it then thats great. I used to love Coldplay went to all their gigs etc even met Chris and i liked some of the VLV stuff. To me however, their latest stuff is getting too bland and boring.It doesn't really interest me anymore. But they're a massive band and have loads and loads of fans so i am in the minority. I still read all their lastest news and wait for their new songs with interest and i really hope their new album is great.

no and its only my opinion and what do i know? but Coldplay lost me a lot during VLV and this new song just continues their new bland sound.Its only my opinion though.

I must be going mad but what has happened to Coldplay?.Ive said this before but theyve gone poppy and so,so mainstream and MOR its really such a shame.

compare it to anything from Parachutes or AROBTTH and its really awful.

U2 are the best bandin the world,its as simple as that.Their live shows are an experiance.

I was at Hampden tonight.Thought it was quite poor to be honest. I saw them in 2003 and in 2005 and they were brilliant and blew me away.Tonight just didnt stand up to them. Firstly,i got hit about 3 times with thrown cups of pee and generally there were idiots in the crowd trying to push past to the front. Secondly the sound where i was,was awful.I was just in front of the leg of the C stage and the sound was far too quiet,i remember they were up on the stage at the back and the acoustic guitar sounded really poor. Thirdly going up to the back and using the stage just doesnt work in a stadium it really disjoints everything. Best songs for me were LIJ,Politik and LIT 2. I saw U2 last month at Hampden and perhaps they have set the bar too high with the 360 tour but Coldplay tonight was nowhere near it. P.S Hope i dont get flamed for this but its just my honest opinion.

Im going in at about 5. I think ill easily get to the front then.

I love U2 so much,when i saw them on this 360 tour it was the best night of my life! I have tears in my eyes when think about it or watch the 360 youtube videos! Im a 30year old guy too!
